The first theme of this study is to preserve and manage rural multi-functionality resource Information. This study is to suggest the method that can irradiate rural multi-functionality resource Information efficiently and constructively. GIS uses PDA and Tablet PC as an investigation tool and verifies the outcome of the development in the investigation system. This study enhanced the mobility function of PDA by installing recording system and camera to the PDA. Also, Using GPS has been ensured scientific precision and realism to the investigation. Direct input on spot can save time, cost and minimize human error by simplifying the investigation process. Database is composed of characters like scale, form, location, distance, resident's opinion and image of 37 resources. The survey system was applied in 170 villages and got a total of 12,270 resources data. Management system should be easy to input and output the surveyed information and to get reports in any kind of form ( i.e. final result can be produced as a map). By utilizing of the Rural Resource information system, the study made a simulation to compare the target areas before and after. Also, digitalized investigation system, minimized re-input and reprocessing of data and enabled to simplify and standardize the process than memorandum investigation. Data collected through digital system could offer people useful information by Web-GIS. It was need to specify practical way in decision-making and a way to measure the value of resources to align with the regional plan. Also, need to keep on developing statistical data and application program that can connect us to present the best solution to support regional planning. Therefore, quality of data is very important. Finally, it is very important to develop various programs to analyze space md rural resource by monitoring rural environment.

A Compton X-ray backscatter technique has been developed to quantitatively assess impact damage in quasi-isotropic laminated composites made by a drop-weight tester. X-ray backscatter imaging system with a slit-type camera is constructed to obtain a cross-sectional profile of impact-damaged laminated composites from the electron-density variation of the cross section. A nonlinear scattering model based on Boltsman equation is introduced to compute Compton X-ray backscattering field for the defect assessment. An adaptive filter is also used to reduce noises from many sources including quantum noise and irregular distributions of fibers and matrix in composites. Delaminations masked or distorted by the first delamination are detected and characterized effectively by the Compton X-ray backscatter technique, both in width and location, by application of error minimization algorithm.

This study prepared fabric-heating elements of carbon nanofiber composite to characterize morphologies and electrical properties. Carbon nanofiber composite was prepared with 15wt% PVDF-HFP/acetone solution, and 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16wt% carbon nanofiber. Dispersion of solution was conducted with stirring for a week, sonification for 24 hours, and storage for a month, until coating. Carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics were prepared by knife-edge coating on nylon fabrics with a thickness of 0.1mm. The morphologies of carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics were measured by FE-SEM. Surface resistance was determined by KS K0555 and worksurface tester. A heating-pad clamping device connected to a variable AC/DC power supply was used for the electric heating characteristics of the samples and multi-layer fabrics. An infrared camera applied voltages to samples while maintaining a certain distance from fabric surfaces. The results of morphologies indicated that the CNF content increased specifically to the visibility and presence of carbon nanofiber. The surface resistance test results revealed that an increased CNF content improved the performance of coated fabrics. The results of electric heating properties, surface temperatures and current of 16wt% carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics were $80^{\circ}C$ and 0.35A in the application of a 20V current. Carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics have excellent electrical characteristics as fabric-heating elements.
In this paper, we describe a case study of a new lab. project that improves efficiency for education and interest on learning in image processing and pattern recognition related subjects by using LEGO Mindstorms. In addition we verify the validity with analysis of the practical application. LEGO Mindstorms is already used in many educational institution of several countries since about 10 years ago and various case studies have been published. The use of LEGO Mindstorms is generally positive but the negative comments about this exist. The main cause of negative opinion is from unpredictability. The unpredictability from mainly analog characteristics of robot can degrade the effective learning. The describing lab. project suppresses occurrence of unpredictability by minimizing dependence on robots. Students can concentrate on learning the related algorithms by minimizing the learning content and further consideration.

