  • This paper considers the problem of selecting the most profitable process mean for production processes where measurement errors exist in inspection systems. For such situations, a sequential inspection procedure is proposed to reduce measurement errors. The decision to accept, reject, or take an additional inspection of an item is made at every measurement point until the number of repeated measurements reaches its upper bound. An expected profit model is constructed and the optimal process mean, the cut-off values, and the upper bound of the number of repeated measurements are obtained when accepted(rejected) items are sold at regular(reduced) price. A numerical study is performed to investigate the performance of the proposed procedure.

  • Players of construction projects proceed with each work process by information gathering, modification and communication. Due to the complex and long-span lifecycle projects increased, it became more important to grasp this mechanism for the successful project performance in construction project. Hence, most project information management systems or knowledge management systems equip information retrieval system. There are two logic to infer the meaning of retrieval target; inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning. The former is based on metadata explaining the target and the later is based on relation between data. To infer the information flow, it is necessary to define the correlation between players and work processes. However, most established information retrieval systems are based on index search system and it is not focused on correlation between data but data itself. Thus, this research aims to research on process of information flow retrieval system for large-scale construction projects.

  • Recently, research on social entrepreneurship, which simultaneously pursues social value creation and economic sustainability has increased rapidly. Researchers conducted several empirical studies, noting that social entrepreneurship is a major factor in improving the performance of social enterprises. However, most previous studies usually have limitations in measuring the performance of social enterprises based on the subjective perception of entrepreneurs, which implies the limitations of the common method bias. In addition, there is a lack of empirical evidence that can explain the specific process in which the personal characteristic of an entrepreneur, social entrepreneurship, affects the achievement of dual goals. Therefore, this study empirically investigates the effect of social entrepreneurship on performance increasing the objectivity of performance measurement and including blended value orientation(BVO), a characteristic of viewing social and economic performance as a single thing. The purpose of the study is to verify the effect of social entrepreneurship and BVO on the social and economic performance of social enterprises. We conducted regression analysis using the results of the perception survey of social enterprises in South Korea and objective performance data. As a result, risk-taking, a sub-factor of social entrepreneurship, had a positive effect on economic and social performance at a significant level. In addition, it was confirmed that social entrepreneurship improves BVO, and it affects social performance. Therefore, this study found that social entrepreneurship and BVO have a discriminatory effect on economic and social performance, respectively. This study is meaningful in that it attempted to overcome the common method bias as measuring subjectivity performance.

Complex inter-industry channels with many intermediaries in fashion industry provoked many problems regarding recognizing customer's need, delivering time, flexibility, and inventory control. Therefore, the purposes of this study were to investigate the differences between apparel manufacturing and distribution process in SCM success factors and performances, and to investigate how SCM success factors affect on performances. Questionnaire was developed and distributed to apparel industry. The returned 116 questionnaires were analyzed by Cronbach's alpha for internal validity, factor analysis, t-test, and regression analysis with SPSS14.0. The results of this study were as follows: There was significant difference of SCM success factors between apparel manufacturing and distribution regarding process standardization and integration. There were significant differences of SCM performances such as reaction for customer, flexible management, cost minimization, and maximized asset utilization which distribution was higher than apparel manufacturing process. In apparel manufacturing, SC strategic relation, and integrative management influenced upon reaction for customer of SCM performances. SC integrative management influenced upon cost minimization. SC integrative management influenced upon maximized asset utilization. In distribution, SC strategic relation, and activated support for SCM influenced upon reaction for customer of SCM performances. SCM specialization, credible relationship among supply chains, activated support for SCM, and SC integrative management influenced upon cost minimization. SCM specialization, credible relationship among supply chains, and SC integrative management influenced upon maximized asset utilization.

Several public organizations in Korea are developing a "standardized evaluation protocol" based on qualitative method. But the standard evaluation protocol does not provide suitable guidelines on how to construct and evaluate the key index of IT service business. The main objective of this study is in the development of a systematic approach for the evaluation of IT service business competitiveness by emphasizing the qualitative and quantitative index to be evaluated in the framework. Application of the developed framework and guideline format showed that the used of the framework in this study provided relatively more efficient evaluation results in IT service industry.

  • For the visualization of outcome is relatively limited in informatization filed especially, systematic and quantifiable performance management of IT projects and policies is needed. Thus, the government developed its informatization evaluation system and has reinforced it. And Ministry of National Defense (MND) continues to strive for the settlement of the informatization performance evaluation system as well. According to Defense Informatization Law which was legislated in 2011, informatization policies should be assessed annually through informatization policy evaluation system in terms of their enforcement and outcome. However, informatization policy evaluation has not carried out since its pilot enforcement just after the legislation of the law. Hence, we conducted informatization policy evaluation aimed at performance investigation of 31 policies in '14~'18 Defense Informatization Master Plan. We sophisticated the current informatization policy system and we provide guidelines and tools to support the development of performance goal and indicators for each of the policies. Then, the policies were assessed by the evaluation committee we organized for our study, and we analyzed the problems we tackled in the whole process of evaluation and provided proposals for effectiveness enhancement of defense informatization evaluation system. The proposals will be meaningful for performance management in defense informatization sector and in public informatization sector as well.

  • Objectives : This study applied the research model of Bontis (1998), which has been used to investigate everything from business corporations to hospitals in Korea, examined its generalizability and attempted to verify which factors of the intellectual capital affects organizational performance, represented by indicators for the clinical and financial performance of hospitals. Methods : Primary data for the study were collected from 91 general hospitals through self-administered questionnaires, and secondary data on clinical and financial performance of hospitals were collected form existing statistics. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS 11.5 (ver.) and AMOS 18.0 (ver.). Results : It was found that only human capital and customer capital had indirect effects on hospital performance. It was also revealed that structural capital had a direct effect on clinical performance, and an indirect effect on financial performance. Conclusions : This result means that there is a need to individually consider both the clinical performance and financial performance when measuring the organizational performance of a hospital, and it also shows that positive improvement in the clinical performance can contribute to the improvement of the financial performance through this process.

  • As many organizations have adopted and implemented ERP systems, concerns about ERP performance also have increased. Former researches studied the ERP implementation of general large or medium size enterprises but there are not enough studies on ERP systems of a specific industry domain. In this paper, we introduce a case study on ERP adoption methodology of global leading company 'D' in shipbuilding and marine engineering industry. We examined ERP implementation background, method and scope and evaluated ERP performance in perspective of both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative research usually examines ERP performance based on financial statements and qualitative study typically examines organization change or improvement. As a result, ERP implementation in shipbuilding and marine industry can improve quantitative aspects such as cost, human resource and organization performance. As qualitative analysis, business process and tools can be unified and management transparency can be improved by ERP implementation. The result of this paper will be useful guideline for organizations which are considering ERP systems.
