  • The objective of this study was to analyze an availability of green roof soil based on the bottom ash soil and compost using sludge derived from food factory as comparing and analysing the growth of native plants. Analysing the physical properties and chemical resistance of 12 different type mixing soils which is mainly used in green roof, selected 4 types of soil, experiments were conducted to compare plant growth. The growth status of the plant showed the most superior of the soil 13(control), next soil 9(Pearlite : Bottom Ash : Compost = 20 : 60 : 20) and soil 10(Pearlite : Zeolite : Compost = 60 : 20 : 20) This result showed that native plants grow well in the soil based on the bottom ash and compost using sludge derived from food factory, and this soil type is determined that is available the green roof soil.

  • Shaking table tests and pseudo-static analysis were performed, in this study, on newly-designed aseismatic L-type caisson quay walls, which were constructed by extending the bottom plate of gravity quay walls into the backfill soil. The L-type quay walls are expected to give economical benefits by reducing the cross-sectional area of the wall while maintaining its aseismatic efficiency as much as the classical caisson gravity quay wall. To confirm the effectiveness of the L-type structure, the geometry of L-type quay walls were varied for shaking table tests. And, to verify the influence of backfill soils on the seismic behavior of quay walls, additional shaking table tests were performed on the L-type quay wall after the backfill soils were replaced by gravels and light materials. As a result, it was found that L-type caisson quay walls are good earthquake resistant structures but increasing the length of bottom plate did not proportionally increase the effectiveness of the structure in its aseismatic performance. Replacing the backfill soils by the gravels and light materials, contrary to our expectation, was not an effective measure in improving the seismic performance of L-type caisson quay wall.

  • Due to the population growth and development of industry, waste from household and industries has increased. As the advanced countries experienced these problems, they have already started research on recycling methods of waste incineration ashes. Domestic recycling rate of incineration ash became up to 80 percent as high as the level of developed countries, but the recycling was limited to fly ash for admixture in concrete. In case of bottom ash, most of bottom ash was reclaimed in the landfills. Therefore, basic physical property and mechanical experiments for bottom ash were conducted in this study to evaluate the possibility of incineration bottom ash as an alternative construction materials. Bottom ashes from three different landfills with two different incineration methods were tested. Incineration methods are Stoker type Incinerator and Pyrolysis-Melting Treatment. Bottom ash can be used as an alternative granular material for construction based on the basic physical property and mechanical characteristics similar to those of sandy materials. However, the incineration method should be considered since it can affect the material and mechanical characteristics of the incineration bottom ash.

  • The objective of this study is to estimate the cost and benefits of street trees for their planting types, specifically, single row, single row+bottom, double row, double row+bottom. Different planting types are compared and analyzed by using Net Present Value (NPV) and benefit-cost ratio (BCR). Existing data are collected from the literature reviews for the use of meta-analysis method for estimating cost and benefit. The elements for analyzing costs are management and planting costs, and benefits are air purification, energy saving and landscape view. The discount rate is applied at a minimum of 3% and a maximum of 5.5%. The unit used in this calculation is km/year. The result shows that the net benefit is highest in double row, followed by single row, double row+bottom, and single row+bottom. The BCR is the highest in double row, followed by single row, double row+bottom, and single row+bottom. The BCR reaches the break-even point from 9 to 17 years depending on the planting types.

  • The main point of this study is to use the principle of Coriolis force and the sense of fingertips to scratch the surface of the wall by high-speed rotation (RPM) to push the texture of the stripe from the inside to the outer wall, and to express the beautiful, dynamic and distinctive outer wall texture that is diversified by Coriolis force (centrifugal force). This is designated as Coriolis force technique. In addition, instead of the traditional flat bottom foot onggi molding technique, a new type of flat bottom foot that uses the electric wheel to push the cylinder from inside to out to expand the outer wall and to spread the bottom of foot flatly. The purpose of this study is to create a modernized, distinctive, new interior work by fusing these techniques.

  • In this study, in order to investigate the wave-induced buoyancy effects, experimental studies were conducted on pontoon-type floating structures. A series of small-scale tests with various wave cases were performed on the pontoon models. A total of four small-scale pontoon models with different lateral shapes and bottom details were fabricated and tested under the five different wave cases. Six hydraulic pressure gauges were attached to the bottom surfaces of the pontoon models and the wave-induced hydraulic pressure was measured during the tests. Finally, hydraulic pressures subjected to the bottoms of the pontoon models were compared with each other. As the results of this study, it was found that whereas the waffled bottom shape hardly influenced the wave-induced hydraulic pressure, the hybrid lateral shape significantly influenced the wave-induced hydraulic pressure subjected on the bottoms of floating structures. The air gap effects of the hybrid shape contribute to decreasing the wave-induced hydraulic pressure due to absorption of wave impact energy. Compared with box type, the hydraulic pressures of the hybrid type were about 83% at the bow, 74% at the middle, and 53% at the stern.

  • We fabricated a copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) based field-effect transistor with different device structure as a bottom and top contact FET. Also, we used a $SiO_2$ as a gate insulator and analyzed using a current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the bottom and top contact CuPc FET device. In order to discuss the channel formation, we were observed the capacitance-gate voltage(C-V) characteristics of the bottom and top contact CuPc FET device.

  • Recently, the method of the apartment building design has been changed from wall type structures to moment structures. With like this reason, dry walls we used plentifully. Especially, the gypsum board was used from previously plentifully however the weak point of it is difficult to maintain because it weak strength. For the improvement of gypsum board, light weight concrete panel using cement board is used recently. As this study is the research of the series t on the development of non-bearing light weight concrete panel using bottom ash, the purpose of this study is to obtain basic data for application in the field. The results are that the structure 1 satisfies domestic standard concerned with sound insulation between households at the laboratory and field test.

  • The atomic fuel rods between top and bottom end pieces of reactor need to be extended for high combustion rate of future-type fuel to increase the irradiation in the axial direction. For allowing axial extension of the fuel rods, the space between top and bottom end pieces should be expanded. Thus the thickness reduction of the flow plate is necessary. This study was carried out the mechanical strength test by using strain gages as a function of flow plate thickness, the existence of skirt and loading condition for the Korean Fuel Assembly(KOFA). The experimental apparatus was designed for load conditions, uniformly distributed load and displacement. Test method using whiffle tree of uniformly distributed load has been comparatively conservative. The test results were compared with those of finite element analysis and the test method on bottom end piece was established.

  • Bottom gate and top gate field-effect transistor based carbon nanotube(CNT) were fabricated by CMOS process. Carbon nanotube directly grown by thermal chemical vapor deposition(CVD) using Ethylene ($C_2H_4$) gas at $700^{\circ}C$. The growth properties of CNTs on the device were analyzed by SEM and AFM. The electrical transport characteristics of CNT FET were investigated by I-V measurement. Transport through the nanotubes is dominated by holes at room temperature. By varying the gate voltage, bottom gate and top gate field-effect transistor successfully modulated the conductance of FET device.
