The vector field histogram(VFH) uses a two-dimensional Cartesian histogram grid as a world model. The VFH method subsequently employs a two-stage data-reduction process in order to compute the desired control commands for the vehicle. In the first stage the histogram grid is reduced to a one dimensional polar histogram that is constructed around the robot's momentary location. Each sector in the polar histogram contains a value representing the polar obstacle density in that direction. In the second stage, the algorithm selects the most suitable sector from among all polar histogram sectors with a low polar obstacle density, and the steering of the robot is aligned with that direction. We applied this algorithm to our four-legged robot.
In this paper, a method of dynamic modeling and a dynamic control of a mobile robot are presented to show the superiority of the dynamic control comparing to the PD control. This dynamic model is derived from the cartesian coordinates using lagrange equations. Based upon the derived dynamic model, we implemented the dynamic control of the mobile robot using the computed torque method. Time varying non-linear friction terms are not incroporated in this dynamic model. Instead, those are considered as disturbances. This uncertainty in dynamic model of mobile robot is compensated by the outer loop controller using PD algorithm. The validity of this model and the control algorithm are confirmed through the experiments, where the dynamic control algorithm demonstrated robust velocity tracking performance against the unmodeled non-linear frictions. The superiority of this algorithm is demonstrated by comparing to classical PD control algorithm.
In this paper, a nonlinear controller based on adaptive sliding-mode method which has a sliding surface vector including new boundary function is proposed and applied to a two-wheeled voiding mobile robot (WMR). This controller makes the welding point of WMR achieve tracking a reference point which is moving on a smooth curved welding path with a desired constant velocity. The mobile robot is considered in view of a kinematic model and a dynamic model in Cartesian coordinates. The proposed controller can overcome uncertainties and external disturbances by adaptive sliding-mode technique. To design the controller, the tracking error vector is defined, and then the new sliding is proposed to guarantee that the error vector converges to zero asymptotically. The stability of the dynamic system will be shown through the Lyapunov method. The simulations is shown to prove the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
The dynamic walking planning and the inverse dynamics of the biped robot is investigated in this paper. The biped robot is modeled with 14 degrees of freedom rigid bodies considering the walking pattern and kinematic construction of humanoid. The method of the computer aided multibody dynamics is applied to the dynamic analysis. The equations of motion of biped are initially represented as terms of the Cartesian corrdinates then they are converted to the minimum number of equations of motion in terms of the joint coordinates using the velocity transformation matrix. For the consideration of the relationships between the ground and foot the holonomic constraints are added or deleted on the equations of motion. the number of these constraints can be changed by types of walking patterns with three modes. In order for the dynamic walking to be stabilizable optimized trunk positions are iteratively determined by satisfying the system ZMP(Zero Moment Point) and ground conditions.

This paper present an intelligent microcontroller based chess playing robot which can play a board game against opponent and calculate its moves in a non-idealized environment. In this work, for the sake of simplicity task is accomplished by using Cartesian coordinate system. Chess playing system has been designed in such a way that it provides an interface between user and robot to control chess movements using RS232. Various algorithms are implemented for interfacing hardware in C++ language. Our main goal is to design a cost effective and highly accurate robot system that consumes minimal power to complete its task.
In this paper, We Designed the torque compensatory controller for robot manipulator using modified chaotic neural networks with self feedback loop. The proposed torque compensatory controller compensate torque of the PD controller. In order to estimate the proposed controller, we implemented to the Cartesian space control of three-axis PUMA robot and compared the simulation results with recurrent neural networks(RNNs) controller. Simulation results show that the learning error drastically decrease at on-line learning. The proposed CNNs controller shows much better control performance and shorter processing time compared to the recurrent neural network controller in the robot trajectory control.
This paper present a novel 6-axis robotic base platform with force/moment sensing. The robotic base platform is made up of six loadcells connecting the moving plate to the fixed plate by spherical joints at the both ends of loadcells. The statics relation is derived, the robotic base platform prototype and the loadcell measurement system are developed. The force/moment calibrations in joint and Cartesian spaces are performed. The algorithm to detect external force applied at a working robot is derived, and using a 6-DOF robot mounted on the robotic base platform, force/moment measurement experiments have been performed.
Teaching an industrial robot is still a dangerous and time-consuming process. It is expected that a robot can track a trajectory that is repeatedly taught by a human operator. Teaching a robot in joint space is easier than that in Cartesian space or a work space because the robot will never lose its stability when it is taught and operated in a joint space. However, it is very easy for a robot to lose its stability when it is taught in a work space. This is because of the singular points problem in kinematics for manipulators. Thus, experts should teach a given task to a robot in a careful manner. A new algorithm that avoids the problem of singular points is proposed. Using this proposed method, a user can freely teach a robot without the chance of instability in an entire work space.
