An Exploratory Study on the Slow Adoption of Vendor managed Inventory in Manufacturing Firms (제조업체의 VMI 시스템 도입 부담요인에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • Vendor Managed Inventory(VMI) is a distribution channel system where the inventory at the retailer is monitored and managed by the manufacturer or vendor. By pushing the decision making responsibility further up the supply chain and centralizing the replenishment decision, the vendor can help the entire supply chain be more competitive. The purpose of this research is to explore the factors influencing the adoption of VMI by Korean manufacturers. This research proposes the IT readiness, operating cost, and information sharing as antecedents of burden for VMI, and collected the survey responses from the small-to-medium manufacturers. The statistical results indicate that only the operating cost has a significant impact on the adoption of VMI. However it has also been found that the IT readiness and information sharing have a significant effect on the operating cost. Thus indirectly influence the adoption of VMI. As a conclusion, the academic and practical implications of these findings are discussed.

  • In the era of the Nagoya Protocol, the way researchers have perceived genetic resources needs to change - genetic resources are no longer a common heritage of mankind. Many countries have recently amended their legal systems and are ready to adopt new legal procedures for access and benefit-sharing (ABS) of genetic resources to implement the Nagoya Protocol, claiming their sovereign rights over these resources for research use. Although both Korean government and academics have been striving to respond to the Nagoya Protocol, the understanding of ABS among researchers and the governmental guidelines for the use of genetic resources are not satisfactory yet. Researchers may perceive the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol as another burden for their research. However, it is evident that resource-rich countries are more likely to protect their genetic resources than other countries, and this tendency is expected to last long. Therefore, Korean researchers need to be prepared to minimize any damage that might be caused by ABS. This paper aims to raise awareness of ABS among Korean researchers by reviewing the key contents and overall structure of the Nagoya Protocol. It also identifies ABS procedures and presents specific measures for researchers to respond to the resulting changes in their research environments. Accordingly, this paper will serve as a guide for researchers to conduct research and development in accordance with the Nagoya Protocol.

  • Purpose: This study was to explore health experiences of the low-income elderly living alone reflected in Newman's Health as expanding consciousness theory. Method: The researcher used Newman's praxis methodology because it is good for showing the process of interaction between the researcher and the low-income elderly living alone. Results: The significant characteristics of early health experience during a participant's lifetime were demonstrated that blamed themselves, being burden of themselves hopeless of their lives. However, after a turning point in health experience. The health experience of most of the participants evolved as expanding consciousness. Conclusion: This study has provided support for Newman's theory of health. Most of the participants recognized meanings in their patterns and authentic caring relationships with the nurse as researcher, pattern recognition as a nursing practice was a meaningful transforming process in the participant-nurse partnership. This participatory approach expands the scope of sharing health experience with the elderly living alone and with caring community people.

This results in reducing the burden for a high-speed of the gate-amp interface circuit. and the linearity of optocoupler is used to protect the intanteneous peak current for the stable operation In this paper, series resistor is used to equal the current sharing of each switching device and a linear gate-amp is proposed to protect the intanteneous peak current which occurs in transient state.

  • In recent years, NASA, FAA and the aerospace industry, through MIL-HDBK-17 and the NASA-conceived AGATE(Advanced General Aviation Transport Experiments) program, have worked together to reduce the qualification burden imposed on individual aircraft manufacturers. AGATE is one of the most successful public/private cost-haring partnerships ever conceived, bringing together academia, the FAA, other government agencies and industry to develop affordable new technologies and accompanying industry standards and certification methods. In 2005, NASA established NCAMP(National Center for Advanced Materials Performance) with the purpose of refining and enhancing the AGATE process to a self-sustaining level to serve the entire aerospace industry in partnership with CMH-17, FAA, and SAE. In this paper, I will introduce briefly NCAMP process and explain its organization structure and core NCAMP documents. This paper can provide some help in establishing our certification system for composite materials where the NCAMP process is expected to be the most good model.

