A Study on the Entrepreneurship and Marketing Activity in Distribution & Service

  • Purpose - This research identified the factors to be considered when CEOs establish small companies and improve their businesses by analyzing the effects of their entrepreneurship and marketing activities on the business performance of small companies and suggested measures to utilize them strategically. Research design, data, and methodology - The research conducted a survey for companies located in Busan, and Gyeongnam area in Korea. To verify the model and hypothesis mentioned above, relevant items were allocated to each variable. Results - the research found that the innovation of entrepreneurship negatively affects formalization and centralization along with the propensity for risk-taking which negatively affects all the characteristics of an organization's structure. It was also found that the pro-activeness which was rejected in the selection and verification of hypothesis is the CEOs characteristics which positively affect all of the organization type are contrary to the initial hypothesis. Conclusions - The results of these efforts will positively contribute toward developing a start-up strategy helpful for small companies CEOs, to change the business environment proactively, to operate their organization efficiently and to develop market-oriented marketing activities and objectives. This research found the role of market-oriented characteristics demanded by the CEO to overcome organizational structure, business innovation and bad business situations.

  • This study aims examining a few elements representing a family-friendly corporate environment such as the attitude of CEOs, corporate culture, the support from direct supervisors and their influence on the sense of self-efficacy and career success of women managers. The summary and conclusion of the result of this study is as follows; first, the positive attitude of CEOs as one of the representing elements for family-friendly corporate environment was found to affect the sense of self-efficacy and the career success of married women managers with positive effects. Second, the support of superiors turned out to have a positive effect on career development of women managers. Finally, the sense of women's self-efficacy turned out to affect career success of women managers. For the use of female resources as a growth power, the attitude of CEOs who promote gender equality, and the support of supervisors will play a very important part, and in order to build a corporate culture with gender equality, promotion and policy-making on corporate as well as government level are required.

A Study on Performance Improvement and Perception Difference of SMEs Using TPB: Focusing on Corporate Ethical Responsibility Activities, Personal Characteristics and POS

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to elucidate the perception differences between CEOs and employees, and to derive a plan for improving performance by using theory of planned behavior (TPB) to enhance the competitiveness of SMEs exposed to various difficulties until recently. Research design, data and methodology - A total of 238 valid questionnaires were collected for CEOs and members of SMEs. In order to clarify the difference of perception, independent sample t-test and multi-group analysis using AMOS were conducted. Simple regression analysis and structural equation were used to confirm whether the theory of planned behavior was applied at the level of SME. Results - The CEO group is more aware of company's ethical responsibility activities and organizational support than the group of employees, and collectivism contributes more to organizational development than individualism tendency. Also, the theory of planned behavior is applied to the SME level as well. Conclusion - This study suggest that CEOs need to accept the pluralism of their members for the development of SMEs. In addition, it is necessary to form a consensus on ethical responsibility activities that corporations are performing by supporting diverse strategies and members' participation in management decision-making.

대전지역 최고 경영자의 인적결속이 경영성과에 미치는 영향연구 (A Study on the Influence of Management Performance on Human Solidarity of CEOs in Daejeon Area)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대전지역의 중소벤처기업 최고 경영자들의 인적 결속이 기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써, 이 지역 기업경영에 대한 시사점을 제공하기 위함이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 대전지역 소재 중소 벤처기업의 최고 경영자를 대상으로 2018년 3월 20일부터 5월 20일까지 212개의 자료를 회수하여 SPSS통계 프로그램을 통해 실증 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 최고 경영자의 인적 결속인 '직연'과 '학연'은 정부 과제확보, 경영개선, 기업성장에 필요한 정보획득, 4차 산업혁명시대에서의 경쟁력 확보에 긍정적인 영향이 미치는 것이 확인 되었으며, '지연'부분은 경영성과에 영향이 미치지 못하는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구를 통하여 대전지역 기업의 지속적인 성장과 발전을 위해 첫째, 최고 경영자의 인적 결속의 고도화가 요구되어 지고 둘째, '지연' 부분이 약하기 때문에 최고 경영자 간에 상호신뢰 구축의 노력이 필요하며, 친밀한 관계가 형성되고 강한 연결로 이어질 수 있도록 노력해야 한다. 셋째, 대전지역에 설립되어 운영되고 있는 각각의 협회들은 최고 경영자들 간에 관계 형성을 위한 다양한 프로그램을 개발하고 운영하여 접촉의 기회를 확대시켜 나가야 한다는 시사점이 도출되었다.

