New devices with the structure of ITO/2-TNATA/NPB/TCTA/CBP:$7%Ir(ppy)_3$/BCP/SFC-137/LiF/Al were designed and fabricated to develop high efficiency green phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes and their electroluminescence properties were evaluated. Among the devices with different thicknesses of CBP in a range of $150{\AA}{\sim}350{\AA}$, the best luminance was obtained in the device with $300{\AA}$-thick CBP host. Nearly saturated current efficiencies indicates that the maximum efficiency value can be obtained with CBP thicknesses of $300{\AA}{\sim}350{\AA}$. The current density, luminance, and current efficiency of the PhOLED(phosphorescent organic light emitting diode) with $CBP(300{\AA}):7%Ir(ppy)_3-emissive$ layer at an applied voltage of 10V were $40mA/cm^2,\;10000cd/m^2$, and 25 cd/A, respectively. The maximum current efficiency was 40.5cd/A under the luminance of $160cd/m^2$. The peak wavelength and FWHM(full width at half maximum) in the electroluminescence spectral were 512nm and 60nm, respectively. The color coordinate was (0.28, 0.63) on the CIE (Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage) chart.
The riverbed structures and heavy metal concentrations of the sediments in the Naktong River, Western Naktong River, and Suyoung Stream were investigated, and then the correlationships between heavy metals were examined. Naktong River was the deepest among the three streams. The deepest and the shallowest sites were site 11(11.58m) and 9(3.35m) in Naktong River, site 7(6.25m) and 4(2.06m) in Western Naktong River, add site 8(2.89m) and 1(0.61m) in Suyoung Stream, respectively. The mean concentration of Cd(45.79ppm) was higher in the sediment of Western Naktong River than in other two streams and those of Pb(76.25ppm), Cr(48.13ppm), and Cu(77.50ppm) were higher in the sediment of Suyovng Stream than in other two streams. The analytical results for correlationships between heavy metals showed that Cu was highly correlated with Cr and Pb was very highly correlated with Cr and Cu in Naktong River. Cu was relatively highly correlated with Cd and Cr and Cr was highly correlated with Pb in Western Naktong River Cd was relatively higlky correlated with Pb and Cu and Cr and Cd, Pb, Cu and Pb, Cr were highly correlated in Suyoung Stream.
Polycrystalline CdS thin films were grown on ceramic substrate using a chemical bath deposition method. They were annealed at various temperature and X-ray diffraction patterns were measured by X-ray diffractometer in order to study CdS polycrystal structure. Using extrapolation method of X-ray diffraction patterns for the CdS samples annealed in $N_{2}$ gas at $550^{\circ}C$ it was found hexagonal structure whose lattice constants $a_{o}$ and $c_{o}$ were $4.1364{\AA}$ and $6.7129{\AA}$, respectively. Its grain size was about $0.35{\mu}m$. Hall effect on this sample was measured by Van der Pauw method and studied on carrier density and mobility defending on temperature. From Hall data, the mobility was likely to be decreased by piezo electric scattering at temperature range of 33K and 150k and by polar optical scattering at temperature range of 150K and 293K. We measured also spectral response, sensitivity (${\gamma}$), maximum allowable power dissipation and response time on these samples.
To examine the characteristics of the recombinant thin aggregative fimbriae of Salmonella, the AgfA subunit gene was amplified from Salmonella enteritidis using a PCR. The maltose binding protein (MBP)-AgfA fusion protein was overproduced in E. coli and purified. The secondary structure of AgfA was then elucidated from the difference CD spectra. An estimation of the secondary structure of AgfA using the self-consistent method revealed a mostly ${\beta}-sheet$ structure.
HI0381 of Haemophilus influenzae was investigated by circular dichroism (CD) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. HI0381 is a 153-residue peptidoglycan-associated outer membrane lipoprotein, and a part of the larger Tol/Pal network. Here, we report its backbone $^1H$, $^{15}N$, and $^{13}C$ resonance assignments, and secondary structure predictions. About 97% of all of the $^1HN$, $^{15}N$, $^{13}CO$, $^{13}C{\alpha}$, and $^{13}C{\beta}$ resonances covering 131 non-proline residues of the 134 residue, mature protein, were clarified by sequential and specific assignments. CSI and TALOS analyses revealed that HI0381 contains five ${\alpha}$-helices and five ${\beta}$-strands. To characterize the structure of HI0381, the effects of pH and salt concentration were investigated by CD. In addition, the structural changes occurring when HI0381 was in a membranous environment were investigated by comparing its HSQC spectra and CD data in buffer and in DPC micelles; the results showed that helix ${\alpha}4$ and strand ${\beta}4$ became aligned with the membrane. We conclude that the conformation of HI0381 is affected by the membrane environment, implying that its folded state is directly related to its function.