This study presents the application of aerial photographs and the Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite, KOMPSAT-1 Electro-Optical Camera(EOC) imagery in detecting change in an urban area that has been rapidly growing. For the study, we used multi-temporal images which were acquired by two different sensors. Image registration and resampling were rallied out before performing change detection in a common reference system with the same spatial resolution. for all of the images. Results from image differencing and image ratioing techniques show that panchromatic aerial photographs and KOMPSAT-1 EOC images collected by different sensors have potential to detect changes of urban features such as building, road and other man-made structure. And the optimal threshold values were suggested in applying image differencing and image ratioing techniques for change detection.
Current virtual game interfaces cannot comprehend our metaphor, cannot reflect on our natural behavior aspect, cannot make us immerse into a game, and makes a barrier between virtual game space and our real behavior. It is very meaningful issue to use real objects tightly related to human-being's behaviors or reactions for interacting with game applications. Interactive Augmented Reality interfaces may augment users' perception of the real world by adding virtual information to it. We attempted an experiment on camera-based non-marker interface for online TCG application. This experiment uses real TCG cards which are recognized by our two phases Image KeyPoint Extraction/Matching Algorithm. These initiative experiments not only enlarge immersion and reality to the game, but also make real and virtual world seamless.

In this study, the feasibility of spectral domain optical Doppler tomography for measuring blood flow characteristics in a micro-tube was demonstrated through several experiments. The use of an SD-ODT system in blood flow measurement can provide high resolution images (5 microns resolution). We prepared three capillary tubes to reveal the effect of different concentrations of hematocrit ratio (HR). One tube serves as the control. The two other tubes contained different concentrations of HR (5%, 25%). Three different capillary tube inlet flow velocities were tested in the present study. The Reynolds number (Re) which is based on the capillary tube inner diameter ranges from Re=6 to 48. We calculated a Doppler shift of the power spectrum of the temporal interference fringes with Kasai autocorrelation function to achieve the velocity profile of the flow. As a result, SD-ODT systems could not detect the cell depletion layer in the present study due to the limitation of spatial resolution. Nevertheless, these systems were proven to be capable of observing the RBCs of blood.
A method for inspecting defects in display substrates utilizing Fourier optics is proposed in this paper. A cost-effective inspection system can be realized with the proposed method, because it does not require a high-magnification microscope. Also, the proposed method can avoid tight tolerance for variations in displacement between substrate and camera, which is stems from shallow depth of field of the high-magnification microscope. In addition, possible damage caused by collisions between substrate and the inspection equipment can be avoided. The decision algorithm can be simpler than for a conventional inspection system, because spatial shift of periodic substrate patterns does not affect the intensity distribution of the diffracted light, by the Fourier transform property. The proposed method is explained with numerical studies, and experiments are carried out to check its feasibility for color-filter substrates of a liquid-crystal display.
The Gas Metal Arc(GMA) welding, called Metal Inert Gas(MIG) welding, has been an important component in manufacturing industries. A key technology for robotic welding processes is seam tracking system, which is critical to improve the welding quality and welding capacities. The objectives of this study were to develop the intelligent and cost-effective algorithms for image processing in GMA welding which based on the laser vision sensor. Welding images were captured from the CCD camera and then processed by the proposed algorithm to track the weld joint location. The proposed algorithms that commonly used at the present stage were verified and compared to obtain the optimal one for each step in image processing. Finally, validity of the proposed algorithms was examined by using weld seam images obtained with different welding environments for image processing. The results proved that the proposed algorithm was quite excellent in getting rid of the variable noises to extract the feature points and centerline for seam tracking in GMA welding and could be employed for general industrial application.
The purpose of this study was to analyze whether quantitative evaluation of the color of the tongue substance using $L^*a^*b^*$ color coordinates system could minimize the problems arising from the different illuminating conditions or not. In controlled 4 different illuminating conditions (by natural light, flashlight, f-number, shutter speed),12 healthy subjects were photographed of their tongue substance through a digital camera (C-2100uz, Olympus Co.), both on the top surface and on the bottom surface of the tongue substance by two examiners, twice at 3 day intervals. Clinician evaluation was also performed grading the redness of the tongue substance in the form of 5-points scale by 6 clinicians. As a result, there was no significant difference in color differences between the color of the tongue substance and the reference red card in the 4 different illuminating conditions. Intra-rater reliability was satisfied and even though limitedly, inter-rater reliability was satisfied. Color differences were significantly correlated with the results by the clinicians, although they were applicable limitedly to specific illuminating conditions. Our results indicate that the application of the color differences in tongue diagnosis could not only evaluate the color information quantitatively, but also minimize the problems arising from the different illuminating conditions and that there was the significant difference in the visual evaluation of the red color of the tongue substance, both between the clinicians and between the illuminating conditions.
