Qualitative Research to Understand Environmental Factors of Customer, Foodservice Management, and Competitor and Factors that Improve Customer Quality of Life (질적 연구를 활용한 위탁급식 고객, 급식관리자 및 경쟁자 환경요인과 삶의 질 개선요인 도출)

  • The objective of the current study was to analyze the major factors affecting quality of life improvement for contract foodservice customers by identifying the contract foodservice environment consisting of the customer, foodservice management, and competitor. Qualitative research method was performed on foodservice customers and foodservice management using in-depth interviews. First, the customer environment was classified into three categories, including convenience of location, foodservice management environment into six categories, including comfort level of dining facility, and competitor environment into three categories, including service competition between foodservice providers. Second, quality of life was defined as the level of contentment felt by both the customer and foodservice management consuming the food provided. Third, both the customer and foodservice management perceived that the management environment of contract foodservice had a "medium" effect on quality of customer life. The findings of this study could be applicable for development of a contract foodservice business strategy through objective comparative analysis of the customer, foodservice management, and competitor environments.

Effects of healthcare staffs' perceived service quality on service perception of patients and guardians (의료진의 인지된 서비스품질이 환자와 보호자의 서비스 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we examined the effects of healthcare staffs' perceived service quality(E-PSQ) on patients' perceived service quality(P-PSQ) leading to patients' satisfaction(P-CS) and the effects on guardians' perceived service quality(G-PSQ) also leading to guardians' satisfaction(G-CS). To investigate the causalities of the factors, we collected national wide samples of 144 hospitals, 721 healthcare staffs, 1456 patients, and 1455 guardians of the patients. Followed were contributions of this study. First, healthcare staffs and patients were commonly related by service quality, which meant the increase of healthcare staffs' perceived service quality led to increase of patients' perceived service quality. Second, healthcare staffs and guardians of patients were also related by perceived service quality. Third, patients' perceived service quality would lead to service satisfaction of patients, Fourth, guardians' perceived service quality would also lead to service satisfaction of guardians. The findings implied service managers of hospital settings should pay attention to healthcare staffs' perception of service quality as well as those of patients and guardians. With such strategy, hospitals could survive the drastically changing environments of current healthcare service area.

Such effects would be paid off in the right way only when management of the firms perform marketing activities focusing on long term effectiveness, which would drive company profits up and keep them for long. Also the internet connected around the world completely diminished the limit of time and distance and company have enveloped keen competition out of each nation and continent in the world market. To fulfill these demands of customer, they need a concept of eCRM(Web based Customer Relationship Management), and go from selling products and services, or gathering customer requests, up to the phase of solving customer's problem by real time or Previous action. With the help of Internet, the frequency and speed of the problem solving has improved greatly.

  • Recently, as business problems become more complicated and require more precise quantitative results, large-scale model management systems are increasingly in demand for supporting the decision-making activities. In addition, as distributed computing over networks gains popularity, departmental computing systems are gradually adopted in an organization to facilitate collaboration of geographically dispersed multiple departments. In departmental collaborative model management systems, multiple departments share common models but approach them with different user-views depending on their departmental needs. Moreover, the shared models become evolved as their structures and the corresponding data sets change due to the dynamic nature of the operating environment and the inherent uncertainty associated with the problems. In such capacity, providing the multiple departmental users with synchronized and consistent views of the models is important to improve the overall productivity. In this paper, we propose a collaborative model management framework for coordinating model change and automatic user-view update in a departmental computing environment. To do so, we describes changes in the model and their effects occurred in departmental model management environments and identifies the constructs and processes for maintaining the consistency between a shared model and its departmental user-views. Especially, in this framework, generic model concept was adopted for accommodating diverse mathematical models in a uniform way in a modelbase and object-oriented database management systems(ODBMS) for combining the model management constructs and automatic user-view update mechanisms in a single formalism. A prototype object-oriented modeling environment was developed using an ODBMS called ObjectStore and $C^{++}$ programming language on Windows NT.

