이질적 얼굴인식을 위한 심층 정준상관분석을 이용한 지역적 얼굴 특징 학습 방법 (Local Feature Learning using Deep Canonical Correlation Analysis for Heterogeneous Face Recognition)

  • Face recognition has received a great deal of attention for the wide range of applications in real-world scenario. In this scenario, mismatches (so called heterogeneity) in terms of resolution and illumination between gallery and test face images are inevitable due to the different capturing conditions. In order to deal with the mismatch problem, we propose a local feature learning method using deep canonical correlation analysis (DCCA) for heterogeneous face recognition. By the DCCA, we can effectively reduce the mismatch between the gallery and the test face images. Furthermore, the proposed local feature learned by the DCCA is able to enhance the discriminative power by using facial local structure information. Through the experiments on two different scenarios (i.e., matching near-infrared to visible face images and matching low-resolution to high-resolution face images), we could validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of recognition accuracy using publicly available databases.

  • 2007년 1월 1일부터 2007년 12월 31일까지 1년 동안 국내 K대학병원의 60세 이상 노인환자 9,955(34.6%)명을 대상으로 정준상관분석을 통한 질병구조와 양상을 파악하였다. 분석결과 설명력이 가장 큰 변수는 수술유무이었으며, 일반적으로 노인은 젊은 계층에 비하여 신체적으로나 정신적으로 허약하기 때문에 수술에 대한 판단을 고려하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이상과 같은 연구를 토대로 체계적인 노인건강 프로그램 구축과 질병통계 기초 자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

Canonical correlation analysis based fault diagnosis method for structural monitoring sensor networks

  • The health conditions of in-service civil infrastructures can be evaluated by employing structural health monitoring technology. A reliable health evaluation result depends heavily on the quality of the data collected from the structural monitoring sensor network. Hence, the problem of sensor fault diagnosis has gained considerable attention in recent years. In this paper, an innovative sensor fault diagnosis method that focuses on fault detection and isolation stages has been proposed. The dynamic or auto-regressive characteristic is firstly utilized to build a multivariable statistical model that measures the correlations of the currently collected structural responses and the future possible ones in combination with the canonical correlation analysis. Two different fault detection statistics are then defined based on the above multivariable statistical model for deciding whether a fault or failure occurred in the sensor network. After that, two corresponding fault isolation indices are deduced through the contribution analysis methodology to identify the faulty sensor. Case studies, using a benchmark structure developed for bridge health monitoring, are considered in the research and demonstrate the superiority of the new proposed sensor fault diagnosis method over the traditional principal component analysis-based and the dynamic principal component analysis-based methods.

Structural and Biochemical Characterization of the Two Drosophila Low Molecular Weight-Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases DARP and Primo-1

  • The Drosophila genome contains four low molecular weight-protein tyrosine phosphatase (LMW-PTP) members: Primo-1, Primo-2, CG14297, and CG31469. The lack of intensive biochemical analysis has limited our understanding of these proteins. Primo-1 and CG31469 were previously classified as pseudophosphatases, but CG31469 was also suggested to be a putative protein arginine phosphatase. Herein, we present the crystal structures of CG31469 and Primo-1, which are the first Drosophila LMW-PTP structures. Structural analysis showed that the two proteins adopt the typical LMW-PTP fold and have a canonically arranged P-loop. Intriguingly, while Primo-1 is presumed to be a canonical LMW-PTP, CG31469 is unique as it contains a threonine residue at the fifth position of the P-loop motif instead of highly conserved isoleucine and a characteristically narrow active site pocket, which should facilitate the accommodation of phosphoarginine. Subsequent biochemical analysis revealed that Primo-1 and CG31469 are enzymatically active on phosphotyrosine and phosphoarginine, respectively, refuting their classification as pseudophosphatases. Collectively, we provide structural and biochemical data on two Drosophila proteins: Primo-1, the canonical LMW-PTP protein, and CG31469, the first investigated eukaryotic protein arginine phosphatase. We named CG31469 as DARP, which stands for Drosophila ARginine Phosphatase.