The reactions of 1H-1,2,4-triazole (Htr) with $MX_2$ ($ZnCl_2$ for 1; $CdBr_2$ for 2) resulted in two coordination polymers, [Zn(tr)Cl]$_n$ (1) and $[Cd(Htr)_2Br_2]_n$ (2). The structural analyses indicate that 1 and 2 feature a 2D layer and 1D triple chain, respectively. In 1, neighouring Zn atoms are connected by ${\mu}_3-1$${\kappa}N$: 2 ${\kappa}N$: $4{\kappa}N-tr^-$ anionic ligand into 6- and 16-membered rings, further grow into a 2D sheet. Cd atoms in 2 are bonded by two ${\mu}_2-Br^-$ bridges and neutral ${\mu}_2$-1 ${\kappa}N$: 2 ${\kappa}N$-Htr to form a 1D triple chain. The fluorescent characterizations of 1, 2 and the free Htr ligand feature simlilar emission peakes at 444, 446 and 423 nm respectively, which can be assigned to intra-ligand ${\pi}-{\pi}^*$ transition of (H)tr. The energy gaps of 5.90 eV for 1, 5.16 eV for 2, and 5.93 eV for Htr suggest that the compounds behave as insulators.

Many researchers have been tried to improve the performance of the phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode(PHOLED) by controlling of the dopant profile in the emission layer. In this work, as shown in Fig. 1 insert, a typical red PHOLED device which has the structure of ITO/NPB(50nm)/CBP(30nm)/TPBi(10nm)/Alq3(20nm)/LiF(0.8nm)/Al(100nm) is fabricated with a 5nm thick doping section in the emission layer. The doping section is formed by co-deposition of CBP and Ir(btp)2acac with a doping concentration of 8%, and it's location(x) is changed from HTL/EML interface to EML/HBL in 5nm steps. The current efficiency versus current density of the devices are shown in Fig. 1. By changing the location of doping section, as shown in Fig. 1 and 2, at x=5nm, the efficiency shows the maximum of 3.1 cd/A at 0.5 mA/cm2 and it is slightly decreased when the section is closed to HTL and slightly increased when the section is closed to HBL. If the doping section is closed to HTL(NPB) the excitons can be quenched easily to NPB's triplet state energy level(2.5eV) which is relatively lower than that of CBP(2.6eV). Because there is a hole accumulation at EML/HBL interface the efficiency can be increased slightly when the section is closed to HBL. Even the thickness of the doping section is only 5nm,. the maximum efficiency of 3.1 cd/A with x=5 is closed to that of the homogeneously doped device, 3.3 cd/A, because the diffusion length of the excitons is relatively long. As a result, we confirm that the current efficiency of the PHOLED can be improved by the doping profile optimization such as partially, not homogeneously, doped EML structure.
Photosynthesis uses light energy to drive the oxidation of water at an oxygen-evolving catalytic site within photosystem II (PSII). Chlorophyll binding by the photosystem II subunit S protein, PsbS, was found to be necessary for energy-dependent quenching (qE), the major energy-dependent component of non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) in Arabidopsis thaliana. It is proposed that PsbS acts as a trigger of the conformational change that leads to the establishment of nonphotochemical quenching. However, the exact structure and function of PsbS in PSII are still unknown. Here, we clone and express the recombinant PsbS gene from Arabidopsis thaliana in E. coli and purify the resulting homogeneous protein. We used various biochemical and biophysical techniques to elucidate PsbS structure and function, including circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence, and DSC. The protein shows optimal stability at $4^{\circ}C$ and pH 7.5. The CD spectra of PsbS show that the conformational changes of the protein were strongly dependent on pH conditions. The CD curve for PsbS at pH 10.5 curve had the deepest negative peak and the peak of PsbS at pH 4.5 was the least negative. The fluorescence emission spectrum of the purified PsbS protein was also measured, and the ${\lambda}_{max}$ was found to be at 328 nm. PsbS revealed some structural changes under varying temperature and oxygen gas condition.
${\beta}-catenin$ is a key signaling protein which regulates cell signaling and gene transcription. Abnormal activation of ${\beta}-catenin$ is linked to many cancers, particularly with colorectal cancers. Although many genetic and biological studies on $Wnt/{\beta}-catenin$ have been reported and structures of the complex between ${\beta}-catenin$ and its diverse binding partners have been published, many of them have focused on armadillo repeat domain of ${\beta}-catenin$. Both N- and C-terminal domains have been suggested to regulate interactions of ${\beta}-catenin$ with other molecules, but still little is known about the C-terminal unstructured domain. To investigate the structure of this domain, construct of C-terminus was designed and structural studies were performed using size exclusion chromatography (SEC), circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. We observed that not only the purified full-length construct but the purified C-terminal construct also dimerizes in solution by SEC, suggesting that this domain involves in dimerization of ${\beta}-catenin$. CD and fluorescence data indicate its flexibility and structural formation in the presence of membrane environments.
