PCBs are wide spread persistent environmental pollutants that exert a broad spectrum of toxic effects. PCBs includes 209 possible congeners differing in extent and position of chlorination of their aromatic rings. In order to understand the toxic mechanism of PCBs, we have tested the effect of PCB on the EROD activity in vivo.(omitted)

A postpartum total uterine prolapse in a 2-years old Korean black goat was presented. This paper reports the clinical management of the case. The everted uterus was carefully assessed and gross debris were gently removed and disinfected with dilute povidone iodine solution. The prolapsed uterus was replaced with epidural anesthesia and retention suture was placed on the vulva. Broad spectrum antibiotics, calcium gluconate, and supportive therapy were administered. The patient made complete recovery.

A 15-year-old boy having a small VSD was readmitted with clinical manifestations of acute endocarditis and aortic regurgitation one month after open heart surgery. In spite of vigorous treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics, high fever persisted. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated just one time among several blood cultures. Progressive pulmonary infarction due to embolization. Progressive congestive heart failure and D.I.C. caused patient`s death. Aspergillus was found in autopsy specimen.

Nutrition influences cancer incidence and offers a variety of preventive dietary factors including non-nutritive plant metabolites. To identify novel potential chemopreventive agents, we have set up cell- and enzyme-based in vitro marker systems relevant for prevention of carcinogenesis in vivo. This experimental approach led to the identification of Xanthohumol (Xn), a prenylated chalcone from hop (Humulus lupulus L.) as a most promising broad-spectrum chemopreventive agent.(omitted)

Free radicals and oxidative stress playa crucial role in the pathophysiology of a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases including congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, hypertrophy, atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease. We have demonstrated that IH 636 proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) provides excellent protection against free radicals in both in vitro and in vivo models, and exhibits significantly better efficacy as compared to vitamins C, E and $\beta$-carotene.(omitted)

We present high-resolution optical spectra of newly selected candidates of intermediate-mass black holes. The sample was selected based on the variability and spectral shape in X-ray. The spectra was taken with Magellan 6.5 m Clay Telescope and cover the rest-frame region 3500-10000A. The high spectral resolution (R~4000) of the spectrum allows us to estimate BH masses of the sources. Interestingly, the majority of the sample appears to have broad emission lines. Using this dataset, we will estimate the BH masses and Eddington ratio in order to understand their physical properties.

A $Pd(OAc)_2/(o-MeOPh)_3P$ system has been developed for the catalytic Suzuki coupling of aryl bromides with arylboronic acids. Our catalyst system covers a broad spectrum of commonly available arylboronic acids and aryl bromides to provide biaryls in very good yields. The catalyst system works very well in the synthesis of sterically hindered biaryls.

An overview of author activity in the area diffractive LCDs are given. The formation of colour spectrum DL CDs is made by switchable phase diffraction gratings created in a LC layer due to using of comb-like electrodes. The offered DLCDs functionate without polarizes, have high contrast and spectral of pure colours, broad viewing ngles. The existing production equipment can be adapted to manufacturing of DLCD without considerable alterations.