Canonical PWL 모델 기반의 디지털 사전왜곡기를 이용한 OFDM 시스템의 비선형 왜곡 보상 (Compensation for Nonlinear Distortion in OFDM Systems Using a Digital Predistorter Based on the Canonical PWL Model)

  • OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 시스템은 고속의 무선 데이터 전송이 가능한 기술이다. 하지만 OFDM과 같은 다중 반송파 시스템은 비선형 왜곡에 매우 민감하다. OFDM 시스템에서는 심볼들을 다중 반송파를 이용하여 변조 후 더하여 전송함으로써 전송 신호 진폭의 변화가 매우 심하다. 이러한 신호 진폭의 변화와 송신기 내에 사용되는 고출력 증폭기 (High Power Amplifier; HPA)의 비선형 특성으로 인해 심각한 비선형 왜곡을 겪게 된다. 본 논문에서는 OFDM 시스템의 높은 PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio)과 HPA에 의한 비선형 왜곡을 보상하기 위해 CPWL (Canonical Piecewise-Linear) 모델 기반의 새로운 디지털 사전왜곡기를 제안한다. 모의실험을 통하여 새로운 사전왜곡 기법의 성능을 TD (Total Degradation)와 비트오율 (Bit Error Ratio; BER) 측면에서 평가한 결과, HPA에 의해 발생하는 비선형 왜곡을 효과적으로 보상함으로써, 우수한 성능 향상이 있음을 확인하였다.

SCPWL 모델을 이용한 Super-RENS 디스크 시스템의 비선형 모델링 (Nonlinear Modeling of Super-RENS Disc Systems Using a SCPWL Model)

  • Super-RENS (Super-Resolution Near-field Structure) 디스크 시스템은 BD (Blu-ray Disc) 이후의 차세대 광 기록 저장 시스템의 유망한 후보이다. 따라서 super-RENS 시스템을 위한 등화기 개발과 성능 분석을 위해 정확하고 신뢰성 있는 채널 모델링은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 super-RENS 시스템의 모델링을 위해 SCPWL (Simplicial Canonical Piecewise-Linear) 모델을 적용하고자 한다. Super-RENS 디스크로부터 획득한 RF 신호 샘플들을 사용하여 모의실험을 수행한 결과, super-RENS 시스템의 비선형 모델링을 위해 SCPWL 모델이 효과적으로 활용될 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The structures and conformations of ortho-, meta-, and para-methyl red (MR) upon proton gain and loss were studied by density functional calculations, and compared to methyl yellow for the effects of a carboxyl substitution. Internal hydrogen bonding causes the geometry of neutral o-MR planar, otherwise twist. Monoprotonated species of MR are planar where the proton is attached to $\beta$-azo nitrogen. This loses its azo character a bit, and shows strong delocalization characterized as a quinonoid canonical structure. Di-protonated species of MR is proved to hold two protons at the amino and $\alpha$-azo nitrogen atoms, and planar. It regains somewhat of its azo character, but still shows fairly delocalized property in terms of carbocationic canonical structures. The carboxyl substitution on 4-dimethylamino-trans-azobenzene structure has some delocalization effects on the geometry or conformation of MR derivatives whether neutral, mono-, di- or de-protonated.

초고주파용 필터설계를 위한 결합행렬 합성법 (Coupling Matrix Synthesis Methods for RF/Microwave Filter Design)

  • 본 논문에서는 필터함수의 감쇄극점(poles)과 반사손실(Return Loss)로부터 전송계수($S_{21}$)와 반사계수($S_{11}$)를 도출하고, 이 값들로부터 대역통과필터 설계를 위한 결합계수행렬 계산법을 제시하였다. 계산된 결합계수행렬에 유사변환을 적용하여서 결합계수행렬을 접힌 표준형 필터 구조의 커플링계수 행렬로 변환하였다. 그 결과를 이용하여 접힌 표준형 필터를 설계하였다.

  • In order to understand the relationship between molecular structure of Metal-Organic Framework(MOF) and capacity of hydrogen absorption, quantum mechanical calculations and grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations have been carried out on a series of MOF-5 having various organic linkers. The calculation results about specific surface area and electron density for various frameworks indicated that the capacity of the hydrogen storage is largely dependent on effective surface area rather than the free volume. Based on the iso-electrostatic potential surface from density functional calculation and the amount of adsorbed hydrogens from grand canonical Monte Carlo calculation, it was also found that the electron localization ground organic linker plays an important role in hydrogen capacity of MOFs.
