  • This research shows that fuzzy set theory can be useful in modeling and solving flow shop scheduling problems with uncertain processing times and illustrates a method for solving job sequencing problem which the opinions of experts disagree in each processing time. In this study, FCDS (Fuzzified Campbell-Dudek-Smith) algorithm and FNEH (Fuzzified Nawaz-Enscope-Ham) algorithm are proposed to improve the fuzzified Branch & Bound algorithm that requires long run-time and computational complexities to find the optimal sequence. These proposed algorithms are also designed to treat opinions of experts. In this paper, Fuzzy processing times are expressed as triangular fuzzy numbers and comparison method use Lee-Li method and ranking method based on the dominance property. On the basis of the proposed method, an example is presented.

  • We observed the splitting of the fluxon-flow branches in the current-voltage characteristics of serially stacked intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs) formed in $Bi_2$$Sr_2$$CaCu_2$$O_{ 8+x}$ single crystals in the long-junction limit. Stacks of IJJs were sandwiched between two Au electrodes deposited on the top and the bottom of the stack using the ‘double-side cleaving technique’. In all the samples studied, the branch splitting started occurring for a dense fluxon configuration around 2 T and became more distinct in a higher magnetic field range. This observation can be explained in terms of switching between different Josephson fluxon modes in resonance with the collective plasma oscillations induced by both inductive and capacitive coupling between stacked IJJs. This is the first detailed and quantitative identification of the coherent flux-flow modes in stacked..

  • In the present study we examine physical characteristics of a thin and rigid magnetic flux tube with a steady flow inside, which is embedded vertically upward in the solar atmosphere. We found from this study that (1) The downward material flow gives rise to a dominant heating in the flux tube which works with the conductive heating in the same direction. However, the upflow flow creates a dominant cooling which works against the conductive heating, resulting in a steeper temperature gradient with a shallower transition region. (2) Since the thickness of the transition region determines the material content in the transition region, a broader transition region of the downflow tube produces a larger differential measure.

  • The blade leading edge is modified to control the secondary flow generated in the turbine cascade with fence by intensifying the suction side branch of the horseshoe vortex. The incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are numerically solved with a high Reynolds number k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence closure model for investigating the vortical flows in the turbine cascade. The computational results of total pressure loss coefficients in the wake region are first compared with experiments for validation. The structure and strength of the passage vortex near the suction surface are examined by testing various geometrical parameters of the turbine blade leading edge.

  • KOWACO - ChangWon Branch - have conducted the new study which aimed to improve flocculation performance in Mixers. The Purposes in this study were increasing flocculation efficiency by finding significant factor which was affected flow characteristics. In the result of this research we modified the error in equation of G-value and RPM which have been used till quite recently. Also we developed program auto-calculating G-value and RPM and then we had made their statistical list. We had conducted experiment with flocculation Mixer's model sized 1/10 by PIV's method. We analysed characteristic of all flow fields by changing case such as changing direction of flocculator roatation etc.

  • This paper considers a hybrid flow shop scheduling problem for the objective of minimizing the number of tardy jobs. The hybrid flow shop consists of two stages in series, each of which has multiple identical parallel machines, and the problem is to determine the allocation and sequence of jobs at each stage. A branch and bound algorithm that gives the optimal solutions is suggested that incorporates the methods to obtain the lower and upper bounds. Dominance properties are also derived to reduce the search space. To show the performance of the algorithm, computational experiments are done on randomly generated problems, and the results are reported.

  • Numerical predictions on flow phenomena in pipe network systems have been considered as playing an important role in both designing and operating various facilities of piping or duct systems, such as water supply, tunnel or mine ventilation, hydraulic systems of automobile or aircraft, and etc. Traditionally, coupling conditions between junction and connected branches are assumed to satisfy conservation law of mass and to share an equal pressure at junction node. However, the conventional methodology cannot reflect momentum interactions between pipes sufficiently. Thus, a new finite volume junction treatment is proposed both to reflect the interchanges of linear momentums between neighbor branches at junction and to include the effect of wall at junction in present work.

  • In this study debris like branch or trash are washed and flowed from land to stream by rainfall runoff at mountain or urban stream specially rainy season. These kinds of debris are accumulated at hydraulic construct on the way of flow along the stream. The shape or ratio of like these accumulated debris are various according to the location where it is accumulated and the material what it is, so that it is influenced to be varied to flow characteristics. To be simple of accumulated debris shape, it was made experiments though the variation of open ratio and the shape of accumulated debris by lab experiment using straight channel with two piers. From the result, the water level is inverse proportion to open ratio, and the water level more sensitive to the debris‘ width than length at the same area of accumulated debris.

  • A Problem of low-velocity forced convection in a channel flow with heated wall is of practical importance and widely considered in the design of devices such as heat exchangers, and electronic equipments. Therefore, there is an urgent need for improving heat transfer performance of heated wall in the channel. In the present study, an oscillating vortex generator method is proposed to enhance the heat transfer in a channel. In this method, a rectangular bars are set in the upstream of heated region of the channel. The bars are forced to oscillate normal to the inflow, and then actively and largely generates transverse vortices behind the bars. As a result, this apparatus can enhance the heat transfer rates remarkably. Because of the interaction between the flow and oscillating bars, the variations of the flow and thermal fields become time-dependent state.
