답리작 호맥재배시 가축분시용이 후작 벼의 생육 및 수량과 미질에 미치는 영향 (Growth , Yield and Quality of Rice Cultivated on paddy Soils as After Crop of Fodder Rye under Heavy Application of Animal Manures)

  • Fodder rye(cv. Coolgrazer) was cultivated on paddy soils under different application rates of animal manures (CM=cow manures mixed with sawdust, SM=swine manure mixed with sawdust) during 1994-1995. Rice crop (CV. Geumo) was transplanted in the same plots after fodder rye. The effects of cattle manure application on the yield performance of rye and their influence to growth, yields and quality of rice were evaluated. Fodder rye produced larger plant growth and higher silage yield in the cattle manure application than in the chemical feltilizer (CF). Dry matter yields of rye silage were 3.08 ton(CF), 4.23 ton(CM) and 6.03 ton/ha(SM), respedively. Under heavy application of cattle manures plant height, number of tillers and grains per panicle were increased, but 1,000 grains weight and total yields of rice were decreased. Yields of brown rice were 5.20 ton(CF), 5.15 ton (CM) and 4.95 ton/ha(SM), respectively. Higher concentration of amylose was found in the heavy application of cattle manures. Amylose contents of rice were 16.8%(CF), 19.1%(CM) and 19.4%(SM).

간척지에서 이앙기 및 수확시기가 쌀의 품질 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Transplant and Harvest Time on Grain Quality of Rice in Reclaimed Paddy Field)

  • 이앙기 및 수확시기에 따른 쌀 품질을 식미 관점에서 검토하여 고품질 쌀 생산을 위한 기초 자료를 얻고자 2001년 서진벼, 일품벼, 추청벼를 공시하여 인천광역시 서구 경서동에 위치한 농업기반공사 김포간척지에서 실험한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 현미수량은 이앙시기간 고도로 유의한 차이가 있어서 3품종 모두 조기, 보통기재배가 만기재배보다 수량이 유의하게 많았다. 2. 백미의 단백질 함량은 이앙기와 수확시기간 고도의 상호작용이 있어서 발의 단백질 함량이 저하되는 수확시기는 이앙기에 따라 달랐다. 3. 이앙기에 따른 식미값은 서진벼와 일품벼는 조기와 만기재배에서 유의하게 높으나 추청벼는 만기재배에서도 떨어지지 않는 경향이었다. 4. 백미의 식미치는 등숙적산기온과 고도로 유의한 부의 상관(-0.43$^{**}$ )이 있어서 적산기온이 높을수록 식미치가 저하하였다. 5. 수량과 품질을 동시에 고려할때 조기 또는 보통기재배를 하되 수확시기는 출수후 40일로 다소 빠르게 하는 것이 유리한 것으로 판단되었다.

벼멸구 저항성 Bph18 유전자가 벼의 수량구성요소에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Brown Planthopper Resistance Gene, Bph18 to Yield Components in Rice)

  • 벼멸구 저항성 Bph18 유전자를 가진 SR30071-3-7-23-6-1-1-1계통과 감수성인 '새누리'를 교배하여 육성한 약배양집단 192계통에 대해 벼멸구 저항성 유전자 Bph18이 벼의 수량구성요소에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 벼멸구 저항성 유전자 Bph18과 밀접히 연관된 7312.T4A 마커의 유전자형을 분석한 결과, 저항성 유전자형을 가진 계통은 24계통이었고 감수성 유전자형을 가진 계통은 168계통이었다. 벼멸구 저항성 유전자 Bph18은 벼의 출수일수를 짧게하고, 간장과 수장은 길게하며 등숙율은 낮게 하는 것으로 나타났으며 벼의 수수, 수당입수, 정조천립중 및 정조수량에는 영향을 미치지 않은 것으로 보여진다.

Effect of different seedling ages and transplanting times on growth and yield of Indica × Japonica rice for noodle processing

  • The effect of different seedling ages and transplanting times on the growth and yield of Indica ${\times}$ Japonica rice for noodle processing was evaluated to develop a high yielding cultivation technology for increasing the competition against the imported foreign rice. Four seedling ages (10-, 20-, 30- and 33-day old) of two Indica ${\times}$ Japonica rice cultivars (cvs. Saemimyeon and Palbangmi) and three transplanting dates (May 20, May 30 and June 9) were used in the study. Our results showed that the growth and rice yield of the two cultivars were significantly affected by the different seedling ages and transplanting times. Dry matter production at the panicle heading of the two rice cultivars were generally higher in the 30-day old seedling than the other seedling age treatments and then gradually decreased as the transplanting time was delayed from May 20 to June 9. Similar high panicle number per square meter were recorded at the 30-day old seedling between May 20-May 30 transplanting times. In contrast, other yield parameters that includes spikelet number per panicle, 1,000-brown rice weight, and ripened grain ratio (except for the June 9 transplanting time of Palbangmi) were not significantly affected. The milled rice yield of Saemimyeon was higher than that of the Palbangmi regardless of seedling ages and it was also the highest at the 30-day old seedling with four seedling ages. The milled rice yield of Saemimyeon was only slightly decreased as the transplanting time was delayed from the May 20 to June 9 but Palbangmi had a significantly lower milled rice yield at June 9 transplanting due to the low ripened grain ratio. The result indicates that the most suitable seedling age for the cultivars tested was at 30-day old seedling for noodle processing rice and recommended transplanting times were between May 20 and May 30 for the high rice yield in the Yeongnam plain area.

