  • Substituent effect of the leaving groups of the reaction of benzyl arenesulfonate with dimethylanilines in acetone at $35^{\circ}C$ was obtained with the following results. 1. Substituent effect of the leaving groups was not variable when changed from pyridine to N,N-dimethylaniline in nucleophile 2.In acetone, the Hammett ${\sigma}$ constant of p-MeO of the leaving group was -0.35. 3. The weaker the nucleophilicity in dimethylaniline, the stronger the movement of electron from N to C, and the cleavage of the C${\ldots}$0 bond in transition state proceeds.

Changes of Lipids in Raw and Processed Adlay Powder during Storage (율무가루 저장중 지방질 조성의 변화)

  • Raw adlay powder(RAP) and processed adlay powder(PAP) were prepared and the changes of lipids in RAP and PAP during storage at $5^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$ for six months were studied. The typical patterns of lipid oxidation were observed during the storage; the values of acid, peroxide and carbonyl in the lipids were increased and the iodine value was decreased. These changes were especially significant(P<0.05) at higher temperature($35^{\circ}C$) and were more notable in the lipids from RAP than those from PAP during storage. The contents of neutral lipid, glycolipid and phospholipid were changed appreciably at $35^{\circ}C$, however, the changes were not significant(P<0.05) at $5^{\circ}C$. Further more, triglyceride in neutral lipid, digalactosyl diglyceride in glycolipid and phosphatidyl choline in phospholipid showed respectively a tendency of decrease during storage as compared with the other contents of lipid class.

  • The ambient temperature of the experimental conditions changes by varying the speed of the compressor and the electronic expansion valve opening. The effects of changing valve opening to the entire system has been investigated. The results show that the ambient temperatures of $35^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ controlled at 30Hz must be avoided. The capacity control range of the control compressor with changing speed is about 43~100% at $35^{\circ}C$, 43~100% at $25^{\circ}C$ and 48~100% at $10^{\circ}C$, respectively. The results show the capacity control range decreases with decreasing ambient temperature.

  • The crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) mwmbranes with poly(styrene sulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) (PSSA-MA) were used to measure the water vapor and air permeabilities at 25 and $35^{\circ}C$. In addition, the contact angles of crosslinked PVA membranes were observed and increased with PSSA-MA contents. The water vapor permeability of 15300 Baller (1 Baller=$10^{-10}cm^3(STP){\cdot}cm/cm^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}cmHg$) was shown the maximum value at $35^{\circ}C$ when PSSA-MA=7 wt% membrane was used. The gas permeability of 146 Barrer was indicated the maximum at PSSA-MA=7 wt% at $35^{\circ}C$ and $P(H_2O)/P(Air)$ was the highest value 109.2 at $25^{\circ}C$.

Effect of Root Zone Temperature on the Growth and the Leaf Mineral Contents of Apple(Malus domestica Borkh) Trees (근권(根圈) 온도환경(溫度環境)이 사과나무의 생육(生育) 및 엽중(葉中) 무기성분함량(無機成分含量)에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the influence of root zone temperature on the growth of shoot and root and the mineral contents in leaf of 'Fuji/M26' apple tree. Shoot growth and enlargement of trunk girth increased linearly with increasing root zone temperature. Fresh and dry weight of root reached maximum at $35^{\circ}C$. Water content of root increased with rising root zone temperature. The chlorophyll content of leaves showed insignificant difference with root zone temperature. Leaf water potential was high at $35^{\circ}C$ at 15 day after treatment but 60 day after treatment this was decreased. The nitrogen content of the leaves was not different by root zone temperature whereas the phosphorus content of the leaves was increased at $30^{\circ}C$ in 1993 and at $25^{\circ}C$ in 1994. The potassium content of the leaves reached a maximum at $30^{\circ}C$ in 1993 and $25^{\circ}C$ in 1994. In 1994 the calcium content of the leaves was increased with rising root zone temperature and with lengthening duration of treatment but no such differences were found in 1993. The magnesium content of the leaves was highest at $25^{\circ}C$ in 1993 and at $20^{\circ}C$ in 1994. The nitrogen and potassium content of the roots were increased linearly with root zone temperature in 1993 and 1994 and the magnesium and phosphorus content of the roots were high at $35^{\circ}C$ in 1994 but no such differences were found in the calcium content of the roots.

  • The effects of the different temperatures on the amylase activity and growth rate of the rye seedling grown in the solutions containing radioactive sulfur- 35 were studied. The amylase activity of the coleoptiles obtained from the seedlings grown in the solutions of S-35, at 14$^{\circ}C$, appeared to be strongly stimulated in comparison to the control, but the culture temperatures of 22$^{\circ}C$ and 3$0^{\circ}C$ showed the decrease in the amylase activity. The amylase activity of the grains treated with the low intensity of the ratioactive material didn't show clear changes, at any culture temperatures, but the amylase activity of the grains treated with the high intensity of S-35, 50$\mu$c, showed definite decline at the elevated culture temperature, 3$0^{\circ}C$. Similar effects was also found in the growth of the seedlings. However, we would consider the effects of the radioactive materials on the acticity of the amylase and the growth of the seedlings are resulted from the accumulation of the much amount of the radioactive materials, and this accumulation rate depends upon actually the elevation of the culture temperature.

