복잡 지표경계 영역에서 경계 일치 좌표계를 이용한 수치 시뮬레이션에 관한 연구 (Study on Numerical Simulation Using Body-fitted Corrdinate System for Complex Terrain)

  • The three-dimensional new corrdinate system over a single hill double hills and complex terrain with a single hill and a rectangular obstacle was generated using a body-fitted coordinate system. Control of the coordinate line distribution in the field was executed by generalizing the elliptic generating system to Poisson equation. ▽2ξ=P. The new coordinate system was well fitted to the surface boundary of single hill and double hills. But in the case of complex terrain with hill and rectangular obstacle there was smoothing tendency around the rectangular obstacle. In order to show the validity of the body-fitted coordinate system the heat diffusion equation was transformed and the temperature distribution was calculated over the various terrain. The results showed the temperature distribution was very symmetrical and stable around hills and obstacle. As a result the couple of a body-fitted coordinate system and the heat diffusion equation were executed successfully. Wind field over complex terrain with hill and rectangular obstacle which represent urban area was simulated stably in body-fitted coordinate system. The qualitative result show the enhancement of wind speed at the upwind direction of a hill and a rectangular obstacle and the recirculation zone at the downwind direction.

Modified Boundary-Fitted Coordinate System Method for HDD Slider Analysis

  • The hard disk drive performance depends strongly on air bearing characterisitcs of the head slider. The objective of the slider design is to provide accurate positioning of the magnetic read/write element at the very small height above the disk. Application of the numerical methods is required due to complexity of the air bearing surface of the slider. The Boundary-Fitted Coordinate System Divergence Formulation method can be used for calculation of pressure distribution in the case of steep film thickness gradients. In the present work, the interpolating functions used in the expression for the Couette flow are modified in order to improve the solution characteristics in the extremely high compressibility number region. The advantages of the modified method are demonstrated on example of the flat skewed slider. Finally, the modi.ed method is applied to analysis of the static characteristics of the femto-slider. The analysis results indicate the effect of the silder's air bearing surface crown on the flying height and the pitching angle in steady state position.

  • The present work is an attempt to calculate the steady state pressure and perturbed pressure of herringbone grooved journal bearings. A generalized coordinate system is introduced to handle the complex bearing geometry. The coordinates are fitted to the groove boundary and the Reynold's equation is transformed to be fitted to this coordinate system using the Gauss divergence theorem. This method makes it possible to deal with an arbitrary configuration of a lubricated surface. The caharacteristics of finite herringbone groove journal bearing are well calculated using this method.

  • An expanded scheme of direct numerical solution method for solving the Reynolds' equation in the boundary fitted coordinate systems for the gas lubrication with ultra low clearance is presented. Skewed slider is calculated by this scheme and results are compared to the original direct numerical solution. The modified scheme has advantages in stability in high compressibility number region. At the lower A region the difference in results of original and modified method is several percents.

  • 본 논문은 경계처리 및 계산과정에 있어서 좀더 개선된 파랑 예측이 보장되도록 기존의 정방형 좌표계에서 수립된 포물선형 및 쌍곡선형 파랑 모델을 경계고정좌표계에 적용하였다. 일정 수심의 만곡 수로를 따라 진행 및 반사하는 파랑에 대한 이론해와 비교하여 수치 모델 결과는 모두 만족할만하였다. 포물선형 모델의 반사 파랑 모의는 반사물에 접근한 입사파를 다시 외해 경계 쪽으로 역계산하여 수행된다.

역압력 구배가 있는 난류유동에 대한 수치적 연구 (A numerical study of turbulent flows with adverse pressure gradient)

  • Turbulent flows around tube banks and in the diffuser were studied using a non-orthogonal boundary fitted coordinate system and the modified K-.epsilon. turbulence model. In these cases, many problems emerge which stem from the geometrical complexity of the flow domain and the physical complexity of turbulent flow itself. To treat the complex geometry, governing equations were reformulated in a non-orthogonal coordinate system with Cartesian velocity components and discretised by the finite volume method with a non-staggered variable arrangement. The modified K-.epsilon. model of Hanjalic and Launer was applied to solve above two cases under the condition of strong and mild pressure gradient. The results using the modified K-.epsilon. model results in both test cases.

  • In this study the heat transfer and fluid flow of the molten pool in stationary gas tungsten arc welding using argon shielding gas were investigated. Transporting phenomena from the welding arc to the base material surface, such as current density, heat flux, arc pressure and shear stress acting on the weld pool surface, were taken from the simulation results of the corresponding welding arc. Various driving forces for the weld pool convection were considered, self-induced electromagnetic, surface tension, buoyancy, and impinging plasma arc forces. Furthermore, the effect of surface depression due to the arc pressure acting on the molten pool surface was considered. Because fusion boundary has a curved and unknown shape during welding, a boundary-fitted coordinate system was adopted to precisely describe the boundary for the momentum equation. The numerical model was applied to AISI 304 stainless steel and compared with the experimental results.

수직수문하의 경계층흐름 (Boundary Layer Flow Under a Sluice Gate)

  • 수직수문하의 경계층 흐름(boundary layer flow)이 경계고정좌표계(Boundary- Fitted Coordinate System)에서 무작위 소용돌이 판 방법(Random Vortex Sheet Method)과 요소내 소용돌이 방법(Vortex-in-Cell Method)을 이용하여 수치계산되었다. 수치해에 의한 수문을 따라 형성된 경계층이 수축률의 실험자료와 비점성이론에 의한 그 결과의 차이를 유발하는 주원인인 것으로 보여진다. 그 동안 주원인일 것으로 믿어왔던 바닥면 경게층의 역할은 수문면의 그 것보다는 적은 것으로 수치계산되었다. 또한 차원해석을 통하여 경계층 흐름에 의한 수축율의 그 차이가 수문 길이의 평방근에 반비례하는 것으로 추정되었으며, 이는 Benjamin(1956)에 의하여 분석된 것과 결국 동일한 것임이 밝혀졌다. 수치모델과 차원해석에 따른 결과는 Benjamin(1956)에 의해 얻어진 수축률의 실허미와 비교하여 만족할 만하였다.

FDM을 이용한 레이저 절단 공정에서의 절단 메카니즘 및 절단폭의 해석 (A Study on Cutting Mechanism and Heat Transfer Analysis in Laser Cutting Process)

  • A two-dimensional transient heat transfer model for reactive gas assisted laser cutting process with a moving Gaussian heat source is developed using a numerical finite difference technique. The kerf width, melting front shape and temperature distribution were calculated by using the boundary-fitted coordinate system to handle the ejection of workpiece material and heat input from reaction and evaporation. An analytical solution for cutting front movement was adopted and numerical simulation was performed to calculate the temperature distribution and melting front thickness. To calculate the moving velocity of cutting front, the normal distribution of the cutting gas velocity was used. The kerf width was revealed to be dependent on the cutting velocity, laser power and cutting gas velocity.
