  • Differently from fly ash, the bottom ash produced from incinerated urban solid waste has been treated as an industrial waste matter, and almost reclaimed a tract form the sea. If this waste material is applicable to foam concrete as an fine aggregate, however, it may be worthy of environmental preservation by recycling of waste material as well as reducing self-weight of high-rising structure and long-span bridge. This research has an objective of evaluating the effects of application of bottom ash on the mechanical properties of foam concrete. Thus, the ratio of bottom ash to cement was selected as a variable for experiment and the effect was tested by compression strength, flexural strength, absorption ratio, density, expansion factor. It can be observed from experiments that the application ratios have different effects on the material parameters considered in this experiment, thus major relationship between application ratio and each material parameter were finally introduced. The result of this study can be applied to decide a optimal mix design proportion of foam light-weight concrete while bottom ash is used as an fine aggregate of the concrete.

  • The spudcan requires the suitable design considering the soil, platform, and environmental conditions. Its shape needs to be designed to secure sufficient reaction of soil so that it can prevent overturning accidents. Its shape also has to minimize the installation and extraction time. Even in the same soil condition, the reaction of soil may be different depending on the shape of spud can, mainly the slope of top and bottom plates. Therefore, in this study, the relation between the slope of plates and the reaction of soil with and without water jetting is analyzed to better understand their interactions and correlations. For the investigation, a wind turbine installation jack-up rig (WTIJ) is selected as the target platform and the Gulf of Mexico is considered as the target site. A multi layered (sand overlying two clays) soil profile is applied as the assumed soil condition and the soil-structure interaction (SSI) analysis is performed by using ANSYS to analyze the effect of the slope change of the bottom plate and water jetting on the reaction of soil. This kind of investigation and simulation is needed to develop optimal and smart spudcan with water-jetting control in the future.

  • This study is designed to reduction of hydration heat of 4 layer division-placed mass concrete considering the difference of setting time of super retarding agent. According to the results, peak temperature of plain concrete by hydration heat show $63^{\circ}C$ around the age of 1 days. Hydration heat is lowest in the bottom layer, and highest in the middle of 3rd layer from the bottom. Hydration heat of mock up structure, which is division-placed at the same interval of 1 and 2 days by setting time difference of super retarding agent, is highest in the bottom layer because after peak temperature of 4th layer, hydration reaction progresses in order of 3rd, 2nd and 1st layer. But in mock up structure which is division-placed at the various interval. peak temperature by hydration heat is reduced by about $13^{\circ}C$, compared with plain concrete because after first peak hydration heat of 4th layer (plain concrete), hydration reaction progresses after the drop of hydration heat in order of 3rd, 2nd and 1st layer.

  • AIN-based film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) devices which adopt a membrane-type configuration such as Mo/AIN/bottom-metal/Si are fabricated by employing a novel process. The proposed resonator structure does not require any supporting layer above the substrate, which leads to the reduction in energy loss of the resonators. For all the FBAR devices, the frequency response characteristics are measured and the device parameters, such as return loss and input impedance, are extracted from the frequency responses, and analyzed in terms of the various metals such as Al. Cu, Mo, W used in the bottom-electrode. The mass-loading effect caused by the used bottom-electrode metals is found to be the main reason for the difference revealed in the measured characteristics of the fabricated FBAH devices. The results obtained in this study also show that the degree of match in lattice constant and thermal expansion coefficient hetween piezoelectric layers and electrode metals is crucial to determine the device performance of FEAR.

  • Tuned Liquid Dampers (TLDs) provide low damping when it comes to deep water condition, and that not all water depth is mobilized in energy dissipation. This research focussed on a method to improve the efficiency of TLDs with deep water condition. Several bottom-mounted baffles were installed inside a TLD and the dynamic characteristics of modified TLDs together with their effect on the vibration control of a SDOF structure were studied experimentally. A series of free vibration and harmonic forced vibration tests were carried out. The controlling parameter in the conducted tests was the Vertical Blocking Ratio (VBR) of baffles. Results indicated that increase in VBR decreases the natural frequency of TLD and increases its damping ratio. It was found that the VBR range of 10% to 30% reduced response of the structure significantly. The modified TLD with the VBR of 30% showed the best performance when reduction in structural responses under harmonic excitations were compared.

