  • In this study, the career barriers exploration counseling program was carried out to research the factor on the career barriers of women's college students. And then the effect of the career barriers exploration counseling program on career preparation behavior of the women's students was analyzed. The program that referred to the career counseling program proposed in domestic and career material suggested in Korean Women's Development Institute and Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training was adopted in this investigation. Moreover referred to the previous research and reference related to career counseling that had conducted the related factor on career barriers and career preparation behavior. First of all, the program was reconstructed by referring to the Gottfredson(1981)'s career development theory. In order to verify the effect of the program on career preparation behavior of women's college students, two times tests were carried out on 10 persons of the experimental group and the control group respectively, before and after the program was performed. And then the ANCOVA was done on the difference between the post-test results of the experimental group and the control group. Findings of this study might be summarized as follows: First, the post-test result in the experimental group on career barriers was significantly lower than in the control group. Second, on career preparation behavior the result in the experimental group was higher than in the control group. Therefore, the career barriers exploration counseling program had a significant influence on career barriers of women's college students and the program impacted on career preparation behavior of women's college students significantly.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of education service quality (quality of professor service, quality of curriculum service) on career decision-making, self-efficacy, career decision level, and career preparation behavior. Appropriate measures were developed and tested on 426 respondents of Gyeongnam province in South Korea with a cross-sectional questionnaire survey. To ensure the reliability and validity of the questionnaire, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, and validity analysis were conducted. To ensure the reliability and validity of the measurement model, the CFA(confirmatory factor anlaysis) were conducted. The SEM(structural equation modeling) analysis was undertaken to perform the path analysis among the variables and to assess the suitability of the model. MCFA(multi group CFA) and MSEM(multi group SEM) were performed to confirm the moderation effect. Results of the study are summarized as follows: Firstly, education service quality has positive effects on career decision-making self-efficacy. Second, career decision-making self-efficacy has positive effects on career decision level and career reparation behavior. Third, career decision level has positive effects on career reparation behavior. Finally, it was found there exists a moderating effect of freshman/registered student between education service quality, career decision-making self-efficacy, career decision level, career preparation behavior. As a result of this study, it is suggested that investigation of extraneous variables which help to improve career preparation behavior and career decision level as for career of university student will contribute to university education.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate structural relationships among engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectation, interest, learning persistence, and career preparation behavior of engineering students. Participants (n=428) completed measures of engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectations, interests, learning persistence, and career preparation behavior. Results from structural equation modeling analysis were found to support the proposed model which included learning persistence and career preparation behavior, influence from engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and interests. In addition, major persistence intention and career preparation behavior of engineering college students are influenced by the direct and indirect effects on engineering self-efficacy, interest, and outcome expectations. The implications of the findings on practice for Korean engineering college students are discussed.

  • This study attempted to provide basic data for career counseling and education programs by verifying the mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy on relationship between perceived social support and career preparation behavior of Korean Polytechnics students. A total of 314 students from 11 departments attending the I Campus of Korea Polytechnics II were surveyed, and the research results are as follows. First, it was found that career decision-making self-efficacy completely mediated the relationship between social support and career preparation behavior. Second, the career decision-making self-efficacy had complete mediating effects on the relation between social support and career preparation behavior. Third, it was found that social support indirectly had a positive effect on career preparation behavior through career decision-making self-efficacy. The results of this study show that perceived social support of Korean Polytechnics students affects career decision-making self-efficacy and increases the level of career preparation behavior. This suggests that through active social support around Korean Polytechnics students, it is necessary to provide environmental factors that can promote career preparation behavior by enhancing the self-efficacy of career decision-making, which is a low-level factor for students.

  • Purpose As job market squeezes and more institutions have been requiring NCS(National Competency Standards) based recruitments, the importance of NCS has been growing. Among the 10 domains of NCS, the most relevant one with MIS(Management Information Systems) field is 'information ability', which is becoming more important with the advent of the fourth industrial revolution era. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of college students' information ability on their career preparation behavior. Design/methodology/approach In this study, we set up a process model to comprehend the effect of college students' information ability on career preparation behavior based on social cognitive career theory. For research model testing, 561 questionnaires were used for empirical analysis through structural equations modeling. Findings Empirical analysis showed that information ability positively influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. In addition, this study presented a process model explaining the effect of information capability on career preparation behavior. In order to strengthen the information ability of college students, not only university-level efforts, but also MIS discipline efforts should be accompanied. Other academic and practical implications are discussed.

  • Background: Career preparation behavior is a challenge among nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nursing students' adaptation to a non-face-to-face educational environment, lack of interaction with others, and fear of infectious disease may affect career preparation behavior. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify factors that influence the career preparation behavior in the non-face-to-face educational environment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Data were collected in October 2022 from 130 nursing students from a college in City A. A total of 119 questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, a one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The findings show that major satisfaction had a significant positive correlation with career preparation behavior (r=0.56, p<0.001). Nursing professionalism showed a significant positive correlation with career preparation behavior (r=0.57, p<0.001). The factors influencing career preparation behavior included major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and satisfaction with clinical practice. Nursing professionalism was the most influential factor (β=0.35), followed by major satisfaction (β=0.33). Together they had an explanatory power of 37%. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that nursing college students who experienced the COVID-19 pandemic should search for ways to increase their major satisfaction and nursing professionalism programs should be increased to improve career preparation behavior.

  • Objectives: This study aims to understand the mediating effects of self-efficacy on the effects of social support on mental health and career preparation behavior of academic high school students. Methods: A survey was conducted targeting total 297 respondents from May 27 to May 30th 2019. The collected data was analyzed by using the PASW Statistics Ver. 18.0. Results: When the school life satisfaction was lower, and when the personality was more introverted, the students with lower school grade showed significantly low scores of mental health and career preparation behavior. In the effects of social support on mental health, the self-efficacy showed mediating roles. In the effects of social support on career preparation behavior, the self-efficacy showed mediating roles. Conclusion: If the education for strengthening social support is preferentially performed, the self-efficacy could be increased, which would have more positive effects on mental health and career preparation behavior. Regarding the subjects of education, t would be more effective to provide selective and concentrative education to the group with significantly low scores of mental health and career preparation behavior.
