Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between organizational socialization and intention to leave, and to identify factors affecting on intention to leave in operating room nurses. Methods: This study used a descriptive design. Seventy operating room nurses recruited from three hospitals under the same management style, in-service educational system, and working conditions agreed to participate in this study, and completed self-administered questionnaires of the organizational socialization and the intention to leave questionnaire. Respondents were classified by career as advanced beginner, competent practitioner, proficient practitioner and expert practitioner by Benner's stages of nursing proficiency. Data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA with multiple comparisons, Spearman correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Nurses unsatisfied with the current in-service continuous education had lower organizational socialization and higher intention to leave. In advanced beginners, job performance was lowest and organizational commitment was highest. In expert practitioners, intention to leave was highest. Organizational commitment, interpersonal relationship, identity and burnout were associated with intention to leave. Mutual trust, burnout, and interpersonal relationship were predictors of intention to leave explained 20.8% of variance. Conclusion: The career ladder program to enhance nurses' organizational socialization and intention to stay should be established and expanded for well-experienced operating room nurses.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting general hospital nurses' intention to stay in their jobs. Methods: A descriptive research design was used with a convenience sample of 286 nurses. Data were collected from March 15 to April 14, 2017using self-reported questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The mean scores for intention to stay, resilience, and emotional labor were 5.28 out of 8, 57.40 out of 100, and 3.23 out of 5, respectively. Intention to stay was positively correlated with overall career (r=.30), workplace (r=.18), shift work (r=-.20), position (r=.28), salary (r=.13), job satisfaction (r=.51), hospital satisfaction (r=.46), and resilience (r=.41). Factors influencing the intention to stay were job satisfaction and resilience, which explained 28% of the variance. Conclusion: Overall career, job satisfaction, and resilience are critical factors affecting general hospital nurses' intention to stay. Based on the findings of this study, efforts to improve nurses' job satisfaction and resilience should be implemented to mitigate the loss of this expert group among healthcare professionals.
Purpose : This study examined the effects of work environment and organizational culture on tertiary hospital nurses' turnover intention. Methods : A cross-sectional design was used, with a convenience sample of 371 hospital nurses from 16 units of three tertiary hospitals in South Korea. Data were collected through a self-report survey conducted during September and October 2016. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test, and binary logistic regression analysis. Results : A total of 43.7% of the participants were identified as having turnover intention within 1 year. Factors related to turnover intention among hospital nurses were age, marital status, and total clinical career. Furthermore, a relationship-oriented organizational culture showed a negative association with turnover intention. Conclusion : These findings suggest it is important to provide appropriate motivational programs and incentives for nurses according to their clinical career to decrease turnover intention. Moreover, establishing a relationship-oriented organizational culture will also help to reduce the turnover intention of tertiary hospital nurses.
Purpose: This study aimed to develop and test a reward scale for hospital nurses. Methods: The initial items were identified through a literature review and focus group interviews with ten hospital nurses. The content validity of the items was evaluated by ten experts. Fifty-one items were derived from the pilot survey. Four hundred eighty-eight nurses participated in the study: 248 for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and 240 confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Data were analyzed using item analysis, EFA, CFA, convergent validity, known-group validity, and internal consistency using IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0 and IBM SPSS AMOS 29.0. Results: The final scale consisted of 31 items and eight factors (decent wage, opportunity to grow and develop, support for special situations, various benefits, flexibility of work, job-related achievement, reflecting career and performance, and recognition), which explained 67.3% of the total variance. The eight-subscale model was validated by CFA. Convergent validity was evaluated by analyzing correlation with intention to leave (r = - .63, p < .001) and job satisfaction (r = .54, p < .001). The known-group validity was evaluated by comparing the reward scales according to age, clinical career, income level and hospital type. The scale was found to be reliable with a Cronbach's α of .89. Conclusion: Both the validity and reliability of the reward scale for hospital nurses are verified, which can enhance the understanding of the range of rewards and may assist nurse managers in establishing an effective reward system.