A Comparison of Volatile Compounds in Pine Extracts Obtained by Supercritical Fluid Extraction with Those by Simultaneous Steam Distillation and Solvent Extraction (초임계유체 추출과 SDE에 의한 솔 추출물의 휘발성분 비교)

  • Pine twigs with buds were cut into $2{\sim}3\;mm$ long pieces and about 18g was used for each experiment. Pressure and temperature ranges employed were $100{\sim}300\;bar$ and $35{\sim}55^{\circ}C$, respectively. Volatile compounds of extracts were isolated and identified by gas chromatography and mass selective detector. Twenty three compounds from the extracts were identified. Limonene and ${\beta}-pinene$ were found to be the major components with $32.6{\sim}43.4%$ being limonene. Extracts obtained by supercritical fluid extraction were lower in monoterpene and higher in oxygenated terpenoids than those by steam distillation and solvent extraction (SDE). Sensory evaluation showed that the pine flavor extracted using supercritical carbon dioxide was much better in quality than that of SDE. In conclusion, it was found out that supercritical fluid extraction can successfully be applied to extract high quality flavor from pine.

  • The authors attempted to investigate the oxygen consumption rate of sexuals in the water-striders, Gerris paludum insuralis, at four temperature groups of 25, 30, 35 and $40^\\circ C$ in a series of studies on respiration of a heminetabolous insects. THe results are summarised as follows: (1) At $30^\\circ C$, the change of oxygen consumption rate according to the lapse of time was small in comparison with the other three temperature groups which shows a cyclic decreasing pattern. The rate during initial and final 5 minutes was much alike. Thereupon, the optimum temperature was regarded as $30^\\circ C$. (2) The oxygen consumption rate of male was higher than that of female. (3) The oxygen consumption rates at 25, 30, 35 and $40^\\circ C$ were 0.42, 0.49, 0.79 and 1.11 $\\mu$l/mg/h respectively. That is, the rate was increased as the temperature was increased. (4) The $Q_10$ of male showed a high value in the lower temperature interval ($25^\\circ C \\sim 35^\\circ C$), but the female showed a high value in the higher temperature interval ($30^\\circ C \\sim 40^\\circ C$). The mean $Q_10$ was 2.12. (5) The respiratory rate was decreased as the body weight was increased in the above fresh weight of 10mg and dry weight 5 mg. (6) The upper temperature threshold for respiration was $48.31^\\circ C$ and the lower temperature threshold was $17.68^\\circ C$. (7) The ceasing time of breathing at the other three temperature groups except $30^\\circ C$ was infered to be about 110 minutes after the start of experiment.

Effects of Low-Temperature Storage of Brown Rice on Rice and Cooked Rice Quality (현미 저온저장이 쌀과 밥의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the changes of brown rice, and cooking properties after milling of brown rice according to storage temperature and varieties. Brown rices were stored at $15^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$ for 10 weeks. Tz values of brown rice stored at $35^{\circ}C$ were higher in Hwaseongbyeo, Koshihikari, Hitomebore, than the other varieties. The increasing rate of hardness of cooked rice in Odaebyeo, Junghwabyeo, Sangmibyeo stored at $35^{\circ}C$ were lower than those of other varieties. In stored brown rice at $15^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$, correlations between pH of brown rice and fat acidity, hardness, b value of cooked milled rice and head rice rate of milled rice were significant $0.743^{**}$, $0.539^*$, $-0.693^{**}$, 0.250, respectively. At $15^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$, correlations between L value and b value of cooked milled rice, head rice rate of milled rice were significant $-0.772^{**}$, $0.638^*$, and those between fat acidity of brown rice and consistency of milled rice were $0.604^*$. In brown rice stored at $15^{\circ}C$, It was higher quality of milled rice and cooked rice than those at $35^{\circ}C$ that increased head rice rates of milled rice and glossy value of cooked milled rice but lower color b value and hardness of cooked rice.

  • 본 논문에서는 $As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ (300nm)박막과 $As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ (300nm)/Ag(20nm)박막에 홀로그래피 격자를 형성시킨 후 Tg 온도$(240^{\circ}C)$를 기준으로 하여 유리질 천이온도(Tg) 온도 이하 $(190^{\circ}C)$와 이상$(270^{\circ}C)$에서 열처리 시킨 후의 회절효율 변화를 알아보았다. $As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ (300nm) 박막의 경우 $190^{\circ}C$ : 50%, $240^{\circ}C$ : 약80%, $270^{\circ}C$ : 약 98%의 회절효율 감소가 일어났으며 $As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$(300nm)/Ag(20nm)박막에서는 Tg 온도 이하 즉 $190^{\circ}C$, $240^{\circ}C$ 에서는 회절효율의 변화가 없었으나 Tg온도 이상인 $270^{\circ}C$에서는 약 1.5배 증가한 회절효율을 나타내었다.
