  • This study analyzes about poclain bucket through fatigue durability analysis. Maximum equivalent stress and total deformation are shown at the lower of bucket and edge part respectively. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of -10000Pa to 5000MPa and the amplitude stress of 0 to 6000MPa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3%. This stress state can be shown with 5 or 6 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. The structural result of this study can be effectively utilized with the design of poclain bucket by investigating prevention and durability against fatigue damage.

  • In this study, the durability due to the fork shape of excavator bucket is investigated. The analysis is carried out by modelling the fork shape used in general. As the analysis condition, the pin is constrained as fixed support at the bucket and the load of 12000N is applied at the fork. As the study result, the maximum equivalent stresses at models 1 and 2 are shown as 56.895MPa and 54.722MPa respectively. Model 1 is shown to have the most deformation of 5.6686 mm among four models. Model 3 has the least deformation among four models and the maximum deformation of model 3 is shown as 4.948mm. The fatigue analyses are also carried out with three models. Each model shows the same fatigue lives under the identical fatigue loads. The damage part at each model is shown at the bucket pork or the pin connected with bucket. As this study result, the data is thought to contribute to the safety design at excavator bucket.

  • Some of gas turbine model of 7F-Class has constructed and is operating with units domestically. Non-destructive testing (NDT) is one of the methods being used to inspect damage $1^{st}$ stage bucket and review damage trends. We also analyze damage configuration and microstructure according to material and compare with pape of electric power research institute (EPRI). The damaged mode could be determined by leveraging failure analysis. Especially, configuration uprate of bucket is not only to prevent damage during operation but also avoid domestic manufacturing by the competitors. Modifications were mainly concentrated on surfaces such as cooling hole and bucket tips. Analyzing of bucket damage, the earlier model of 7F-Class used with one cycle with equivalent operation hour (EOH), has various cracking of the bucket surface. Bucket damage of new model is centered on tip area (54%) as analyzed by EPRI research. We conclude that improving bucket configuration would increase repair rate on the bucket tip.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of CAD (Computer Aided Design) based alpine mono-ski bucket design on disabled ski athletes' kinematic characteristics. Two national team ski athletes with LW11 disabilities (Locomotion Winter Classification) category for sit ski participated in both pre and post experiment. Both of the subjects performed 3 trials of carved turn on a ski slope under two conditions. Where, subject "A" performed pre experiment with personal bucket and post experiment with the newly developed CAD based bucket whereas, Subject "B" as control subject performed both pre and post experiment with his personal bucket. For the experiment, 24 Infrared cameras were positioned on the ski slope which covered the path of the ski turn. Also, motion capture suit with reflective markers were worn by both subjects. In the result, decrement in medial/lateral displacement of COM, anterior/posterior displacement of COM, flexion/extension angle of trunk as well as velocity losing rate of COM was observed in subject "A" when using the newly developed CAD based bucket. In contrast, no larger effect on performance was observed when using personal buckets. In conclusion, the findings obtained from the study indicated effectiveness of newly developed CAD based bucket by reducing excessive movement of hip and trunk which is an important factor to perform an effective turn.

  • Hydraulic excavator in digging at the construction machinery is a widely used mechanical device. Excavator attachments are taken with structural load and fatigue during digging under applied reaction. Fatigue analysis is done at joint pin between bucket and arm of front attachment at excavator under the force of hydraulic cylinder in operation. It is analyzed how load can be supported at the lower driving body applied on the bucket. In this study, the deformation of arm and the fatigue result are examined when reaction force is applied on the attachment of excavator.

  • This paper addresses a scheduling scheme for Flexible Flow Shop(FFS) in the case that a factory is a sub-plant of an electronic device manufacturing plant. Under this environment, job orders for the sub-plants in the production route are generated together with job processing time bucket when the customer places orders for final product. The processing time bucket for each job is a duration from possible release date to permissible due date. A sub-plant modeled FFS should schedule these jobs orders within time bucket. Viewing a Printed Circuit Board(PCB) assembly line as a FFS, the developed scheme schedules an incoming order along with the orders already placed on the scheduled. The scheme consists of the four steps, 1)assigning operation release date and due date to each work cells in the FFS, 2)job grouping, 3)dispatching and 4)machine allocation. Since the FFS scheduling problem is NP-complete, the logics used are heuristic. Using a real case, we tested the scheme and compared it with the John's algorithm and other dispatching rules.

  • Generally, a working excavator has only one directional bucket tilting angle, which is up-forward. However, side direction rotation of the bucket would allow variety of working output. We designed a hydraulic rotary actuator comprising a double rod hydraulic cylinder with a rack-pinion gear set for use in excavator bucket with side tilting mechanism, thus converting the linear to angular motion. The proposed side tilting rotary actuator was designed with parts suitable for medium size of heavy duty excavator. These mechanical parts were inexpensive to purchase and the manufacturing cost was reasonable. The proposed mechanism is potentially useful for excavator with variety of working output.

  • This study consist of two parts. One is development of a self-propelling vinyl remover which was already reported at the previous paper. This is the second part of the study. For the study, an attached vinyl remover was developed. It was consisted of connecting tractor to bucket, removing bucket from tractor, and the process was the tractor's assistance hydraulics. In the case of an attached vinyl remover, the vinyl was twisted 0.5times per 30~85cm length. The bobbin's diameter was 190mm and it's stable travelling speed was 1m/s. The revolution of the remover wheel was 90rpm to maintain the wheel's linear velocity. As seen at performance test at the field which had 950mm ridge intervals and 10 a area, the average working speed was 1m/s and the turning time was 20seconds. Therefore, the working performance was 24.5min/10a. The efficiency of used vinyl remover was 97% and working conditions were good.

  • This paper is intended to propose what manufacturing configuration (manufacturing planning and shop floor control) is suitable for the tire industry. Basically tire-manufacturing process is mixed-products, parallel-disconnected-flow-shop. Both throughput time and cycle tine are very short, the variety of tires is very high, the setup time is long, shop floor data reporting requirements is high, and there are many equipments and people working. And with no exception, tire industry also now confronts increasing requirements of delivery conformance with the above peculiar characteristics of tire manufacturing and changing market environments, this paper suggests, weekly master scheduling with no MRP is desirable and traditional kanban is right selection for shop floor control/scheduling. This paper describes why this configuration should be, using the manufacturing engineering principles and some new insights like four primitives of parallel flow shop. Generally known that shop with high parallel-product-mix and long setup time isn't good candidate for kanban. The four primitives of parallel flow shop explain why kanban is also useful scheduling technique in that environment.