The purpose of this study was to identify the influencing factors on the intention of career choice toward psychiatric nurses among nursing students. The participants were 261 senior nursing students from five schools in D and W metropolitan cities. Data were collected from August 1 to 20, 2019, and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS 26.0 program. In the multiple regression analysis, age (𝛽=.13, p=.048), satisfaction of mental health nursing practicum (𝛽=.16, p=.035) were significant factors on intention of career choice toward mental nurses with 10.3% of total explanatory power. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the practice satisfaction of nursing students by improving the practice environment and clinical nursing instructors' teaching competence. In addition, an further study was proposed that can identify various variables that affect the career choice of mental health nurses by expanding the subjects.
Recently the request of the patients to participate in the medical courses has been expanding due to elevated sense of right on the people's health. merchandised medical treatment by mass supply, human right declaration of the patients, generalized medical informations by the mass media and the change of human relation between the medical personnels and the patients. Under these phenomena the accident by the nurses have been increasing by the area of the nurses having been expanded and their independent roles having been increased. Such nursing accidents are the important subject which the professional occupation of the nurses has been facing but legal protective capability of the nurses has been very weak. Therefore this study has examined the degree of the experience of the nursing accident that happens in the clinical nursing scenes in the general hospital to provide the basic materials for the protection and the counter measures of the nursing accidents. The following is the conclusion based by the above examination. 1) The general characters of the subjects of this study is that they are mostly single in their twenties and graduate from nursing college. Their total clinical career is above 5 years$(44.8\%)$ and their current clinical parts' career is between 1-3 years$(40.1\%)$. So these facts suggest that most hospitals has taken the working rotation policy on nurses. 2) The level of nurses' knowledge on the nursing law is accurate partially but isn't it patially. So it is suggested that nurses need the accurate information and education about the nursing law. But the nurses' attitude is very approved of the establishment of a unilateral nursing law. 3) The relation between the demographic characters of the subjects and their attitudes on the nursing law shows that there is no significant differences except the relation between the attitude 6(the sufficient level of education on nursing law in formal education course) and age. total clinical career. 4) The perception of the nurses shows that the cause of the nursing accident has been due to the heavy work$(78.2\%)$. short of professional knowledge and skill$(60.2\%)$, discordance with Doctors. patients and patients' families. They report the accident to the head nurse first$(81.8\%)$ and within 30 minute$(75.1\%)$. The hour of nursing accident frequently happened is regardless of service hour with $49.4\%$ in response rate. the highest rate. and the nursing accident happens in the night more than the daytime. Even though most nurses think that they are themselves responsible for nursing accident. it is found that the chief cause of the nursing accident is due to the nurses' heavy work$(78.2\%)$. So the causes of nursing accidents is analysed. it may be suggested that the endeavor of hospital and nursing organizations to decrease nursing accidents is very important. 5) The coping patterns of patients with nursing accidents are mostly active attitude such as a violent words$(69\%)$. sue or accusation$(36.4\%)$, monetary compensation $(35.6\%)$ except a understanding cases$(38.7\%)$. But the coping patterns of hospitals with nursing accidents are mostly to investigate the accurate cause.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with stress related to home mechanical ventilator (HMV) care in general ward nurses. Methods: The study participants were 110 general ward nurses. Data on participant characteristics, level of knowledge, education needs, coping ability in emergency situations, confidence, and stress were collected from August 1 to 30, 2018 using a structured questionnaire by web-based surveys. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 20.0 for descriptive statistics and independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Significant factors associated with stress related to HMV care were ward career, intensive care unit (ICU) career, intensive care room (ICR) career, education experience, and satisfaction level of HMV education. Stress had negative correlations with confidence and positive correlations with education needs. The determining factors affecting stress related to HMV care in the general ward were confidence (${\beta}=-.31$, p=.004), ICR career (${\beta}=-.27$, p<.001), education needs (${\beta}=.24$, p=.005), education frequency (${\beta}=-.18$, p=.040), and ICU career (${\beta}=-.18$, p=.025); their explanation power was about 41.8%. Conclusions: It is necessary to develop HMV care training manuals and guidelines and consider ICU or ICR careers for patient safety.
