Design of Optimized Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Controller and Its Application (최적 Interval Type-2 퍼지 제어기 설계 및 응용)

  • In this study, we introduce the design methodology of an optimized Interval Type-2 fuzzy controller. The fixed MF design of type-1 based FLC leads to the difficulty of rule-based control design for representing the linguistically uncertain expression. In the Type-2 FLC as the expanded type of Type-1 FLC, we can effectively improve the control characteristic by using the footprint of uncertainty(FOU) of membership function. Type-2 FLC has a robust characteristic in the unknown system with unspecific noise when compared with Type-1 FLC. Through computer simulation as well as practical experiment, we compare their performance by applying both the optimized Type-1 and Type-2 fuzzy cascade controllers to ball and beam system. To evaluate each controller performance, we consider controller characteristic parameters such as maximum overshoot, delay time, rise time, settling time and steady-state error.

A New Control Scheme for Maintaining Balanced DC Voltages in Static Var Compensator(SVC) Using Cascade Multilevel Inverter (직렬형 멀티레벨 인버터를 사용한 무효전력보상장치의 직류전압평형을 위한 새로운 제어기법)

  • This paper examines the application of high voltage static var compensator(SVC) with cascade multilevel inverter which employs H-bridge inverter(HBI). A new switching scheme is developed for the SVC system. To improve the unbalanced problem of the DC capacitor voltages, the rotated switching scheme of fundamental frequency is newly used. The optimized fundamental switching pattern with low switching frequency is adapted to be suitable for high application. The selective harmonic elimination method(SHEM) allows to keep the total harmonic distortion(THD) low in the output voltage of multilevel inverter. The SVC system is modeled using the d-q transform which calculates the instantaneous reactive power. This model is used to design a controller and analyze the SVC system. Simulated and experimental results are also presented and discussed to validate the proposed schemes.

  • The heat (mass) transfer characteristics on the blade surface of a first-stage turbine rotor cascade for power generation has been investigated by employing the naphthalene sublimation technique. A four-axis profile measurement system is successfully developed for the measurements of the local heat (mass) transfer coefficient on the curved blade surface. The experiment is carried out at the free-stream Reynolds number and turbulence intensity of $2.09\times10^5$ and 1.2%. The results on the blade surfaces show that the local heat (mass) transfer on the suction surface is strongly influenced by the endwall vortices, but that on the pressure surface shows a nearly two-dimensional nature. The pressure surface has a more uniform distribution of heat load than the suction one.

  • This paper examines the application of high voltage static var compensator(SVC) with cascade multilevel inverter which employs H-bridge inverter(HBI). This method has the primary advantage that the number of voltage levels can be increased for a given number of semiconductor devices when compared to the conventional control methods. The SVC system is modeled using the d-q transform which calculates the instantaneous reactive power. This model is used to design a controller and analyze the SVC system. From the mathematical model of the system, the design procedures of the circuit parameters L and C are presented in this thesis. To meet the specific total harmonic distortion(THD) and ripple factor of the capacitor voltage, the circuit parameters L and C are designed. Simulated and experimental results are also presented and discussed to validate the proposed schemes.

Study on the performance characteristics of a new CO2 auto-cascade heat pump system (새로운 CO2 오토 캐스케이드 열펌프 시스템의 성능특성 연구)

  • Owing to the harmful environmental effects of HCFC and CFC refrigerants discovered in the late 20th century, the need for environmentally friendly refrigerants such as $CO_2$ in cooling systems has increased. Air-source $CO_2$ heat pumps that utilize ambient heat in cold winter are less efficient because of a higher evaporation temperature, and it is difficult to manufacture the components of the heat pump owing to a super critical pressure of over 130 bar. This research aims to overcome these disadvantages and improve energy efficiency by introducing a new lower-pressure $CO_2$ auto-cascade heat pump system. $CO_2$-R32 zeotropic refrigerants were considered for two-stage expansion and effective cooling heat exchanging system configurations of the new auto-cascade heat pump. The results indicated that the efficiency of the two-stage expansion system was higher than that of the original one-stage expansion system. Furthermore, the two-stage expansion system showed significant performance improvements when the two-stage expansion stage from highest pressure of 70bar, intermediate expansion pressure of 25bar, and final low pressure of 10bar is applied. The COP of the new two-stage auto-cascade system (2.332) was 43.15% higher than that of the present simple auto-cascade system (1.629). Refrigerants having an evaporation temperature of $-10^{\circ}C$ or lower can be obtained that can be easily evaporated in an evaporator even at a low temperature.

