A study on factors influencing on women of skin type (여성의 피부유형상태에 영향을 미치는 요인분석)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate factors influencing on women of skin type using Pender's Health Promotion Model. For this purpose, we surveyed 159 women from July 1 to August 22, 1998. In results of stepwise logistic analysis, these factors was shown significant habit of practice and skin care experience (p<0.05). Groups which did not practice showed the probability of 13.49 times in neutral skin. Groups which experienced skin care showed the probability of 5.16 times in neutral skin. These results suggested that it was to develop the instrument for measurement of skin type.

Experience of Workplace Violence among Intensive Care Unit Nurses (중환자실 간호사의 폭력경험)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of workplace violence among intensive care unit nurses. Methods: The participants of this research were twelve registered nurses who work in the intensive care units (ICU) at the hospitals in Seoul and Gyunggido. Data were collected by individual in-depth interviews and analyzed using the phenomenological methodology by Colaizzi. Results: From significant statements, five theme clusters emerged as follow; 1) vulnerable young women to violence, 2) my own reflection was bruised and exhausted, 3) a hopeless everyday, 4) seeking a solution in relation, 5) establishing one's status as a professional nurse. Conclusion: This study provides a profound understanding on the experiences of workplace violence among ICU nurses. The hospitals are suggested to provide a safe environment by developing programs and policies to prevent and cope with hospital workplace violence for ICU nurses.

A Job Stress and Self-Efficacy of Child Care Teachers (보육교사의 직무스트레스와 자기효능감)

  • The Teachers' Job Stress Scale(D'Arienzo, 1981) and the General Self-Efficacy Scale(Kim & Cho, 1996) were used to study 170 child care teachers. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, Pearson's partial correlation, stepwise multiple regression(forward), path analysis, Internal consistency(Cronbach's $\alpha$), and factor analysis. Results showed that job stress was low for teachers of the national child care center, university graduates, higher salaried, and married teachers. Self-efficacy was high among teachers with more than 2 years experience, married status, and previous experience. Correlation between teacher's job stress and self-efficacy was -.19. Self-efficacy and demographic variables for job stress explained 8~22% of the variability. Self-efficacy intermediated between job stress and demographic variables. Monthly salary directly affected job stress.

Associations of Aggression, Maternal Rejection/Neglect, Child Temperament, and Daycare Experience: The Moderating Effect of Self-Regulation (어머니 거부/방임적 양육태도, 유아의 기질 및 보육 경험이 유아의 공격성에 미치는 영향: 자기조절의 중재효과를 중심으로)

  • This study investigates the relationships between aggression and rejection/neglect by mothers, child temperament, day care experience for preschoolers; in addition, the moderating effect of self-regulation was investigated. The subjects were 338 preschool children. Teachers completed questionnaires that assessed aggression and self-regulation. Mothers reported on the temperament of children and parenting behavior. The rejection/neglect by mothers, child temperament, and daycare experiences were significant predictors of aggression. The moderating effect of self-regulation was found only in daycare experience, which suggests that high self-regulation protects aggression from day care experience.

A Phenomenological Study on Becoming a Father: Experience in Parenting Young Children (아버지 되어가기에 관한 현상학적 연구: 영유아 자녀를 양육하는 남성을 대상으로)

  • Objective: In this study, the author aimed to explore the meaning of fathers' parenting experience by interviewing and analyzing their experience qualitatively. Methods: Ten fathers who had infants or young children participated in this study. The data were collected from individual in-depth interviews of the fathers and were analyzed in accordance with the Colaizzi's phenomenology analysis procedure. Results: As a result of analysis, the parenting experience of the fathers could be summarized into 42 themes and the themes were categorized into 7 clusters. The clusters could be categorized again into two categories; 'the rebirth of the daddy' and 'the reality of the daddy'. And each of the 4 and 3 clusters were included into each category. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study revealed the real features of fathers who had infants or young children, and are expected to be used as supporting materials or intervention for fathers who are trying to become good fathers.

Terminal Care Stress, Job Satisfaction and Terminal Care Performance for Nurses in Internal Medicine Wards (내과병동 간호사의 임종간호 스트레스, 직무만족도 및 임종간호수행)

  • Purpose: This study is aimed to investigate the relationship among terminal care stress, job satisfaction and terminal care performance nurses in internal medicine wards and to provide a basis to improve terminal care performance. Methods: This is a descriptive study performed with 201 nurses who have at least one year of experience and are stationed at the internal medicine department of three general hospitals and three university hospitals in P city of a metropolitan city B. The nurses also had an experience with a dying patient. Data were collected from March 1 through March 31, 2014. The study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Kosin University. Results: Job satisfaction was negatively correlated with stress in end-of-life care (r=-212, P=0.003) and positively correlated with terminal care performance (r=0.383, P<0.001). There was no correlation between terminal care stress and terminal care performance. Conclusion: Appropriate programs are needed to improve job satisfaction for high quality terminal care performance.

The Impact of Child Care Type on Infant's Developmental Outcome: Focusing on the Care Type of at Home Nurturing and Daycare Center (영아기 돌봄유형이 영아발달수준에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 가정내 돌봄과 어린이집 돌봄의 비교를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of child care type on infant's developmental outcomes assessed by K-ASQ, focusing on the child-centric role of nurture policy. For this, this study categorized child care type into types including home nurturing, child care center, and subtypes of each category. The findings of multiple regression analysis using the first-third wave data of Panel Study of Korean Children(PSKC) are as follows. First, the child care center experience had rather positive effect on the development of all abilities in the infants comparing to home nurturing. Second, the time of attending child care center was differently related to the development of motor, communication, and personal-social skill in infanthood. Finally, the accreditation of child care showed a difference only in terms of social development of infants. In conclusion, even if the experience of using child care center has positive impact on infant's developmental level, it is still in need of improving service quality such as reinforcing accreditation system.
