  • Purpose - This paper studies if types of markets have an association with several variables such as occupation, district, sales, employee, administrative district by a lessor, area in rental building and so on. Three attributes of markets can be general commercial zones, central commercial zones and traditional markets. Furthermore, we can investigate the degree of association by calculating the numerical strength and visualizing their distances on two-dimensional plane, once the association exists between them. Research design, data, and methodology - This work is performed by the 2013 report presented with Small Businessmen Promotion Institute in Korea and used by a chi-squared test and correspondence analysis by using IBM SPSS 23.0. Results - The results show that types of markets, including traditional markets, have an association with variables considered in this paper, and we can obtain the detailed associations between attributes of corresponding variables by inspecting two-dimensional plane. Conclusions - This study suggests that government authority and local autonomy can make strategies to vitalize traditional markets and to get win-win relationships among several types of markets by looking over our findings.

  • Spray dispersion in high pressure diesel engines have been simulated experimentally with a special emphasis on the effect of swirl by using a liquid injection technique. A constant volume chamber was designed to be rotatable in order to generate a continuous swirl and to have the flow field closely resembling a solid body rotation. Emulsified fuel was injected into the chamber and the developing process of fuel sprays was visualized. The effect of swirl on the spray dispersion was quantified by calculating non-dimensionalized dispersion area according to the spray tip penetration length. The results show that the effect of swirl on the spray dispersion is different between short and long spray penetrations. For short range of spray tip penetration, the effect of swirl on spray dispersion is quite small. However, as the spray tip is penetrated into longer distance in spray chamber, the effect of swirl on spray dispersion becomes larger. These results can be used as a basic data for designing combustion chamber and injection system of direct injection diesel engine.

  • In this paper, the stress and strain behavior in near homogeneous isotropic matrix of metal like steel was studied during roll forming of thin steel sheet for cylindrical pipe. Analytical result reveals a body which is on the area of square thickness along and perpendicular to the width of thin steel sheet is in the state of plane strain during roll forming. As a result, construction of analytical method for calculating deformation load and stably deformed length along the width of strained steel sheet was established. Also, loads applied during roll forming were analyzed using two typical thin steel sheets. 12.3mm thick steel sheet with 42.5kg/㎟ yield strength of pipe and 5.3mm thick steel sheet with 32.5kg/㎟ yield strength of pipe. Through this analysis, applicability of the analytical method for deformation load during roll forming of cylindrical thin steel pipe was evaluated with a study of necessary production technology for roll forming and design technology for roll forming machine.

  • Reasonably accurate estimation of the exposed population to the distinct levels of noise is essential to the efficient management of urban environmental noise. This study proposes a method of calculating the number of exposed people to industrial noise by using GIS tool and noise mapping. The exposed population of noise based on estimation of the number of people that lived in each building in urban area is compared with the one based on density of population. This study suggests the six step method that consists of gathering the fundamental data, extracting the property from the digital map, noise mapping based on the three dimensional topography, estimating population that lives in each building, merging the various results with GIS tool, and estimating exposed population to industrial noise through analyzing the noise map with GIS tools

  • The introduction of aviation into the EU-ETS has faced significant opposition from many ICAO member States. Accordingly a global solution through ICAO is in progress. This paper traces the progress of works done by the HGCC in the area of global aviation aspiration goals aiming for the submission to the 38th Session of the ICAO Assembly. Furthermore, devices for calculating the carbon dioxide emissions from flights have been developed by several agencies including international organizations, governments, airlines and nongovernmental organizations. These carbon calculators, however, introduce too many assumptions to simplify the calculation process. This study assesses carbon calculators for aviation emissions and suggests a modified calculation methodology using the pre-existing computer reservation system for better accuracy.

  • The digital map expresses natural topographies and artificial things with 3D position coordinates in the computer such as the road, railway, building, river, mountain, paddy and dryland. Therefore, the digital map is regarded as an important factor in the information-oriented society. However, it is difficult to maintain the most recent topographic information all the times because of restricted budget and time. For that, the efficient method corresponded with the digital map should be presented. This study aims to suggest the way to make an estimate of updating cost for 1:5,000 scale digital map by using remotely sensed data. To predict updating area of the digital map, the screen digitizing method was applied to the overlapped images and digital map

  • The recent introduction of Metal spraying method apply to construction and civil steel structure is increasing. In applying the metal spraying lining process of construction and civil steel structure to secure the adhesion strength between the metal thermal spray coating and the steel structure and the highest priority requirements are required bond strength test reliable measurement accordingly. In this study, by calculating the deposition intensity and the standard deviation, coefficient of variation corresponding to the bonding area, unlike the shape of the attachment we compared the results.

  • This paper describes an improved location determination scheme based on the triangulation method calculating a target position. The proposed scheme uses coordinates of intersection points of three circles each generated by measurement of an observer. The target position obtained from the proposed scheme has higher accuracy not only at the vicinity, but also at the periphery of the observation area. The maximum error and the average error with the proposed scheme are reduced by 40.89% and 40.30%, respectively, with respect to conventional methods.

  • The purposes of this study were to determine an algorithm for estimating agricultural water demand of remote sites using remote sensing data and to apply it to Hwanghae South Province and estimate the present and potential water demand for agriculture use. 3 Landsat-5 TM images and DEM(100${\times}$100mm) were used for classification of the existing land cover and land suitability analysis for paddy fields. Also, 20 years meteorological data of North Korea were used for calculating the potential evapotranspiration by Blaney-Criddle eq. and net water demand. The results showed that the present and potential agricultural water demand and the developable area for paddy fields is about 89,300㏊.

  • This paper presents a hierarchical framework for managing the sampling distribution of a particle filter (PF) that estimates the global positions of mobile robots in a large-scale area. The key concept is to gradually improve the accuracy of the global localization by fusing sensor information with different characteristics. The sensor observations are the received signal strength indications (RSSIs) of Wi-Fi devices as network facilities and the range of a laser scanner. First, the RSSI data used for determining certain global areas within which the robot is located are represented as RSSI bins. In addition, the results of the RSSI bins contain the uncertainty of localization, which is utilized for calculating the optimal sampling size of the PF to cover the regions of the RSSI bins. The range data are then used to estimate the precise position of the robot in the regions of the RSSI bins using the core process of the PF. The experimental results demonstrate superior performance compared with other approaches in terms of the success rate of the global localization and the amount of computation for managing the optimal sampling size.
