Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) are an emerging discipline that involves engineered computing and communicating systems interfacing the physical world. The widespread applications of CPSs still face enormous challenges because of the lack of theoretical foundations. In this technical survey, we review state-of-the-art design techniques from various angles. The aim of this work is to provide a better understanding of this emerging multidisciplinary methodology. The features of CPSs are described, and the research progress is analyzed using the following aspects: energy management, network security, data transmission and management, model-based design, control technique, and system resource allocation. We focus on CPS resource optimization, and propose a system performance optimization model with resource constraints. In addition, some classic applications (e.g., integrating intelligent road with unmanned vehicle) are provided to show that the prospects of CPSs are promising. Furthermore, research challenges and suggestions for future work are outlined in brief.
In this article, the author carried out a theoretical study on the application techniques of a new Combined Passive Solar System (hereinafter referred to as the CPSS) of direct gain and trombe walls to get quick morning heating and to prevent afternoon overheating for office building. The numerical model proposed in this study can be used for the performance analysis of the CPSS in the winter and summer. Heating and Cooling loads are analysed for building energy consumption reduction using this numerical model. The results indicate that CPSS in the winter and summer modes could provide profitable conditions for improvement of indoor thermal comfort control and energy saving. consequently, the application of CPSS will not lead to significant reductions in the auxiliary air conditioning demand but also realize the environmentally friendly building.
In this paper, a novel and robust Power System Stabilizer (PSS) is proposed as an effective approach to improve stability in electric power systems. The dynamic performance of proposed PSS has been thoroughly compared with Conventional PSS (CPSS). Both the Real Coded Genetic Algorithm (RCGA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) techniques are applied to optimum tune the parameter of both the proposed PSS and CPSS in order to damp-out power system oscillations. Due to the high sufficiency of both the RCGA and PSO techniques to solve the very non-linear objective, they have been employed for solution of the optimization problem. In order to verify the dynamic performance of these devices, different conditions of disturbance are taken into account in Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) power system. Moreover, to ensure the robustness of proposed PSS in damping the power system multi-mode oscillations, a Multi Machine (MM) power system under various disturbances are considered as a test system. The results of nonlinear simulation strongly suggest that the proposed PSS significantly enhances the power system dynamic stability in both of the SMIB and MM power system as compared to CPSS.
The objectives of this study were to prepare a new artificial eardrum patch using water-insoluble chitosan for healing the tympanic membrane perforations and to investigate biomechanical properties and cyotoxicity of the chitosan patch scaffold (CPS). Tensile strength and elongation at the rupture point of CPSs were 2.49-74.05 MPa and 0.11-107.06%, respectively. As the biomechanical properties or CPSs varied with the concentration of chitosan and glycerol, the proper conditions for the CPS were found out. SEM analysis showed very smooth and uniform surface of CPSs without pores at x1000. The result of MTT test showed that CPSs had no cytotoxicity.
This study has to do with creative product in mathematics. We analyze Taylor's creative product according to a different developmental level of creativity, Taylor's creative product inventory, Besemer & Treffinger's creative products analysis matrix, O'Quin & Besemer's creative products semantic scale(CPSS) etc. The purpose of this study is to make creative products semantic scale in mathematics. O'Quin & Besemer's CPSS consists of 55 items, bipolar adjective checklist. We confirm that O'Quin & Besemer's CPSS is not fit to use for mathematics creative products. So we develop Creative Product Semantic Scale in Mathematics(MCPSS) which consists of 33 items, bipolar adjective checklist. Our result will provide convenience to mathematics teacher who guides a student make a creative product.
This study aimed to report three new cases of an association between two rare conditions, congenital portosystemic shunts (CPSS) and trimethylaminuria (TMAU), and the efficacy of endovascular closure of the CPSS for resolving TMAU. Between November 2014 and April 2017, 15 patients with CPSS were enrolled in this prospective study to assess the efficacy of percutaneous endovascular shunt closure. Three patients presented with clinical symptoms of TMAU that were confirmed by urine analysis of trimethylamine (TMA) and TMA n-oxide. One year after endovascular closure of the congenital portosystemic shunt, the same parameters were evaluated were obtained and the values were compared to the pretreatment values. The results indicated the disappearance of clinical symptoms of TMAU and normalization of the urine test parameters in two patients and no changes in one patient, who developed new portosystemic communications.

The current study is dedicated to design a novel coordinated controller to effectively increase power system rotor angle stability. In doing so, the coordinated design of an AVR (automatic voltage regulator), PSS2B, and TCSC (thyristor controlled series capacitor)-based POD (power oscillation damping) controller is proposed. Although the recently employed coordination between a CPSS (conventional power system stabilizer) and a TCSC-based POD controller has been shown to improve power system damping characteristics, neglecting the negative impact of existing high-gain AVR on the damping torque by considering its parameters as given values, may reduce the effectiveness of a CPSS-POD controller. Thus, using a technologically viable stabilizer such as PSS2B rather than the CPSS in a coordinated scheme with an AVR and POD controller can constitute a well-established design with a structure that as a high potential to significantly improve the rotor angle stability. The design procedure is formulated as an optimization problem in which the ITSE (integral of time multiplied squared error) performance index as an objective function is minimized by employing an IPSO (improved particle swarm optimization) algorithm to tune adjustable parameters. The robustness of the coordinated designs is guaranteed by concurrently considering some operating conditions in the optimization process. To evaluate the performance of the proposed controllers, eigenvalue analysis and time domain simulations were performed for different operating points and perturbations simulated on 2A4M (two-area four-machine) power systems in MATLAB/Simulink. The results reveal that surpassing improvement in damping of oscillations is achieved in comparison with the CPSS-TCSC coordination.

Access control is an essential security component in protecting sensitive data and services from unauthorized access to the resources in mission-critical Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs). CPSs are different from conventional information processing systems in such that they involve interactions between the cyber world and the physical world. Therefore, existing access control models cannot be used directly and even become disabled in an emergency situation. This paper proposes an adaptive Access Control model for Emergences (AC4E) for mission-critical CPSs. The principal aim of AC4E is to control the criticalities in these systems by executing corresponding responsive actions. AC4E not only provides the ability to control access to data and services in normal situations, but also grants the correct set of access privileges, at the correct time, to the correct set of subjects in emergency situations. It can facilitate adaptively responsive actions altering the privileges to specific subjects in a proactive manner without the need for any explicit access requests. A semiformal validation of the AC4E model is presented, with respect to responsiveness, correctness, safety, non-repudiation and concurrency, respectively. Then a case study is given to demonstrate how the AC4E model detects, responds, and controls the emergency events for a typical CPS adaptively in a proactive manner. Eventually, a wide set of simulations and performance comparisons of the proposed AC4E model are presented.

This paper describes the application of Fuzzy Power System Stabilizer(FPSS) for improving dynamic stability of power system. The Real-coding Genetic Algorithm(RGA) was applied to optimize gains of the inputs and outputs of the FPSS. The effectiveness of the proposed FPSS was demonstrated by simulation studies for single-machine infinite system. To show the superiority of the proposed FPSS, its performances were compared with those of Conventional Power System Stabilizer(CPSS) The proposed FPSS showed better control performances than the CPSS in three-phase ground fault under a normal load which was system condition in tuning FPSS. To show the robustness of the proposed FPSS, it was applied to damp the low frequency oscillations caused by disturbances such as three-phase ground fault under heavy and light load conditions. The proposed FPSS showed better performance than CPSS in terms of the settling time and damping effect for power system operation condition.
