  • Knowledge management is a recent area in business administration that deals with how to leverage knowledge as a key asset and resource in modern organizations. Also, Knowledge systems are the single most important industrial and commercial offspring of the discipline called artificial intelligence. A Case Based Reasoning(CBR) system solves new problems by recalling adapting previous solutions. This paper presents the results of a recent empirical study. Furthermore this study proposes a CBR Methodology designed to manage knowledge of Hana company under e-business.

  • To increase the robustness of tile feedforward tracking control system, a new discrete time sliding function has been defined and utilized for the formulation of control law, In adaptive case the robustness is achieved by using both a normalized gradient algorithm with deadzone and a sliding function-based nonlinear feedback, while in nonadaptive case by using only a sliding function-based nonlinear feedback.

  • As the effective use of information has gained greater attention over the decade, various conventional AI techniques have been applied to develop expert systems for business applications. Case-based reasoning (CBR) makes data more accessible by organizing it as a set of examples from past experience that can be generalized and applied to current problems. This paper illustrates basic concepts of CBR and addresses the system discussed in this paper can provide a basis for building more flexible and adaptable expert systems for business applications.

  • Background and Purpose : Ceramic based infra-red Therapy has been effective on derma system. The purpose of this case was to know the effect of ceramic based infra-red therap therapy on atopic dematitis. Material and Methods Among initial 25 outpatients with atopic detmatitis who visited Kangnam KyungHee Oriental hospital from Mar. 2000 to Sep. 2002, we excluded 4 outpatients that quited treatment after 1st treatment. We treated ceramic based infra-red therapy, herb medication treatment and Acupuncture women patients. Ceramic based infra-red therapy using GI-2000 system was lighted to under for 30 minutes. SoPungSan(消風散) was one of the effective herb medication on atopic dermatitis in oriental. In acupuncture treatment. We activated Kokchi(LI11, 曲池), Choksamni(S36, 足三里) and inhibited Yanggye(LI5, 陽谿), Yanggok(SI5, 陽谷). Results and Conclusions Ceramic based infra-red therapy, herb medication treatment and acupuncture therapy showed usfull effect on atopic dermatitis.

  • Economy of scale would be one of the most important issues among organizations pursuing system integration projects. Cerntainly there are other benefits than cost reduction for achieving system integration. However. these benefits could not be achieved automatically. if system integration projects were undertaken without thoughtful planning. In this paper. we propose a framework for an effective system integration by (1) defining the objects(user interface. database. application. and server) and (2) considering the level of integration(physical integration and rational integration). Therefore. 6 types of integration can be considered. Five case studies of domestic organizations were reviewed to suggest various issues and solutions. Based on our case studies. we discovered that five integration types - EIP. EAI. ERP. BPM and System Reconsolidation - were most widely used.

  • Four requirements for the operating and supporting system for sustainable landscape management will be discussed through this paper. The requirements are based on multiple case studies on the structure and the process of development of three organizations that have been contributing to the sustainable rural landscape management in Japan since 1989. The first requirement is that the residents should recognize regional problems and voluntarily organize a group which can properly deal with the problems. Secondly, members of the organization should have a solid grasp of the goal of their activities (or founding principal of the organization) and share it among themselves. Founding principal should include the history of natural circulation system in the area, cultural features and a future plan in association with human resources. Thirdly, the administration of the organization should be separated from the founder, the residents. The administration, such as business promotion, becomes more effective when consigned to a separate entity, not to the residents. Lastly, the interaction among separate entities is crucial to promote diverse activities for the local landscape management. The administrators and experts need to cooperate to draw a precise conclusion regarding the way of interaction. These requirements drawn from the Japanese case studies should be localized to the Korean circumstances for further adoption.

  • In a preliminary design available information is limited, so it makes attractive to rely on the design cases of existing ships to design new ships. In this paper a prototype of the case-based conceptual design system of a ship is developed to support systematically the design process. This system not only generates design candidates through a case indexing, but also determines the priorities of the candidates by using nearest neighbor matching algorithm. The final solution is presented through adaptation process. The validation of the system was examined and verified by applying to conceptual ship design stage.

  • Ship's collision avoidance is a skill that masters of merchant marine vessels have acquired through years of experience and that makes them feel at ease to guide their ship out from danger quickly compared to inexperienced officers. Case based reasoning(CBR) uses the same technique in solving tasks that needs reference from variety of situations. CBR can render decision-making easier by retrieving past solutions from situations that are similar to the one at hand and make necessary adjustments in order to adapt them. In this paper, we propose to utilize the advantages of CBR in a support system for ship's collision avoidance while using fuzzy algorithm for its retrieval of similar navigational situations, stored in the casebase, thus avoiding the cumbersome tasks of creating a new solution each time a new situation is encountered. There will be two levels within the Fuzzy-CBR. The first level will identify the dangerous ships and index the new case. The second level will retrieve cases from casebase and adapt the solution to solve for the output. While CBR's accuracy depends on the efficient retrieval of possible solutions to be adapted from stored cases, fuzzy algorithm will improve the effectiveness of solving the similarity to a new case at hand.

  • This case study shows constructing the knowledge-based system using a rule-based approach for detecting transactions regarding money laundering in the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU). To better manage the explosive increment of low risk suspicious transactions reporting from financial institutions and to conjugate data converged into the KoFIU from various organizations, the adoption of a knowledge-based system is definitely required. We designed and constructed the knowledge-based system for anti-money laundering by committing experts of each specific financial industry co-worked with a knowledge engineer. The outcome of the knowledge base implementation shows that the knowledge-based system is filtering STRs in the primary analysis step efficiently and so has made great contribution to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the analysis process. It can be said that establishing the foundation of the knowledge base under the entire framework of the knowledge-based system for consideration of knowledge creation and management is indeed valuable.

  • Fatigue properties of rubber are one of the most important characteristics in the rubber industry. In this study, the fatigue properties of MREs (magneto-rheological elastomers) based on NR (natural rubber), EPDM (ethylene-propylene diene monomer), and AEM (ethylene/acrylic elastomer) were investigated. For comparison, MREs with a Shore hardness of 60A were prepared. According to the relative results, the fatigue properties of EPDM MRE were the worst. Thus, we investigated methods to improve the fatigue properties of EPDM MRE by varying the carbon black content and curing systems of EPDM as the matrix of the MRE. Dynamic properties were measured using a fatigue tester and an RPA (rubber process analyzer), and the XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) was used to analyze the curing system of the EPDM matrix. According to the results, the Payne effect increased and the fatigue resistance decreased as the carbon black content increased. In case of the curing system, the CV (conventional vulcanization) system was superior to the EV (efficient vulcanization) system in terms of the fatigue resistance. This was because the number of flexible bonds in the case of the CV system was higher than that in the case of the EV system. However, the EV system showed excellent mechanical properties because it had many monosulfidic bonds with strong binding energy.