Application of genomics into rice breeding

  • By the progress of genome sequencing, infrastructures for marker-assisted breeding (MAB) of rice came to be established. Fine mapping and gene isolation have been conducted using the breeding materials derived from natural variations and artificial mutants. Such genetic analysis by the genome-wide dense markers provided us the knowledge about the many genes controlling important traits. We identified several genes or quantitative trait loci (QTL) for heading date, blast resistance, eating quality, high-temperature stress tolerance, and so on. NILs of each gene controlling heading date contribute to elongate the rice harvest period. Determination of precise gene location of blast resistance gene pi21, allowed us to overcome linkage drag, co-introduction of undesirable eating quality. We could also breed the first practical rice cultivar in Japan with a brown planthopper resistance gene bph11 in the genetic back-ground of an elite cultivar. Discovery of major and minor QTLs for good eating quality allowed us to fine-tune of eating quality according to the rice planting area or usage of rice grain. Many rice cultivars have bred efficiently by MAB for several traits, or by marker-assisted backcross breeding through chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) using genetically diverse accessions. We are also systematically supporting the crop breeding of other sectors by MAB or by providing resources such as CSSLs. It is possible to pyramid many genes for important traits by using MAB, but is still difficult to improve the yielding ability. We are performing a Genomic Selection (GS) for improvement of rice biomass and grain yield. We are also trying to apply the genome editing technology for high yield rice breeding.

이앙시기와 농업기후지대의 차이가 조생흑찰의 현미 품질과 수량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Different Transplanting Dates and Agroclimatic Zones on Quality of Brown Rice and Yield of a Pigmented Rice Variety 'Josaengheugchal')

  • 조생흑찰의 품질과 수량성을 높이는 방법을 찾기 위해 재배 지역과 이앙 시기를 달리하여 그에 따른 생육과 품질을 조사하여 최적의 이앙시기를 구명하고자 하였다. 1. 출수기는 동일 이앙시기에서 청원이 제천에 비해 $4{\sim}5$일 빨랐으며, 이앙시기가 첫 이앙 일을 기준으로 10일씩 늦어짐에 따라 제천은 각각 2, 5, 6일, 청원은 5, 6, 8일 각각 늦어졌다. 2. 출수기 간장은 제천 청원 모두 이앙시기가 늦어질수록 길어졌으며, 수장은 비슷하였으나 지역 간에는 제천보다 청원이 다소 길었다. 3. 수수는 제천보다 청원이 많았으며, 영화수는 5월 30일 이앙에서 두 지역 모두 많았다. 등숙 비율은 제천이 청원보다 높았고, 천립중은 청원지역이 무거웠다. 4. 수량은 제천이 이앙시기가 빠를수록 높았고, 청원은 늦어질수록 높은 경향이었다. 5. 현미수량으로 추정한 최적 이앙시기는 제천은 5월 11일 (491 kg/10a), 청주는 6월 16일(468 kg/10a)로 추정되었다. 6. 이앙시기별 현미의 색도는 제천의 경우 모든 이앙시기에서 검은색을 띠었으나, 청원의 경우 6월 10일 이앙 이후에서 검은색이 짙어졌다. 7. C3G 함량은 제천이 6월 10일 이앙 이전의 동일한 시기에서 청원보다 높았으며, 이앙 시기가 늦을수록 높았다.

미곡(米穀) 가공특성(加工特性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Studies on the Milling Characteristics of Rice)

  • 벼를 현미(玄米)와 쌀로 가공(加工)할 때 유의(留意)해야 할 가공(加工) 특성(特性)을 구명(究明)하고저 11개(個) 품종(品種)을 대상(對象)으로 하여 시험(試驗)하였던 바 그 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 제현시(製玄時) 사용(使用)되는 사목(飾目)의 크기에 따른 제현률차(製玄率差)는 현미립(玄米粒)의 넓이 및 두께와 부(負)의 상관(相關)이 있었다. 2. 현백(玄白) 과정(過程)에서 생기는 쇄미률(碎米率)은 현미(玄米) 입장(粒長)과 상관(相關)이 있었다. 3. 공시(供試) 품종중(品種中) 협형(狹形)과 장립종(長粒種)에 해당(該當)되는 것은 없었다. 4. 쌀의 백도(白度)는 동일(同一)한 수준(氷準)의 도정도(搗精度)에서 $12{\sim}32M$의 범위에 폭(幅)넓게 분포(分布)되어 있었다.

