  • In a COMA system, the capacity is variable and mainly depends on multiple access interference. The multiple access interference has a deep relationship with transmitted or received power. The capacity of COMA2000 system is considered to be limited by the forward link capacity. In this paper, we show that the forward link cell load can be represented by the total transmitted power of base station and we propose a forward link call admission control (CAC) strategy for COMA2000 system. The proposed call admission scheme adopts the rate control algorithm for data call. This call admission scheme enables the system to utilize radio resource dynamically by controlling data rate according to the cell load status, and enhance the system throughput and grade of service (GoS). quality of service(QoS) such as blocking and outage probability.

  • In order to provide various multimedia services in a wireless network, the call admission control for wireless channels should be resolved at the time of call setup and handoff by moving mobile terminal. In this paper. we propose a reliable DCAC( Distributed Call Admission Control)scheme using virtual cluster concept. The proposed DCAC scheme considers the state of $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ adjacent cells to provide a reliable call handling. The proposed scheme is analyzed by simulations and mathematical methods.

  • The future mobile communication system should be operated with hierarchical cellular system for providing high quality multimedia services within limited wireless resources. In this paper, we have studied a call admission control scheme applied in hierarchical CDMA cellular system nested with macro, macro, and pico cells. When the proposed call admission control algorithm was applied we got 20% more system capacity than no admission control was applied.

  • Admission control is one of the most important congestion control mechanism to be executed at the call set up phase by regulating traffic into a network in a preventive way. An efficient QOS evaluation or bandwidth estimation method is required for call admission to be decided in real time. In this paper, we spropose a computtionally simple approximation method of estimating cell loss probability and mean cell delay for admission control of both delay sensitive and loss sensitive calls. Mixed input queueing system, where a new call combines with the existing traffic, is used as a queueing model for QOS estimation. Also traffic parameters are suggested to characterize both a new call and existing traffic. Aggregate traffic is approximated by a renewal process with these traffic parameters and then mean delay and cell loss probability are detemined using appropriate approximation formulas. The accuracy of this approximation approach is examined by comparing their results with exact analysis or simulation results of vrious mixed unput queueing systems. Based on this QOS estimation method, call admission control scheme which is traffic independent and computable in yeal time are proposed.

  • DiffServ network architecture does not define a call admission control procedure explicitly. In this paper, a new DiffServ QoS control mechanism is suggested which, after the call admission control, can execute packet process according to the class while, at the same time, executing on the flow based call admission control in the DiffServ network. Routers on the path from the source to the destination estimate the aggregated class traffic of the existing flows and the new incoming flow and then, perform a call admission control in accordance with the type of classes efficiently based on the required bandwidth per each class that can meet the user's QoS requirements. In order to facilitate the packet process according to the class after the flow based call admission control, a mechanism is suggested that can adjust the network resources to classes dynamically. The performance analysis on this mechanism is carried out through a simulation.

  • This paper proposes a call admission control scheme for delay guarantee in the wireless mesh networks. The admission of a new call is determined based on the expected delay inferred from the class level available bandwidth at nodes on the path. All nodes under the effects of the new call are considered in designing the call admission control scheme to maintain the delay guarantee of the pre-existing traffic. An effective technique for estimating the available bandwidth of the neighbor nodes is proposed with no addition of message interchanges. The class-level delay control is mainly performed by the queueing discipline while keeping the MAC operation simple. Simulations are performed to show the validity of the proposals. We observe acceptable performances in delay expectation with the addition of new calls. We also show that the proposed call admission control is helpful in guaranteeing the delay performances.

  • Any future heterogeneous overlay network system must be able to support ubiquitous access across multiple wireless networks. To coordinate these diverse network environments, one challenging task is a call admission decision among different types of network. In this paper, we propose a new call admission control scheme to provide quality of service (QoS) while ensuring system efficiency. Based on the interplay between network structure and dynamics, we estimate the network's QoS level and adjust the service price adaptively with the aim of maximizing the network performance. A simulation shows that the proposed scheme can approximate an optimized solution while ensuring a well-balanced network performance in widely different network environments.

  • In this paper, a call admission contro(cac) technique is proposed to reduce the dropping probabilities of handoff calls in wireless networks while guaranteeing QoS to the users. The proposed technique is based on the estimated effective load for the target eel if a call is accepted. When the estimated effective load is higher than a predetermined threshold, a nu call is blocked and a handoff call is queued irrespective of the availability channels. The SRN, an extended Stochastic Petri Net, modes are constructed to compare the performance of the techniques. The SRN uses rewards concepts instead of the complicate numerical analysis required for the Markov chain modes. As a result, the SRN modeling techniques provide an easier way to carry out performance analysis for call admission control and channel allocation.

  • In this paper, an Ad-hoc Routing Protocol that works in wireless Ad-hoc communication networks with multiple radios and multiple channels and that controls call admission based on bandwidth measurement is proposed. Unlike the conventional Ad-hoc node with a single radio using a single channel, an Ad-hoc node of the protocol proposed, the MCQosR(Multiple Channel Quality of Service Routing), has multiple radios and uses multiple channels, which allows full duplex transmission between wireless Ad-hoc nodes, and reduces intra interference on the route. Also, a fixed channel only for reception at each node enables the estimation of the available bandwidth, which is used to control the call admission for QoS provision. The performance of the MCQosR was verified by simulation.

  • Effective call admission control is desirable to control an ATM traffics. It should provide high fairness and utilization for different kinds of services during call admission. Complete bandwidth sharing method is efficient for utilization of bandwidth but not efficient for fairness of call admission. Complete bandwidth partitioning method is efficient for fairness but not efficient for utilization. We propose a new CST(Complete Sharing with Threshold) algorithm using threshold on a total link to improve fairness and utilization.