  • To investigate water mass structure and DO(Dissolved Oxygen) distribution in Chinhae Bay, temperature, salinity and DO were observed in the bay in summer and winter from 1990 to 1993, and two-dimensional tidal current and parameter log($H/U^3$) were computed. Shallow water fronts in the bay were formed in summer in Kaduk channel and the central part of the bay having log($H/U^3$) values of $2.0{\sim}2.5$. Oxygen deficiency at the bottom layer in summer occurred in the western and northern part of the bay with weak tidal current, where the value of log($H/U^3$) was more than about 3.5 and $M_2$ tidal current was less than about 20 cm/s. DO concentration at the bottom layer of Kaduk channel and the central channel of the bay having the strong tidal current was more than about 3.5 mg/l. The isolines of DO concentration were nearly parallel to the isovelocity, and the concentrations correlated with the frontal location. The frontal location and DO distribution were influenced by tidal range, river inflow and meteorological conditions, and also correlated with bottom slope characteristics.

  • Tong-young LNG tank is a LNG storage tank of 140,000 kl, and it is composed of Bottom Slab(Annular, Center), Outer Wall, Ring Beam and Roof. Generally, when concrete temperature arise, the complex thermal stress of inner and outer part can cause serious thermal crack and damage at structure. So in this paper, for the control of this thermal crack, we did the concrete mix design with the base of fly-ash 30% substitute at binder, and through the computer modelling at Bottom Slab(Annular, Center), Outer Wall, Ring Beam and Roof, we studied the probability of thermal crack by thermal crack index.

  • With injection-type source delivery system of atomic layer deposition (ALD), bottom-contact and bottom-gate thin-film transistors (TFTs) were fabricated with a poly-4-vinyphenol polymeric dielectric for the first time. The properties of the ZnO TFT were greatly influenced by the device structure and the process conditions. The zinc oxide TFTs exhibited a channel mobility of 0.43 $cm^2$/Vs, a threshold voltage of 0.85 V, a subthreshold slope of 3.30 V/dec, and an on-to-off current ratio of above $10^6$ with solid saturation.

  • In this paper, we investigated about wet cleaning effect as deep trench formation methods for Power chip devices. Deep trench structure was classified by two methods, PSU (Poly Stick Up) and Non-PSU structure. In this paper, we could remove residue defect during wet. cleaning after deep trench etch process for non-PSU structure device as to change wet cleaning process condition. V-SEM result showed void image at the trench bottom site due to residue defect and residue component was oxide by EDS analysis. In order to find the reason of happening residue defect, we experimented about various process conditions. So, defect source was that oxide film was re-deposited at trench bottom by changed to hydrophobic property at substrate during hard mask removal process. Therefore, in order to removal residue defect, we added in-situ SCI during hard mask removal process, and defect was removed perfectly. And WLR (Wafer Level Reliability) test result was no difference between normal and optimized process condition.

  • To understand the vertical structure of ocean currents from raw data observed by lowered-ADCP (LADCP), these data require post-processing. Data were processed using Krahman's version 10.8 processing software based on Matlab. It is estimated the influence of auxiliary data affecting the processed current structure. The bottom-tracked velocities and the GPS information significantly contribute the offset on reference velocities in the bottom layer and barotropic ones in the middle layer, respectively. Good quality data can be obtained when LADCP is least tilted in pitch and roll during observation. In situ application of LADCP to the (northward) volume transports of Kuroshio in the East China Sea proved to be 24.8. Sv (= $1{\times}10^6m^3s^{-1}$) in October 2007, and 28.2 Sv in June 2008, respectively. The volume transport is relatively large over the continental slope when compared to the shelf or the deep sea.
