We present a brief review for theoretical/computational studies of proton transfer processes of some simple biomolecules promoted by microsolvating water molecules. Focus is given on the relative stability of the canonical vs. zwitterionic forms of amino acids, tautomeric forms of the DNA base adenine, and the biologically active vs. inactive forms of nicotine. The biochemical implications of these findings are also discussed.

We present calculations for valine (Val) - $(H_2O)_n$ (n = 0-5) to examine the effects of microsolvating water on the relative stability of the zwitterionic vs. canonical forms of Val. We calculate the structures, energies and Gibbs free energies of the conformers at B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p), wB97XD/6-311++G(d,p) and MP2/aug-cc-pvdz level of theory. We find that five water molecules are needed to stabilize the zwitterionic form of Val. By calculating the barriers of the canonical ${\leftrightarrow}$ zwitterionic pathways of Val - $(H_2O)_5$ conformers, we suggest that both forms of Val - $(H_2O)_5$ may be observed in low temperature gas phase.

상태 방정식으로 기술되는 다입력-다출fur 시스템에 대해 상태 궤환을 이용하여 전 시스템의 극(pole)을 S- 평면의 지정하는 곳으로 이동시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 극배정 (pole assingnment)을 위한 상태 궤환이득 행열을 효과적으로 구할 수 있는 정준형(canonical form)에 대하여 논의하였으며 이러한 정준형이 주어진 경우 극을 원하는 곳에 배정하는 상태 궤환 이득 행열의 계산 방법에 대하여 논의하였다.

현재 XML이 전자 상거래 시장에 널리 수용하여 사용되고 있다. 그러나 XML 문서는 논리적으로 동일하나 물리적으로 여러 다른 형태가 존재할 수 있어, XML 디지털 서명과 같은 물리적 형태로써 유효성을 판단하는 응용 프로그램에서는 문제점이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 이런 단점을 해결하기 위해 W3C에서는 논리적으로 동일한 XML문서를 물리적으로 동일하게 변환시키도록 XML 정규화(Canonical XML) 알고리즘을 제안하여 사용하도록 권고하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 W3C에서 권고한 XML 정규화 알고리즘을 수행하는 시스템을 설계 및 구현함으로써, 좀 더 정교하고 정규화 된 문서로 변형하여 W3C 표준을 따르는 다른 응용 시스템과의 상호 운용이 가능하다. 또한 웹 서비스를 위한 전자서명 시스템에서의 사용이 용이할 뿐만 아니라, 웹 서비스 상호 운용성을 위한 XML 문서 교환 시 물리적 동일성이 요구되는 여러 시스템에서의 사용이 용이할 것으로 사료된다. 뿐만 아니라 국제적 인코딩 스킴과 국내 인코딩 스킴인 EUC­KR과의 변환기능을 추가함으로써 국내 실정에 맞는 XML 정규화 알고리즘이 될 것이며, 이는 국제적 상호 운용성 확보의 기반 기술이 될 것이다.

In this paper, we find the necessary and sufficient conditions for the discrete time nonlinear system to be transformed into observable canonical form by state coordinates change. Unlike the continuous time case, our theorems give the desired state coordinates change without solving partial differential equations. Also, our approach is applicable to both autonomous systems and control systems by slight change of the definition of the vector field.

This paper presents a stabilization algorithm for a class of fuzzy systems with singleton consequect. To this aim, we introduce two canonical forms of an unforced fuzzy system and a stability theorem. A design example is shown to verify the stabilization algorithm.

Let ${\phi}$ be a map of a manifold M into another manifold N, L(N) the bundle of all linear frames over N, and ${\phi}^{-1}$(L(N)) the bundle over M which is induced from ${\phi}$ and L(N). Then, we construct a structure equation for the torsion form in ${\phi}^{-1}$(L(N)) which is induced from a torsion form in L(N).

The problem we consider in this paper is more demanding than the problem of input-output linearization with state equivalence recently solved by Cheng, Isidori, Respondek, and Tarn. We request that the MIMO nonlinear system, for which the problem of input-output linearization with state-equivalence is solvable, can be decoupled. In exchange for further requirement like this, our problem produces more usable and informative results than the problem of input-output linearization with state-equivalence. We present the necessary and sufficient conditions for our problem to be solvable. We characterize each of the nonlinear systems satisfying these conditions by a set of parameters which are invariant under the group action of state feedback and transformation. Using this set of parameters, we can determine directly the unique one, among the canonical forms of decouplable and controllable linear systems, to which a nonlinear system can be transformed via appropriate state feedback and transformation. Finally, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions for our problem to be solvable with internal stability, that is, for stable decoupling.

This paper examines how L2 speech production varies according to learner's L2 proficiency level. L2 speech production variations are analyzed by quantitative measures at word and phone levels using Korean learners' English corpus. Word-level variations are analyzed using correctness to explain how speech realizations are different from the canonical forms, while accuracy is used for analysis at phone level to reflect phone insertions and deletions together with substitutions. The results show that speech production of learners with different L2 proficiency levels are considerably different in terms of performance and individual realizations at word and phone levels. These results confirm that speech production of non-native speakers varies according to their L2 proficiency levels, even though they share the same L1 background. Furthermore, they will contribute to improve non-native speech recognition performance of ASR-based English language educational system for Korean learners of English.
