  • The balanced amplifier is a practical amplifier to, implement a broadband amplifier that has flat gain and good input and output VSWR. Three-stage amplifier design procedure usually divided into three partition satisfying the following requirements : low noise figure, high gain and high power output. FHX35LG HEMT device is used in the design can be obtained low noise figure at the first-stage, MGA82563 MMIC device is used in the design can be maintained high gain at the second-stage, and AHI MMIC device is used in the design can be required high power output at the third-stage. The results of three-stage balanced amplifier show that power gain is about 40㏈, noise figure is less than 1.2㏈ at operating frequency.

  • In this study, aeroacoustic characteristics of combined fan are investigated and noise was reduced by applying Serrated Trailing Edge which is known as the method to reduce fan noises. Unsteady CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis was carried out using Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM) to figure out the combined fan's aeroacoustics and experimental results was used to verify simulation results. Results show that different BPFs are generated at the each inner fan and outer fan on the different frequency while Blade Passing Frequency(BPF) of general fans is constant on the entire frequency range. Boundary vortex and vortex shedding are suppressed or dispersed by applying the Serrated Trailing Edge to the inner fan. Furthermore, broadband noise and fan's torque are reduced.

  • This paper suggests the noise reduction method of the engine cooling fan. It was estimated the fannoise contribution at the engine room and identified the noise source at the rotating fan by sound intensity method, first. And it has been developed the program for predicting the noise spectrum of axial flow fan. The radiated acoustic pressure is expressed the discrete frequency noise peaks at BPF and its harmonics and the line spectrum at the broad band by the noise generation mechanisms. In this paper it is shown that the comparison of the measuted and calculaed noise spectra of fn for the validation of the noise predictiong program. And this paper presents the characteristics of a fan noise due to modify the design parameters. Accordingly, it was obtained the design parameter values for noise reduction of fan.

  • In this paper, the main noise sources and its radiated noise levels of upwind horizontal-axis wind turbines are experimentally and theoretically investigated. Theoretical predictions for indentifying the dominant source locations are made by using the empirical noise prediction model of Brooks et al. (1989) for the airfoil self noise. Through the comparison of theoretical results with the experimental results, turbulence-boundary-layer-trailing-edge (TBL-TE) noise is revealed to be the dominant source over all frequency range and separation and stall (S-S) noise is possibly important in the relative lower frequency range compared with TBL-TE noise.

  • In this paper, a broadband RF module is designed and tested for 2.4GHz band applications. The RF module is composed of a low noise amplifier (LNA) with a three stage amplifier, a single ended gate mixer, matching circuits, a hairpin line band pass filter and a Chebyshev low pass filter to convert the radio frequency (RF) into the intermediate frequency (IF). The LNA has a high gain and stability, and the single ended gate mixer has a high conversion gain and wide dynamic range. In the analysis of the broadband RF module, the composite harmonic balance technique is used to analyze the operating characteristics of an RF module circuit. The RF module has a 55.2dB conversion gain with a 1.54dB low noise figure, $-120{\sim}-60dBm$ wide RF power dynamic range, -60dBm low harmonic spectrum and a good isolation factor among the RF, IF, and local oscillator (LO) ports.

  • Sirocco fans are widely used in HVAC and air conditioning systems, and the noise generated by these machines causes one of the most serious problems. In general, the sirocco fan noise is often dominated by tones at BPF(blade passage frequency) and broadband noise. However, only a few researches have been carried out on predicting the aeroacoustic noise because of the difficulty in obtaining detailed information about the flow field and casing effects on noise radiation. The objective of this study is to develop a prediction method for the unsteady flow field and the acoustic pressure field of a sirocco fan. We assume that the impeller rotates with a constant angular velocity and the flow field around the impeller is incompressible and inviscid. So, a discrete vortex method (DVM) is used to model the centrifugal fan and to calculate the flow field. The force of each element on the blade is calculated by the unsteady Bernoulli equation. Lowson\`s method is used to predict the acoustic source. Reasonable results are obtained not only fur the tonal noise but also far the amplitudes of the broadband noise. Acoustic pressure is proportional to (Ω)2.3, which is the similar value with the measured data.

  • The possibility of a broadband noise reduction of piezoelectric smart panels is experimentally studied. Piezoelectric smart panel is basically a plate structure on which piezoelectric patch with shunt circuits is mounted and sound absorbing material is bonded on the surface of the structure. Sound absorbing materials can absorb the sound transmitted at mid frequency region effectively while the use of piezoelectric shunt damping can reduce the transmission at resonance frequencies of the panel structure. To be able to tune the piezoelectric shunt circuit, the measured electrical impedance model is adopted. Resonant shunt circuit composed of register and inductor in stories is considered and the circuit parameters are determined based on maximizing the dissipated energy through the circuit. The transmitted noise reduction performance of smart panels is investigated using an acoustic tunnel. The tunnel is a square crosses sectional tunnel and a loud speaker is mounted at one side of the tunnel as a sound source. Panels are mounted in the middle of the tunnel and the transmitted sound pressure across the panels is measured. Noise reduction performance of a double smart panel possessing absorbing material and air gap shows a good result at mid frequency region except the first resonance frequency. By enabling the piezoelectric shunt damping, noise reduction is achieved at the resonance frequency as well. Piezoelectric smart panels incorporating passive method and piezoelectric shunt damping are a promising technology for noise reduction in a broadband frequency.

  • This paper proposes the design and measurement of a 6-18 GHz front-end receiver module that has been combined into a one- channel output from a two-channel input for electronic warfare support measures (ESM) applications. This module includes a limiter, high-pass filter (HPF), power combiner, equalizer and amplifier. This paper focuses on the design aspects of reducing the noise figure (NF) and matching the phase and amplitude. The NF, linear equalizer, power divider, and HPF were considered in the design. A broadband receiver based on a combined configuration used to obtain low NF. We verify that our receiver module improves the noise figure by as much as 0.78 dB over measured data with a maximum of 5.54 dB over a 6-18 GHz bandwidth; the difference value of phase matching is within $7^{\circ}$ between ports.
