쇄석과 저회의 혼합다짐말뚝의 전단강도와 Clogging 현상 규명 (Characteristics on Shear Strength and Clogging Phenomenon of Bottom Ash and Rammed Aggregate Mixture Compaction Pile)

  • 본 논문에서는 모래에 비해 배수성이 떨어지지 않으며 지지력이 우수할 것으로 판단되는 쇄석을 사용하여 연약점성토지반에서 쇄석다짐말뚝을 시공 후 쇄석간의 공극에 점토입자의 유입으로 인해 배수능을 상실하는 Clogging 현상에 대한 대체방안을 규명하고자 하였다. 이러한 Clogging 현상의 억제방안으로 국내 화력발전소에서 발생되는 산업폐기물인 석탄회 중 재활용 방안이 미비한 저회의 활용 가능성을 높여 보고자 쇄석과 저회의 적정 혼합비의 다짐시험에 따라 대형직접전단시험을 실시하여 최대전단강도와 내부마찰각을 파악하고, 그에 따른 Clogging 현상의 특성에 대해 실험을 실시하였다. 따라서, 쇄석과 저회의 혼합비에 따른 지지력 및 강도특성을 파악하여 적정 혼합비를 찾고, 현장과 같은 Clogging 현상을 육안으로 확인할 수 있도록 모형토조를 제작하였으며 적정 혼합비에 따른 배수능을 비교 분석하였다. 실험결과 각 혼합비에 따른 대형직접전단시험에서 쇄석과 저회의 혼합비가 80:20일 때 전단강도와 내부마찰각이 가장 크게 나타났으며 Clogging 시험에서도 쇄석 100%의 다짐말뚝보다 Clogging 억제 효과가 점진적으로 뛰어남을 확인하였다.

원통형 섬에 의한 Kelvin 파의 산란 (Scattering of a Kelvin Wave by a Cylindrical Island)

  • 장파의 산란이론(Produman, 1914; Longuet-Higgins, 1970)을 대륙붕상의 작은 원 통형 섬주변을 전파하는 조석주기의 Kelvin 파에 적용하였으며, 해저마찰의 효과를 포 함하였다. 이론적 분석에 의하면 산란파의 진폭은 섬주변에서 Kelvin 파의 진폭 감소 율을 변화시킨다. 이러한 진폭의 변화로 비점성 유체의 경우에 섬 연안에 따라 진폭이 균등해지고, 진폭변화는 전향력의 작용으로 설명되어 진다. 해저마찰력은 파가 전파되 어 오는 쪽 연안에서 전파되어 가는 쪽 연안으로 진폭을 감쇄시키나, 연안을 따른 진 폭변화는 상기 연안을 연결하는 선에 대하여 대칭이다. 산란파의 위상은 외해에 비해 전파되어 오고 가는 쪽 연안 부근에서 파의 진행이 빨라지게 한다. 섬 주변에서 파의 위상분포에 미치는 해저면 마찰력의 영향은 무시할만 하다.

An Analytical Model of Co-oscillating Tide under Frictional Effect in the Yellow Sea

  • The response of the tidal waves to friction effect is investigated in terms of deformation of Kelvin and Poincare modes, The 1st Poincare mode does not exist over the low frequency region less than the critical frequency of omega ${\omega}$${\sqrt{2f}}$, with ${\gamma}$/f=0.0, but the mode comes to exist in the presence of friction. When friction exists and its magnitude increases, the wave number increases, indicating that the wave length of the Poincare mode becomes increasingly short with increasing friction. The damping coefficient gradually increases with increasing friction over the high frequency region, but the trend is reversed over the low frequency region. In case of Kelvin wave the present study substantiates the characters of Kelvin wave examined by Mofjeld (1980) and Lee (1988). Based on the examination of frictional effects on the tidal wave propagation, the co-oscillating tides in the Yellow Sea are examined by considering both the head opening and bottom friction effects. As friction is introduced and increased in addition to partial opening at bay head, the location of the amphidromic point near the Shantung Peninsula moves more southwestward. This southwestward movement of the amphidromic point is increasingly compatible with the observed location of Ogura's or Nishida's tidal chart of the M$_2$ tide.

Location determining method of critical sliding surface of fillings in a karst cave of tunnel

  • A location determining method is proposed for critical sliding surface in the stability analysis of the filling materials in karst caves. First, a preliminary location of the sliding surface is determined based on simulation results which includes displacement contour and plastic zone. The sliding surface will locate on the bottom contact interface when the friction angle is relative small. However, a weakened contact interface always becomes the critical sliding surface no matter what the friction angle is. Then when the friction angle becomes larger, the critical sliding surface inside fillings can be determined by a parabola, the coefficient of which increases linearly with the friction angle under the same cohesion. Finally, the critical sliding surface approximately remains unchanged with friction angle. The influence of cohesion is similar to that of friction angle. Although affected by shape, size or position of the karst cave, the critical sliding surface mainly depends on both friction angle and cohesion. Thus, this method is always useful in determining the critical sliding surface.