  • In this paper, analysis on the performance characteristics of R744-R404A cascade refrigeration system is presented to offer the basic design data for the operating parameters of the system. The operating parameters considered in this study include subcooling and superheating degree, compressor efficiency, and condensing and evaporating temperature in R404A high- and R744 low-temperature cycle, respectively. The main results were summarized as follows : It was observed that the highest COP of the system is achieved by higher superheating degree in R744 cycle than that in R404A cycle. The COP of the system increased by giving the subcooling degree in both cycles. The COP of the cascade system is the highest value when the system is operated at an optimum evaporation temperature.

  • Nowadays, there are many research for recognizing face of people using the machine vision. the machine vision is classification and analysis technology using machine that has sight such as human eyes. In this paper, we propose algorithm for classifying human face using this machine vision system. This algorithm consist of Convolutional Neural Network and cascade face detector. And using this algorithm, we classified the face of subjects. For training the face classification algorithm, 2,000, 3,000, and 4,000 images of each subject are used. Training iteration of Convolutional Neural Network had 10 and 20. Then we classified the images. In this paper, about 6,000 images was classified for effectiveness. And we implement the system that can classify the face of subjects in realtime using USB camera.

  • This paper proposes a method of designing and controlling delta robots with low-cost DC motors, which are widely used in the automation process. Simulation was performed by interpreting the mechanics and dynamics of the delta robot, and based on this analysis, low-cost DC motor was selected. Experiments were conducted to obtain characteristic values of motors and the current-position cascade control system was designed and implemented. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed system, the experiment to check that the end-effector of the delta robot follows the target path was progressed. Through the experiment, the limitations of using low-cost motors were overcome by designing compensation algorithms and the performance of the position control was verified.

  • Vehicle dynamic states used in various advanced driving safety systems are influenced by road geometry. Among the road geometry information, the vehicle pitch angle influenced by road slope and acceleration-deceleration is essential parameter used in pose estimation including the navigation system, advanced adaptive cruise control and others on sag road. Although the road slope data is essential parameter, the method measuring the parameter is not commercialized. The digital map including the road geometry data and high-precision DGPS system such as DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) based RTK(Real-Time Kinematics) are used unusually. In this paper, low-cost cascade extended Kalman filter(CEKF) based road slope estimation method is proposed. It use cascade two EKFs. The EKFs use several measured vehicle states such as yaw rate, longitudinal acceleration, lateral acceleration and wheel speed of the rear tires and 3 D.O.F(Degree Of Freedom) vehicle dynamics model. The performance of proposed estimation algorithm is evaluated by simulation based on Carsim dynamics tool and T-car based experiment.

Development of Refrigeration Equipment for Tuna Long Liner (참치 어선 냉동장치의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The experimental study and theoretical analysis are made in order to investigate a new refrigeration system, R-22 and R-502 or R-13 cascade compressor with panel type cooler, for tuna long liner. The experimental apparatus consists with the cascade unit, 1.5 HP R-502 compressor in the first stage and 1 HP R-22 compressor in the second stage, and 3 $m^2$ cold storage room with a direct expansion panel type cooler. The main result are as follows: 1. The energy saving and C.O.P. of the R-22 and R-502 or R-22 and R-13 cascade are improved much higher than two stage compressor. 2. For the point of simplicity of design, installation, and running cost, the panel type cooler is much better than traditional hair pin coil type cooler. 3. From the experimental data and analysis, the R-22 and R-502, or R-22 and R-13 cascade compressor with panel type cooler is recommended for a new refrigeration equipment of the tuna long liner.