스타트업 CEO 특성이 시리즈 A 투자단계 벤처기업의 투자금액에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of the Characteristics of Start-up CEOs on the Amount of Investment in Series A Round)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 스타트업 CEO의 특성이 투자유치 성과에 미치는 영향을 시리즈 A 투자 관점에서 분석하는 데 있다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 스타트업 CEO의 학력 수준이 높을 때, 스타트업 경험이 있을 때, 투자유치 경험이 있을 때 벤처캐피탈 등 벤처투자자는 스타트업 투자에 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 미치고 있음을 발견하였다. 이는 통제변수를 도입하여도 체계적으로 유의하게 긍정적으로 나타났다. 하지만 직장 경험이 있을 때 스타트업 총투자금액에는 유의한 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있지 않았으나, 평균투자금액에는 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 총투자금액은 스타트업 경험이 있을 때가 투자유치 경험이 있을 때보다 표준화 계수의 크기가 크게 나타났으나, 평균투자금액은 투자유치 경험이 있을 때가 스타트업 경험이 있을 때보다 표준화 계수의 크기가 크게 나타났다. 이는 총투자금액에서는 스타트업 경험이, 평균투자금액에서는 투자유치 경험이 중요함을 시사하고 있다. 셋째, 시리즈 A 투자 시점에 스타트업의 매출액이 높으면 총투자금액 및 평균투자금액도 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 초기 스타트업은 비록 수익성이 떨어지거나 적자이더라도 어느 수준의 매출액이 확보되면 벤처캐피탈에게 매력적인 투자대상이 되는 것으로 보인다. 본 연구 결과는 벤처캐피탈의 투자의사결정 및 스타트업의 자금조달 전략을 수립하는데 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 그리고 스타트업을 준비하는 예비스타트업 CEO에게 주는 시사점은 학위의 취득을 통해 전문성을 갖추고 스타트업에 도전하여 스타트업 경험을 쌓고 투자유치를 경험하면 총투자금액이 증가할 것이라는 점이다. 스타트업 경험이 없더라도 관련된 산업에서 직장경험을 한다면 평균적으로 투자받을 수 있는 금액이 증가할 수 있음을 시사한다.

패션기업 CEO의 리더십이 직원의 신뢰, 직무만족 및 직무몰입에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of CEO Leadership on Employee Trust, Job Satisfaction, and Commitment in Fashion Companies)

  • This study examines how CEO leadership influences employee trust, job satisfaction, and commitment in fashion companies. A survey was conducted from June 17 to July 15 in 2009. The data were collected from fashion company employees in the Seoul metro area and 360 respondents were used in the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are the transactional leadership of CEOs in fashion companies classified by contingent reward leadership and management through exceptional leadership. The transformational leadership of CEOs in fashion companies is classified by charismatic leadership and individualized consideration leadership. Second, CEO's contingent reward leadership, charismatic leadership, and individualized consideration leadership influence employee trust in the CEO. Third, the employee trust in the CEO has an effect on job satisfaction and commitment in fashion companies.

CIO제도의 임용 이전과 임용 이후 요인에 대한 연구 (What Makes CIOs Successful?: Ex-Ante vs. Ex-Post Appointment Factors)

  • In order to investigate how firms appoint and manage successful CIOs, this study reviews previous literatures and finds major factors affecting the performance of CIOs, Eight factors are found and classified into two groups based on time horizon characteristics: ex ante factors before appointment and ex post factors after appointment. These eight factors are also re-classified into three groups based on the degree of interaction between CIOs and CEOs: CIO factors, CEO factors, and interaction factors between CIOs and CEOs. In order to investigate how these sub-groups affect the performance of CIOs, we have conducted case studies on 6 firms that are considered to have successful CIOs. The results indicate that ex ante factors, for instance, a factor whether the CIO is appointed from inside or outside of the firm, need to be carefully considered for the successful ex post management of CIO positions. This study derives several managerial guidelines and finally proposes a future research model for empirical studies.

SI 기업 CEO의 인적특성과 재임년수에 관한 연구 (The CEO Tenure and Profiles of SI Companies)

  • In this study, we report the summary characteristics of CEOs of SI firms in Korea. In the first part of our paper, age, educational background, and career of CEOs in SI firms are analyzed according to CEO types (owners versus professional managers). In the second part, CEO tenures of Si firms in Korea are compared with those in the U.S. and Japan. We found that CEO tenures of SI firms in Korea are remarkably shorter than those in the U.S. and Japan. In conclusion, we contend that CEO systems in Korean firms should be improved to guarantee the longer tenures especially for professional managers.

기업의 해외시장 집중화가 애널리스트 성과예측정보에 미치는 영향: 최고경영자 특성의 조절효과 (The Effects of Firms' Foreign Market Focus on the Bias of Analysts' Earnings Forecasts: Focusing on CEO Characteristics)

  • This paper investigates the effects of firms' foreign market focus on the optimistic bias of analysts' earnings forecasts. Based on a sample of 852 U.S. manufacturing firms between 1994 and 2015, our empirical results suggest that higher growth of foreign market focus is associated with greater levels of analysts' forecast optimism. Drawing on the CEO career horizon and the upper echelon theory literature, we find evidence that CEOs' career horizon and functional background as a CFO moderates the relationship between the growth rate of foreign market focus and analysts' forecast optimism. This shows that while financial analysts perceive internationalization strategies as signaling growth potential, such perception can vary depending on CEOs' individual characteristics.

의료기관 평가제도에 대한 인식조사와 개선방안 고찰 (Opinions and Strategies on the National Hospital Evaluation Program)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to investigate opinions and experiences of hospital CEOs' and QI managers toward the National Hospital Evaluation Program which was implemented in 2004 and to recommend various strategies to improve the program. Methods: We conducted a mail survey with CEOs and QI managers' of 78 hospitals with 500 beds or more that participated the 2004 National Hospital Evaluation Program. Results: About 70.8% of the participating CEOs and 64.0% of the QI managers felt that the objectives of the evaluation program weren't fully achieved. Most respondents said that the current program required a partial or an overall change. Evaluation Criteria was the most often cited area for a change. Many respondents pointed out the importance of including clinical quality indicators in the evaluation tool. Conclusions: To upgrade hospital services with better quality, it is most important to first reach consensus on objectives and approaches of the evaluation program among various players. For a consistent planning and implementation, it is urgent to set up a more systematic organization and financing mechanism. Also, evaluation approaches, including evaluation criteria, methods, patient satisfaction assessment, as well as ways to summarize and publicize each hospital's performance should be improved.
