  • In this paper, we analyze and simulate the channel capacity of a spread spectrum watermarking (SSW) technique in wireless fading channel to apply ITS system. Channel capacity analysis causing minimum effect to existing system is required necessary to apply SSW technique. We derive the channel capacity as a closed-form approximation formula in Rayleigh and Rician fading channel model. The numerical results are demonstrated and good approximated results are reported.

  • Generally, multi-path is viewed as an undesirable feature of wireless communications. Therefore, diversity reception and adaptive array schemes are proposed to mitigate its effects. Recently, to increase the spectrum efficiency and the link reliability, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) scheme is devised to exploit multi-path in a scattering wireless channel. In this paper, we have evaluated the channel capacity of MIMO Multi-Carrier CDMA system in path correlation fading channel. And, the channel capacity of MIMO system is compared with single-input single-output (SISO) system. From the results, the MIMO multi-carrier CDMA system with path correlation yields better performance with respect to channel capacity than a SISO system.

  • This paper investigates the performance of M-ary pulse position modulation (PPM) multiuser ultra-wideband (UWB) communication systems in terms of symbol error rate (SER) over fading and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Based on Gaussian approximation for the multiple access interference, an expression for the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived for the UWB system. This expression is used to derive exact SER expressions for coherent UWB receivers. The effect of pulse selection on the SER of multiuser UWB system is studied. In addition to rectangular pulse, the 2nd derivative Gaussian waveform and Rayleigh pulses were considered. We show that the system capacity and/or SER performance can be significantly increased by using the monocycle pulse in fading channels.

  • In this paper, an antenna-switching scheme using negative acknowledgement for hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) is proposed and analyzed in the Vertical Bell Labs Layered Space-Time(V-BLAST) system, in which the transmit antenna is alternatively switched under retransmission. By analytically evaluating the channel capacity of the proposed scheme over correlated fading channels, it is shown that the adverse effect of the channel correlation is alleviated by the antenna switching scheme. Simulation results demonstrate that the average throughput may be improved in a correlated fading channel without adding much complexity to the process.

  • The signal fading distortion has effect on the capacity of cellular mobile communication systems. The short term fading is solved by signal processing techniques depending on the radio communication methods, but another distortion compensation techniques are necessary to combat long term fading. in this paper, we have simulated the call processing in DS-CDMA system using distributed antennas to overcome the long term fading. From the simulation results, we have conformed that the blocking probability of a new call andthe forced probability of handoff-request-call have decreased by increasing the number of distributed antennas.

  • Energy spreading transform (EST) based modulation is an effective technique to combat frequency-selective fading in broadband wireless communication. It performs close to the inter-symbol interference (ISI)-free matched filter bound (MFB) only at the complexity of a linear detector. Originally, EST-based modulation has been proposed for QPSK. However, to fully utilize the capacity of multipath fading channels, higher-order modulations are also necessary. In this paper, we review the EST based modulation that has originally been proposed for QPSK and discuss its extension to 8 PSK and 16 QAM. The performance of the extended system is verified through simulation in Proakis B and 8-tap fading channel. The EST based modulation for 8 PSK shows the performance which is very close to MFB and the EST based modulation for 16 QAM shows the performance gap between its receiver and MFB.

  • In this paper, throughput is derived for slotted ALOHA wideband DS-CDMA and slotted ALOHA Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA systems in the multipath Rayleigh fading channel. The throughput of two systems are compared according to the length of a packet in the fast Rayleigh and the slow Rayleigh multipath fading. As a result, we have known that Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system has less capacity than wideband DS-CDMA system in the same bandwidth, but throughput of Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system is higher than that of wideband DS-CDMA system. And in Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA systems, higher throughput can be obtained through shortening the length of packet in the fast Rayleigh fading and it is efficient to control the length of a packet adequately or increase the system capacity of Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system in the slow Rayleigh fading.

  • The MC-CDMA(multi-carrier code division multiple access) technique is known to be appropriate for high data-rate wireless communications such as mobile multimedia communication due to its robustness to multipath fading and its capability of handing high data rates with a simple one-tap equalizer. In this paepr, the performance of a MC-CDMA cellular system employing antenna arrays at the based station in a fading channel is presented. It is whown that the interference from other users within the cell can be significantly reduced for both reverse link (mobile to base station) and forward link (base station to mobile) using a MC-CDMA with antenna arrays, thus incresig the system's user-capacity. Computer simulations that demonstrate user-capacity improvement of the proposed approach are discussed.