  • With the rapid growth of WWW, the existing systems are integrated into web and various web-based systems are developed. Unlike the general applications, web aplications are developed by combining the various technologies and have their own complexities. So, we have much difficulties in the development and maintenance of web applications. To accommodate to the rapidly changing business environments and user requirements, the continuos evolution is required. In this paper, we present a method for supporting the effective development and maintenance of web applications. Our method involves the extraction of web application's structure information and analyzes web log ales containing the useful information about web site. We also describe a web testing method using the attracted information and our system developed for extracting hyperlink information and analyzing web log.

  • This study was performed to provide medical service providers with useful information for their market competitiveness and decision making. It is regarding positioning map and repositioning map strategy to enforce market competitiveness through bench marking of a specific hospital which has been relatively underestimated in the market. With AHP and biplot analyses for this study, we could identify priority of properties that medical service consumers consider when they choose a university hospital and market competitiveness of alternative university hospitals. It is expected that the study of repositioning strategy to Strengthening Market Competitiveness will provide efficient problem solving method to allocation restricted resources by repositioning the specific university hospital through benchmarking with evaluation factors of the most market competitiveness university hospital. When Inje University Paik Hospital was benchmarked and repositioned, the share of Paik hospital increased and there was only 3.1% difference from Dongah Dong-A University Hospital, which occupied the first place in market competitiveness. Such the results of this study may suggestion management strategies to provide efficient problem solving methods when companies responding to rapidly changing management environments allocation restricted resources.

  • Sociological, technical, and organizational changes have affected the culture of business in many ways. These changes are now encouraging new concepts in the workplace environment such as emotional approaches for a more creative and humanistic workplace let alone enhancing image of the company. The aim of this study is to understand current situations of common office areas and serve as a stepping stone for designing more creative and stimulating work environments. The study first examines concepts of new office designs in our modem society, then defines categories such as territorial fuzziness, eco-friendly, fun and play. Secondly, by using content analysis as research tool the researchers have investigated how the conceptual categories and detailed design presentation methods are shown in workplace designs in Korea. Scope of study is limited to 39 office design projects from 2002-2008 presented in the Korean monthly magazine 'Interiors'. As results. territorial fuzziness was found to be most popular method while play the least. For application wise, meeting rooms, rest area and hallways were places where these concepts appear the most. Even though, these new approaches in office designs can be found in our domestic offices, still more experimental and active approach seems to be needed.

  • Recently junior colleges in Korea have been working to meet changes in industrial and educational surroundings by establishing new departments, integrating and abolishing existing ones, or adjusting departmental quotas. These endeavors need to be based on an analysis of industrial policies, both national and international, and of the industrial trend of the region in which the particular college is located. They also need to take into consideration change in educational policies and the direction of the college's specialization. This study aims to provide some foundation materials for these endeavors. As a result, it has considered changes in industrial and educational surroundings and analyzed the whole spectrum of departments existing at Korean junior colleges, with a focus on business-related ones. In the course it has taken a look at the division system, presently a hot issue regarding the restructuring of the colleges. To summarize, each college offers departments, having taken into consideration its regional, industrial, and educational environments. The result of this study may be utilized by colleges when they establish new departments, integrate and abolish existing ones, and adjust departmental quotas. When they utilize the result, the colleges are advised to consider changes in the structure of industries and manpower, those in educational policies, and the direction of their specialization.

  • Current Internet services do not consider the service level interoperability because each service is developed with its own interface, which is not compatible with other services. This means that characteristics of Internet services are autonomous and heterogeneous. Moreover each service has its own access method, data representation, and data structure. This will make it difficult for NGN services to be converged. For the convergence scenarios of NGN services, interoperability among different applications shall be supported in service layers in various network environments. In order to realize this, integration function in applications is necessary. And, it is also required that NGN services shall consider to adopt the conventional E-business framework such as ebXML in order to create value added services.

  • Cloud computing is a new paradigm that adopts a pay-as-you-go business model. So, clients can ues the various resources, although they have not own the resources. Already, three big players of IT industry, namely Amazon, Google and Microsoft, develop the many applications for cloud computing. In this paper, we describe the data consistency requirements for cloud computing. Data characteristics of cloud computing is replicated, distributed and large-scaled. And consistency and availability of data cannot be satisfied simultaneously. In this paper, we categorized the applications of cloud computing, and describe requirements of consistency criteria for applications. With this result, we can make the base of consistency criteria that can be adapted for cloud computing, in the near future.