  • An experimental research has been carried out for flow control of the shock wave/turbulent boundary-layer interaction utilizing aeroelastic mesoflaps. Various shapes and thicknesses of the mesoflap are tested to achieve different deflections of the flap, and ail the results are compared to the solid-wall reference case without flow-control mechanism. Quantitative variation of skin friction has been measured downstream of the interactions using the laser interferometer skin friction meter, and qualitative skin friction distribution has been obtained by observing the interference fringe pattern on the oil-film surface. A strong spanwise variation in the fringe patterns with a narrow region of separation near the centerline is noticed to form behind the shock structure, which phenomenon is presumed partially related to three-dimensional flow structures associated with both the sidewalls and the bottom test surface. The effect of the shape of the cavity is also observed and it is noticed that the shape of the cavity is not negligible.

  • The oscillatory boundary layer that develops when surface waves propagate over the sea bottom affects many flow-pendent phenomena in the coastal zone. Examples of such phenomena are wave energy dissipation due to bottom friction and the initiation and transport of sediment (Grant and Madsen 1986).   • Heat transfer distributions and friction factors in square channels (3.5 ${\times}$ 3.5 cm) with twisted tape inserts and with twisted tape inserts plus interrupted ribs are respectively investigated. Tests are performed for Reynolds numbers ranging from 8,900 to 29,000. The rib height-to-channel hydraulic diameter, e/Dh, is kept at 0.057 and test section length-to-hydraulic diameter, L/Dh is 30. The twisted tape is 0.1 mm thick carbon steel sheet with diameter of 3.3cm, length of 90cm, and 2.5 turns. The square ribs are arranged to follow the trace of the twisted tape and along the flow direction defined as axial interrupted ribs. Each wall of the square channel is composed of isolated aluminum sections. The following conclusions from the experimental study were drawn as: 1) In the 4 heating wall channel with twisted tape inserts, Nusselt number based on bottom wall temperature is enhanced by 1.2 - 1.6 times if adding the axial interrupted ribs on the bottom wall only. 2) The twisted tape with interrupted ribs under the two-sided heating condition produces the highest heat transfer performance. 3) Friction factor data obtained for the square channel with twisted tape inserts plus axial interrupted ribs are less than those in the past publications for circular tubes with axial interrupted ribs and twisted tape inserts.

절단 볏짚의 물리적 성질 (Some Physical Properties of Chopped Rice Straw)

  • This study was performed to determine the kinetic friction coefficient bulk density, dynamic and static angle of repose, and terminal velocity of the chopped rice straw in the moisture range of 8~23%, which could be used for better design and operation of the processing machinery and handling facilities. Friction coefficient was determined from the horizontal traction force measured by pulling the container holding the mass of rice straw on the various plate materials. Bulk density was measured with an apparatus consisting of a filling funnel and a receiving vessel. Dynamic angle of repose was calculated from the photos of bulk samples piled by gravity flow on a circular platform. Static angle of repose was determined by measuring the side angle of the bulk material which was left in the cylindrical container after natural discharge of the bulk sample through a circular hole in the bottom plate. Kinetic friction coefficients of rice straw on the PVC, mild steel, stainless steel, and galvanized steel were in the range of 0.303~0.434, 0.222~0.439, 0.204~0.448, and 0.206~0.407, respectively. and indicated linear increase with moisture content. The effects of moisture change on the friction coefficients were in the order of PVC, mild steel, galvanized steel, and stainless steel. Bulk density, dynamic and static angle of repose, and terminal velocity were in the range of 56.8~60.3 kg/m$^3$, 41.4~45.9$^{\circ}$, 94.4~100.8$^{\circ}$, and 1.07~4.48 m/s, respectively, and were increased linearly with the moisture content.

저회의 성토재료 활용성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Bottom Ash for Utilization of Subbase Materials)

  • 최근 들어 산업부산물인 저회를 지반 매립재로 활용하려는 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 5개 사에서 채취된 저회와 풍화토 혼합하여, 3가지 저회의 혼합비 (30%, 50%, 70%)에 따른 다짐실험, CBR 실험 및 삼축 압축실험 등이 수행되었다. 실험 결과, 저회를 혼입한 혼합토의 CBR값은 20을 상회하였으며, 소성을 보이지 않아 성토재료로 사용이 가능할 것으로 평가되었다. 혼합토에 사용된 저회의 역학적 성능이 풍화토보다 우수하므로, 혼합비가 증가할수록 혼합토의 CBR값은 뚜렷한 증가를 나타내었다. 그러나, 배합후 입자배열에는 큰 영향을 주지 못하므로, 혼합비에 따른 내부마찰각 및 점착력의 변화는 뚜렷하게 평가되지 못했다. 저회는 시료 자체의 강성이 있으므로, 지지력이 풍화토에 비하여 크게 평가되었으며, 성토재료로서의 활용할 수 있음을 실험적으로 규명하였다.
