A fast optimization algorithm has been evolved from a simple two stage optimal power flow(OPF) algorithm for constrained power economic dispatch. In the proposed algorithm, we consider various constraints such as power balance, generation capacity, transmission line capacity, transmission losses, security equality, and security inequality constraints. The proposed algorithm consists of four stages. At the first stage, we solve the aggregated problem that is the crude classical economic dispatch problem without considering transmission losses. An initial solution is obtained by the aggregation concept in which the solution satisfies the power balance equations and generation capacity constraints. Then, after load flow analysis, the transmission losses of an initial generation setting are matched by the slack bus generator that produces power with the cheapest cost. At the second stage we consider transmission losses. Formulation of the second stage becomes classical economic dispatch problem involving the transmission losses, which are distributed to all generators. Once a feasible solution is obtained from the second stage, transmission capacity and other violations are checked and corrected locally and quickly at the third stage. The fourth stage fine tunes the solution of the third stage to reach a real minimum. The proposed approach speeds up the coupled LP based OPF method to an average gain of 53.13 for IEEE 30, 57, and 118 bus systems and EPRI Scenario systems A through D testings.
Available-to-promise (ATP) exhibiting availability of manufacturing resources can be used to support customer order promising. Recently, one advanced function called Capable-to-promise (CTP) is provided by several modern APS (advanced planning system) that checks available capacity for placing new production orders or increasing already scheduled production orders. At the customer enquiry stage while considering the order delivery date and quantity to quote, both ATP and CTP are allocated to support order promising. In particular, current trends of mass customization and multi-side production chain derive several new constraints that should be considered when ATP/CTP allocation planning for order promising - such as customer's preference plants or material vendors, material compatibility, etc. Moreover, ATP/CTP allocation planning would be executed over a rolling time horizon. To utilize capacity and material manufacturing resource flexibly and fulfill more customer orders, ATP/CTP rolling planning should possess resource reallocation mechanism under the constraints of order quantities and delivery dates for all previous order promising. Therefore, to enhance order promising with reliability and flexibility to reallocate manufacturing resource, the ATP/CTP reallocation planning mechanism is needed in order to reallocate material and capacity resource for fulfilling all previous promised and new customer orders beneficially with considering new derived material and capacity constraints.

The fifth generation (5G) mobile communication has been commercialized and the 5G applications, such as the artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT), are deployed all over the world. The 5G new radio (NR) wireless networks are characterized by 100 times more traffic, 1000 times higher system capacity, and 1 ms latency. One of the promising 5G technologies is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In order for the NOMA performance to be improved, sometimes the additive signal-dependent Gaussian noise (ASDGN) channel model is required. However, the channel capacity calculation of such channels is so difficult, that only lower and upper bounds on the capacity of ASDGN channels have been presented. Such difficulties are due to the specific constraints on the dependency. Herein, we provide the capacity of ASDGN channels, by removing the constraints except the dependency. Then we obtain the ASDGN channel capacity, not lower and upper bounds, so that the clear impact of ASDGN can be clarified, compared to additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). It is shown that the ASDGN channel capacity is greater than the AWGN channel capacity, for the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). We also apply the analytical results to the NOMA scheme to verify the superiority of ASDGN channels.

A multi-product multi=facility production planning model is in which known demands must be satisfied. The model considers concave production costs and piecewise concave inventory costs in the introduction of production capacity constraints. Backlogging of unsatisfied demand is permitted. The structure of optimal production schedules is characterized and then used to solve an illustrative numerical problem.

In this paper we deal with the miniaml cost network flow problem with uncertain arc capacity constraints. When the arc capacities are fuzzy with linear L-R type membership function, using parametric programming procedure, we reduced it to the deterministic minimal cost network flow problem which can be solved by various typical network flow algorithms. A modified Algorithm using the Out-of-kilter algorithm is developed.

The allocation of files is essential to the efficiency and effectiveness of a distributed system that must meet geographically dispersed data processing demands. In this paper, we address an optimization model that generates optimal file migration policies in distributed database systems. The proposed model is a more generalized model that includes system's capacity constraints - computing sites' storage capacity and communication networks' capacity - which have not taken into consideration in previous researches. Using this model, we can establish initial file allocation, file reallocation and file migration polices that minimize a system operating cost under system's capacity constraints at an initial system design or reorganization point The proposed model not only can be adopted by small-sized systems but also provides a foundation for effective and simple heuristics for adaptive file migration in large systems.
In wireless cellular networks, previous researches on admission control policies and resource allocation algorithm considered the QoS (Quality of Service) in terms of CDP (Call Dropping Probability) and CBP (Call Blocking Probability). However, since the QoS was considered only within a predetermined cell capacity, the results indicated a serious overload problem of systems not guaranteeing both CDP and CBP constraints, especially in the hotspot cell. That is why a close interrelationship between CDP, CBP and cell capacity exists. Thus, it is indispensable to consider optimal cell capacity guaranteeing multiple QoS (CDP and CBP) at the time of initial cell planning for networks deployment. In this paper, we will suggest a distributed determination scheme of optimal cell capacity guaranteeing both CDP and CBP from a long-term perspective for initial cell planning. The cell-provisioning scheme is performed by using both the two-dimensional continuous-time Markov chain and an iterative method called the Gauss-Seidel method. Finally, numerical and simulation results will demonstrate that our scheme successfully determines an optimal cell capacity guaranteeing both CDP and CBP constraints for initial cell planning.

In our model, we keep inventory to satisfy uncertain demands which arrives irregularly. In this situation, we have additional two constraints. First, we need to have certain amount of order consolidation (consolidation constraint) for the orders to replenish the inventory because of production or purchase constraint. And also, if we order at a certain date which was set by administrative convenience, we have amount constraint to order the consolidated order demands (capacity constraint). We showed this variant inventory policy is needed in steel industry and note that there will be possible similar case in industry. To deal with this case, we invented a variant replenishment policy and show this policy is superior to other possible polices in the consolidation constraint case by extensive simulation. And we derive a combined solution method for dealing with the capacity constraints in addition to the consolidation constraints. For this, we suggest a combined solution method of integer programming and simulation.
This paper suggests a detailed design of APS(Advanced Planning & Scheduling) system using the DBR (Drum-Buffer-Rope) which is a finite capacity scheduling logic of TOC(Theory of Constraints). Our design is composed of four modules; Network, Buffer, Drum and Subordination. The Network module defines the Product Network which is built from BOM and routings. The Buffer module inserts the Buffers into the Product Network. The Drum module describes detail procedures to create Drum Schedule on the CCR(Capacity Constraint Resource). The Subordination module synchronizes all non-constraints to the constraints by determining the length of Rope. This design documented by ARIS.
This study shows the operational availability(Ao) analysis of the supply chain with maintenance functions using the system dynamics simulation. The simulation uses 60 equipments which are serial systems composed by 4 major components. And every entities are connected each other by causal loops. So whole simulation executed like one organic system. Specially we consider 2 constraints, one is the number of spare parts and the other is maintenance capacity level. 2 constraints have 11 levels each so the simulation has 121(11*11) scenarios which scenario has 30 different random number seed. The simulation executed total 3,630(11*11*30) times. We analysis average Ao of total equipments by 121 scenarios and additionally the regression of the average Ao and 2 constraints. As the result, we can get the more accurate values by the system dynamics simulation than the regression to analysis complex system like the supply chain with maintenance functions.
