Purpose: This study was designed to provide a systematic understanding of nursing students' knowledge, attitude and ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Fundamental data regarding CPR education was processed in order to analyze factors influencing knowledge, attitude and ability. Methods: A total of 663 nursing students from G city and South Jeolla Province participated in this study during March and April 2009. Questionnaires were used to gather the data. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients with SPSS WIN 12.0 were used for data analysis. Results: The mean score for knowledge regarding CPR was 7.84 of a total possible score of 15, for attitude, 39.90 of a total possible score of 55 and for performance ability, 40.17 of a total possible score of 75. There was a positive correlation between CPR knowledge, attitude and performance ability. As knowledge increased so did attitude and performance ability. Conclusion: In order to develop positive attitudes in nursing students toward the performance of CPR, we need to strengthen education related to CPR and create effective education programs which are focused particularly on practical training for the students.
This survey is mainly focus on identifying the efficacy of CPR training for 92 first responders who participated in the first aid and emergency rescue program dated on November 22 and November 24, 2000. First responders are trained and evaluated using AHA guideline for 4 hours. Data are analyzed by Percentage, Mean, T-test, F-test using SPSS program. The results for this study are as follows: 1. An average score for CPR evaluation is high as 1.71 of total score 2.0. 2. Between adult CPR and infant CPR, an average score for adult CPR is higher than infant CPR. The highest item of adult CPR and infant CPR is checking for unresponse(1.95 and 1.93), the lowest items are checking for circulation and chest compression position in the adult CPR and location of chest compression in the infant CPR 3. There are statistically significant differences in the evaluation score of CPR according to age, education level, occupation, job experience and emergency accident situation in the past.

Purpose : This study aimed to make comparison before and after CPR training for health college students (departments of visual optics, occupational therapy, and health welfare administration). The questionnaire consisted of self-efficacy, knowledge, and attitudes toward CPR affect performance ability. Through this study, the researchers tried to provide basic data in developing of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training programs and training methods for health college students. Methods : This study was applied to 83 health college students (departments of visual optics, occupational therapy, and health welfare administration) in G Province. Data were collected from September 22 to October 9, 2008. Analysis was performed by using SPSS WIN 12.0 Version program. Frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients were used. Statistical significance was based on p < .05. Results : 1. There was an increase with(${\rightarrow}$ in) 1.69 point before education and 3.01 after education of artificial ventilation(p < .001). There was an increase in 1.46 point before education and 3.24 after education of airway(p < .001). There was an increase in 1.54 point before education and 2.84 after education of chest compression location(p < .001). There was an increase in 1.97 point before education and 3.13 after education of chest compression(p < .001). 2. The difference between self-efficacy, knowledge, and attitude before and after CPR education, the self-efficacy increased from 2.08 point before education(p < .001 to 3.18 point after education. Knowledge increased from 2.09 point before education(p < .001) to 3.28 point after education. Attitude increased from 1.75 point before education(p < .001 to 3.05 point after education. 3. The correlation between self-efficacy, knowledge, and attitude toward CPR), was not changed before education. After education, knowledge showed quantitative correlation(r = .219, p < .05) with attitude. 4. In regression analysis with the aim of examining influence of self-efficacy, knowledge, and attitude upon performance ability, the effect wasn't given to performance ability before education. After education, the self-efficacy was indicated to have significant effect on performance ability(p < .05).
Purpose: In-hospital cardiac arrest is rare, but often results in high mortality rates. Early and effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is crucial for survival and nurses are often the first responders. This study aimed to investigate how inter-professional attitudes and educational burdens affect self-efficacy related to CPR performance following team-based CPR simulation training. Methods: This retrospective observational study analyzed data from a satisfaction survey conducted after team-based CPR training sessions between January and November 2022. Of the 454 nurses surveyed, 238 were included in the study after excluding those with ambiguous responses. Multiple regression analysis was performed to assess factors influencing CPR self-efficacy. The factors examined included inter-professional attitudes and educational burden. Results: Higher levels of inter-professional attitudes, particularly regarding teamwork roles and responsibilities, lower educational burden, and a positive perception of CPR competence were all associated with improved CPR-related self-efficacy. Participants who reported higher engagement in teamwork, lower task load, and greater confidence in their CPR abilities demonstrated higher self-efficacy in performing CPR. Conclusion: Enhancing the competencies of nurses who may act as initial responders in CPR situations within or outside hospital settings can help save lives and support public health.

Objectives: This study is a quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design study to compare and verify the educational effects between CPR Song.Video Self-Instruction and CPR VSI. Method: We selected total 58 subjects who were freshmen at the Dept of Emergency Medical technology, G College in G Metropolitan City and 28 of them were experimental group which had no experience to have CPR instruction and consented to take part in this research and 30 students were control group. Data were collected from Apr. 27 to 29, 2009. Data were analyzed with SPSS/PC+(version 14.0). and all significance level was set as p<0.05. Results: 1. In the knowledge of CPR, the knowledge level before CPR instruction was 2.17 out of 10 in experimental group and 1.86 in control group. After CPR instruction, experimental group got 9.07 and it meant the increase of 6.89 and control group showed increase to 7.16(p=0.000). 2. Self-efficacy of CPR showed 2.61 out of 10 in both experimental and control groups, and after CPR instruction, experimental group showed increase of 3.93 as 6.55 and control group showed increase of 3.91 as 6.52(p=0.000). 3. Accuracy of CPR performance was 0.32 out of 10 in experimental group and 0.40 in control group. After CPR instruction, experimental group got 9.25 and showed increase of 8.92 and control group got 9.20 and showed increase of 8.80(p=0.000). 4. Study satisfaction was 4.22 out of 5 in experimental group and 3.04 in control group, and experimental group was higher than control group. there was no statistically significant difference. Conclusions: This study found that CPR Song;Video Self-Instruction achieved better results than CPR VSI. With these results, it is considered that CPR instruction for college students through mass communication or video will be very helpful.