Rice cultivars adaptable for rice based cropping systems in a paddy field in the Yeongnam plain area of Korea

  • This study was conducted to investigate suitable rice cultivars for various rice based cropping systems in a paddy field in the Yeongnam plain area. Thirteen rice cultivars (5 early, 3 medium and 5 mid-late maturing cultivars) and three transplanting dates (June 5, June 25 and July 5) were evaluated in this study. The mid-late and early maturing cultivars for the July 5 and June 25 transplanting headed before August 30 which is the safe heading date in the Yeongnam plain area, ranging from Aug. 26 - 28 and Aug. 18 - 23, respectively. The safe harvest time of rice for double and triple cropping systems should be before the middle of October for the cultivation of the succeeding winter crops. The rice yield was the highest for the June 5 transplanting regardless of the rice cultivars, and it gradually decreased as the transplanting date was delayed from June 5 to July 5 due to a decrease in the spikelet numbers per panicle number and in the ripened grain rate. In contrast, the other yield parameters that include the panicle number per $m^2$, the 1,000-brown rice weight, and the ripened grain ratio were not significantly affected. The result indicates that based on the milled rice, heading time and harvest time, a medium maturing cultivar (Haiami and Samdeog) would be applicable to a winter barley/wheat, garlic/onion-summer rice double cropping, while a mid-late cultivar (Saeilmi, Saenuri and Hyunpoom) would be suitable for a spring potato/waxy corn-summer rice double cropping in the Yeongnam plain area. On the other hand, an early maturing cultivar (Unkwang, Jokwang and Haedamssal) would be preferable for a triple cropping because of the short growth period of rice.

Influence of climate conditions on yield, chemical component, color difference and starch characteristics of colored rice cultivars

  • This study was conducted to know the influence of air temperature and sunshine duration on yield, chemical component, pigment color difference and starch characteristics of two colored rice cultivars in the plain area of Yeongnam province in Korea. The $L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ value of brown rice in Hongjinju and Josaengheugchal rice cultivars was significantly different at continuous cultivated years, 2015 and 2016. The $L^*$, $b^*$ value of two colored rice was significantly increased in 2016 compared to 2015. The $a^*$ value of Josengheugchal rice cultivar was also significantly higher at 2016 than at 2015. It can be noticed the $a^*$, $b^*$, $L^*$ values in Josaengheugchal varied more than those in Hongjinju. Air temperature during ripening period in 2016 was higher than 2015, especially minimum temperature was too high to proper maturation for rice quality. In Josaengheugchal rice cultivar, sunshine duration after heading was longer in 2016 than in 2015. On the contrary, Hongjinju rice cultivar was ripened under condition of insufficient sunshine duration in 2016. The short growing duration by high temperature and long shiny duration made the lack of pigment for Josaengheugchal brown rice. In Hongjinju rice cultivar, shorten sunshine duration and higher night temperature were the source of the pigment deficiency. The grain size of rice which produced in 2016 was bigger than that of 2015 in both rice cultivars. The 1,000 grain weight of rice from 2016 was also bigger than that of 2015. Head rice ratio was high in the rice cultivars produced in 2015. Protein of milled rice in 2016 was more decreased than that of 2015 in Josaengheugchal rice cultivar, it showed reverse result in Hongjinju rice cultivar. Amylose contents of milled rice in 2016 were more decreased than that of 2015 in Hongjinju rice cultivar. Branch chain length distribution of amylopectin was shown a distinct difference between Josaengheugchal and Hongjinju rice flours by each produced year. Josaengheugchal rice cultivar produced in 2015 had a higher amount of short chains than that of 2016 rice starches. In Josaengheugchal rice cultivar, the pasting temperature and peak, trough, breakdown, final viscosity increased in rice flour which produced at 2016, whereas the setback viscosity and peak time showed lower value than those of rice from 2015. The most pasting properties (except of setback viscosity) of rice starch in Hongjinju rice cultivar grown in 2015 were higher than those of rice cultivar produced in 2016.

비료의 장기연용이 벼의 생육, 수량 및 미립발달에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Long Term Fertilizers on Growth, Yield and Grain Development of Rice)

  • 토양에 20년간 3요소+생고를 처리하였을때 토양의 화학적 성분, 공극율, 입단구조가 잘 발달되었다. 또한 이 처리에 의하여 CGR은 영화분화기때 가장 높았으나 무처리구나 3요소단용구에서는 전생육기간을 통하여 계속 증가하는 경향을 띈 반면 3요소+생고처리구에서는 영화분화기이후 계속 감소 하는 추세을 나타내고 있다. 현미수량에 있어서는 3요소+생고처리에 의하여 11%의 증가효과가 있었으며 이것은 주로 이삭의 일.이차기경의 분화수가 증가하였기 때문이었다. 또한 미립형태에 있어서도 완전미의 비율이 높았는데 이것은 등숙속도와 매우 밀접한 관계가 있어서 등숙속도가 빠를수록 심백미, 복백미 및 동할미가 많았다. 3요소 + 생고속도는 40DAH이었다.
