  • bottom ash has difficult in recycling because of low activity and unburned carbon. so our study was control the unburned carbon for improvement of bottom ash. unburned carbon was controlled by distribution. The result of distribution is good that unburned carbon of bottom ash decrease in 4.5%. when we are replace bottom ash with OPC to 10$\sim$30%, specimens strength is decrease. but mix of controlled bottom ash revealed that it's strength increase 6% better than uncontrolled bottom ash.

  • Based on the proven feasibility of bottom ash and tire shred-soil mixtures as lightweight fill materials, tire shred-bottom ash mixtures were suggested as a new lightweight fill material to replace the conventional construction material with bottom ash. Therefore, we carried out the laboratory test, field compaction test and performance test of large scale embankment in order to evaluate their suitability for the use of lightweight fill materials in the before studies. We could verified that the ash, tire-shred and the mixture are able to be the useful materials as light fill materials. In this study, we built real scale embankment with RBA(Reclamated Bottom Ash), TRBA(Tire shred-Reclamated Bottom Ash mixture), WS(Weathered Soil), BA(Bottom Ash screened by 5mm sieve) for monitoring the behavior such as settlement, lateral displacement and water content change. Furthermore, we are examining the ground water quality in the surrounding area of the test embankment.

  • The objective of this study is to find the electrical properties of Bottom ash from thermoelectric power plants in Korea. By using Parallel Plate Method, the electrical resistivity and dielectric constant were measured at the frequency from 20 Hz to 10 MHz. Also, unconfined strength test, XRF and sieve analysis were performed for finding the relationship between strength, physiochemical properties and electrical properties. In the result, the change of electrical resistivity and dielectric constant of bottom ash against frequency was similar to that of general soil. The proportion of fine grain in bottom ash had the positive correlation with dielectric constant and negative correlation with electrical resistivity. Chloride and sulfur trioxide were proportional to dielectric constant and the more bottom ash had chloride content, the lower electrical resistivity appeared in bottom ash. Unconfined strength of bottom ashes had a range from 200 kPa to 780 kPa and strength was inverse proportional to electrical resistivity.

  • With the development of the industry, such as homes and industries of electric energy usage and thereby increase the supply of electrical energy for power generation facilities were also increased. Among them an increase in thermal power plants, such as Bottom Ash was accompanied by an increase in industrial waste. If fly ash is recycled, some ten thousand Fly Ash and Bottom Ash Landfill, the recycling rate is low in most. In this study, in order to resolve the problem of fly ash recycling Bottom Ash to take advantage of low physical and chemical characteristics were analyzed. Evaluation of Physical Properties of Bottom Ash In addition, through the evaluation of functional properties of additives chogyeol condensation of 1 hour or more, within 3 hours of closing, Flow has more than 190mm of wheel load resistance value is less than 3mm flooring developed to study the subsequent emphasis on the Properties is based. Through these studies by developing a functional flooring help with the problem of resource depletion, and losses due to reclamation and pollution is to prevent.

  • In this study, the physical and dynamic characteristics of Bottom-ash produced at steam power plants were compared and considered. The comparative objects were Bottom-ash in which a lot of powder contained and that in which less than that relatively contained. The difference in quantity of powder showed different effect on the character of flow. This study was undertaken on the use of Bottom-ash as a fine aggregate, and showed the durability and the character of strength according to each rate.

  • Recently, a global trend has been established to facilitate the use of waste materials in geotechnical engineering applications. In Korea, where there is the need to save natural resources as these may become scare in the near future and to prevent excessive ground excavation for natural aggregates. The annual production of scrap tire and bottom ash has sharply increased in recent years. Therefore, it will be good waste resource recycling, if we can utilize the above wastes as fill materials in soft ground. In this study, based on the proven feasibility of bottom ash and tire shred-soil mixtures as lightweight fill materials, tire shred-bottom ash mixtures were suggested as a new lightweight fill material to replace the conventional construction material(soil) with bottom ash. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to investigate the feasibility of tire shred-bottom ash mixtures in order to estimate their suitability for the use of lightweight fill materials. So we carried out the performance tests of 2 large scale embankment which were made with tire shred-bottom ash mixture and the conventional fill material(weathered soil) respectively.

  • In this study, we prepared the board of vermiculite materials utilizing coal bottom ash from the Western thermal power stations in Korea and obtained experimental data in applications for building interior materials with the characteristics of sound absorption. To produce the mixture materials of vermiculite and coal bottom ash, we used a microwave drying process. In addition, a ball milling process was used to produce particles of coal bottom ash with a uniform size of $65{\mu}m$. When the board made from mixture materials of vermiculite and coal bottom ash were produced with bottom ash sulfur concentrations of 5, 10 wt%, maximum bending loads were analyzed. These experimental results would contribute much to fundamental data essential to the recycling technology of coal bottom ash.

  • Economic benefits of the dry bottom ash handling system over the wet bottom ash handling system in a new 500MW${\times}$2units pulverized coal thermal power plant in Korea were evaluated. The higher initial capital cost in the dry bottom ash handling system was estimated. However, this higher initial capital costs would be compensated with reductions of the operating cost mainly due to the recycling of bottom ash. Economic analysis showed that the payback period of 4.9 years and the internal rate of return at 21.1% were expected for the additional initial capital cost of the dry bottom ash handling system.

  • Bottom ash, which is discharged through a wet process in a thermal power plant, contains much unburned coal due to quenching and much salt due to seawater. However, dry bottom ash discharged through a dry process contains low unburned coal and salt, and has light -weight due to many pores. Therefore, it is expected that it can be used as lightweight aggregate. This study deals with the basic properties of concrete used dry bottom ash as coarse aggregate. As a results, the concrete having high content of dry bottom ash aggregate showed high slump by using water reducing agent and its air content was within 5±1.5% as designed value, similarly to normal weight concrete. It also showed a lower compressive strength than 100% of crushed stone.