This study is focused on middle school students who are composed of a factor in medical emergency system. In the case of cardiac failure, it is to make its basic data and develop its education program of CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation) which can increase the patient's survival rate before his hospitalization. The findings of this study is as follows. The subject of study is composed of 117 persons who are 54 boy-students(46.2%) and 63 girl-students(53.8%) in sex and 72 first-grade students(61.5%) and 45 second-grade students (38.5%) in a school year. In the accuracy degree, the practice of artificial respiration is $42.28{\pm}34.42%$ in case of basic CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation). The accuracy degree of the thorax pressure is $82.17{\pm}15.40%.$ In the accuracy degree, the practice of artificial respiration is $92.16{\pm}25.68%$ in boy-students and $20.38{\pm}24.16%$ in girl-students, the second-grade students is $58.40{\pm}33.29%$, which is higher than the first-grade students' $32.21{\pm}31.14%$. In the accuracy degree, the thorax pressure is $92.16{\pm}3.91%$ in boy-studetns and $73.61{\pm}16.41%$ in girl-students. In the accuracy degree of the thorax pressure, the second-grade students are $82.60{\pm}16.54%$ and the first-grade students $81.91{\pm}3.91$, which doesn't show any significant difference in school year. The satisfaction degree after theory & practice education is $2.12{\pm}.85$. In the satisfaction degree of its basic CPR, girl-students are $2.14{\pm}.83$ and boy-students are 2.11. In the satisfaction degree of its basic CPR, the second-grade students are $2.40{\pm}.61$ and the first-grade students are $1.95{\pm}.94$. This study is to lead to some suggestions. First, it is necessary to develop the education program and educate its knowledge & technology in proportion to student's characteristics of sex and school year. Second, education authorities should develop a subject of the accident prevention and first-aid treatment in its curriculum and provide the practical education of CPR for adults, adolescents and children. Third, it is necessary to study the education program as well as the education evaluation of CPR further on.
The purpose of this study is to provide the general public with basic data to facilitate the application of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation(CPR). There were two groups using CPR mannequin and CPR cube, and participants were given three days of CPR training and two weeks later evaluated for chest compression. Participants recorded chest compression depth, rate of chest compression, accuracy of chest compression, insufficient recoil and incomplete place. There was a statistically significant difference in insufficient recoil and incomplete place in the study. The use of CPR cube to expand CPR education is also believed to be useful in terms of confidence and quality in implementing CPR.
Objectives: This study provided students of University with CPR (cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training and investigated their knowledge on the training, attitude, level difference, and re-training necessity related factors to find the results as follows; Methods: Frequency and t-test was performed using SPSS 21.0, and were conducted according to the need for re-education in order to determine the determinants of the students. Results: The knowledge on CPR was 10.88 on average; training necessity, 3.43; emergency response ability, 3.39; and CPR performance level, 3.10. Factors determining re-training to maintain educational effect were found to increase with increase in school year (p<0.001), training necessity escalation (p<0.001), and decrease in confidence of performing CPR (p<0.01). Conclusions: Based on the findings above, it was found that, although CPR training is generally conducted in dental hygiene education, its training effect decreased with time in terms of implementation performance, compared with students' knowledge. Moreover, students who had completed the training strongly suggested the need for re-training. In this sense, schools will need to reinforce re-training as much as new training programs and the cycle needs to be as short as within 6 months for practical training system.
Purpose: This study aimed to compare the effect of chest compression and the resulting ventilation volume in walking cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), straddling CPR, and mechanical CPR while moving manikins to main stretchers. Methods: We compared the chest compressions in terms of compression depth, number of incomplete releases, complete release depth, compression rate, duration between peak time of previous compression and peak time of current compression, and respiration. We analyzed the compression comparatively with the ventilation volume in three different types of CPR. Results: The chest compression depth was significantly improved during straddling CPR as compared to walking CPR, during which women were unable to achieve sufficient chest compression depth. A constant chest compression depth was maintained during mechanical CPR. Conclusion: High-quality chest compressions were difficult to achieve in moving spaces. Further, walking CPR may be helpful in men, but straddling or applying automatic chest compressions in women would result in more effective CPR. Our findings demonstrate the limitations and trends in administering CPR in men and women, which may be useful in devising better education and training methods in the future.
This research, by analyzing the current first aid education status in K district, Seoul and comparing first aid education systems in other developed countries, introduces the need of first aid/Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) education with Automated External Defibrillator(AED) usage to high school students, who are on the verge of becoming adults. The thorough research shows that schoolsshould be appointed as mandatory facilities for AEDs by laws and execute first aid education to their students. Only through organized and consistent first aid education would the students develop into true volunteers who not only have altruistic minds, but the ability to fluently adapt to medical emergency and properly use AED. In addition, the research also outlines various laws that could be legislated such as having to master the basic degrees of first aid education before getting driver's license and graduating high school so that more people become aware of first aid.