  • The switched reluctance motor(SRM) has considerable potential for industrial applications because of its high result lily as a result of the absence of rotor windings. In some applications with SRM, paralleling strategy is often used for cost saving, increasing of current capacity and system reliability. A SRM inverter has very low ,switching frequency. This results in reducing the burden for a high-speed of the gate-amp interface circuit. and the linearity of optocoupler is used to protect the instantaneous peak current for the stable operation. In this paper, series resistor is used to equal the current sharing of each switching device and a linear gate-amp is proposed to protect the instantaneous peak current which occurs in transient state. The proposed paralleling strategy is verified by experimental results.

  • This study investigated and analyzed overseas construction supervision systems to propose improvements for domestic supervision practices. The findings indicate a need for strengthening the role and responsibility of the ordering organization, sharing the workload and reducing the burden on supervisors, establishing a supervision work evaluation system. By implementing these recommendations, it is anticipated that the quality and effectiveness of construction supervision can be significantly enhanced.

Understanding the Access and Benefit-Sharing of Genetic Resources for Environmental Ecology Researchers (나고야의정서 이행에 따른 ABS 체계의 이해와 환경생태분야 연구자의 대응방안)

  • The enforcement of the Nagoya Protocol, which regulates the acquisition and use of genetic sources, an essential material for biotechnology R&D, has imposed a burden for additional documentation works to researchers. In the past, countries regarded genetic resources as a common human heritage and thus allowed researchers to use them freely. However, they can no longer afford the luxury of such freedom now since many countries are introducing new laws and regulations on the acquisition and use of the resources as the Nagoya Protocol recognizes the exclusive ownership of genetic resources. Therefore, Korea, which is highly dependent on foreign genetic resources, needs a more systematic response. This paper aims to review the key contents of the Nagoya Protocol to raise awareness among domestic and foreign genetic resource users, including researchers of environment and ecology and present the overall structure, and flow of acquisition, access, and benefit sharing (ABS) for the use of foreign genetic resources to help them respond appropriately to the new landscape. The researchers' efforts and support at the national level are necessary at the same time to appropriately respond to the Nagoya Protocol. First, the researchers must understand the overall framework and the specific response in each stage under the Nagoya Protocol scheme. It is necessary to respond to the ABS procedure of the resource provider country from accessing genetic resources to sharing benefits resulting from it. In that regard, the Nagoya Protocol has imposed more restrictions on research activities and raised the burden outside of research. The current trend of recognizing the country's sovereign rights over genetic resources is likely to continue and widespread worldwide as resource-rich countries are expected to continue protecting their resources. Therefore, our study will help environmental ecology researchers understand ABS and conduct research under the Nagoya Protocol and legal obligations of resource provider countries step by step, from access to benefit sharing.

Analysis of Effect of the Ship's Route Exchange through the Ship Handling Simulation (선박조종 시뮬레이션을 통한 선박 경로 교환의 효과 분석)

  • To prepare the integrated safety management system 'e-navigation', research is being conducted on the route exchange for sharing intended routes between ship and ship, and between ship and land. But they don't have enough specific grounds for the effects of route exchange and the necessity of its introduction and focus on technical aspects like the implementation of route exchange. This study tried to quantitatively analyze the effects of route exchange on sailing safety with the use of ship handling simulation, integrate simulation performers' subjective evaluations, and investigate the effects of route exchange. The ship-to-ship route exchange resulted in the initial collision avoidance action time was 3.43 minutes faster, the collision avoidance direction change rate was 60 %, the proximity to target A was 31 %, and Mean Rudder Angle Index decreased by 57 %. In addition, 95 % of the survey respondents had an effect on the decision making of collision avoidance, 85 % had a positive impact on safety navigation, 90 % had an accident prevention effect, 70 % reduced the psychological burden of officers, and 70 % should be introduced in practice.

  • In this paper, we investigate the power allocation for cognitive relay networks. Cognitive relay networks offer not only increasing spectral efficiency by spectrum sharing but also extending the coverage through the use of relays. For spectrum sharing, conventional works have assumed that secondary users know perfect channel information between the secondary and primary users. However, this channel information may be outdated at the secondary user because of the time-varying properties or feedback latency from the primary user. This causes the violation for interference constraint, and the secondary user cannot share the spectrum of the primary after all. To overcome this problem, we propose the power allocation scheme for the secondary user under the allowable primary user's outage probability constraint. Since the proposed power allocation scheme does not use the instantaneous channel information, the secondary users have lower feedback burden. In addition, the proposed scheme is also robust to the outdated channel environment.
