  • The use of high-gain-voltage step-up converters for distributed power generation systems is being popularized because of the need for new energy generation and power conversion technologies. In this study, a new constructed high-gain-boost DC-DC converter was proposed to coordinate low voltage output DC sources, such as PV or fuel cell systems, with high DC bus (380 V) lines. Compared with traditional boost DC-DC converters, the proposed converter can create higher gain and has wider input voltage range and lower voltage stress for power semiconductors and passive elements. Moreover, the proposed topology produces multilevel DC voltage output, which is the main advantage of the proposed topology. Steady-state analysis in continuous conduction mode of the proposed converter is discussed in detail. The practicability of the proposed DC-DC converter is presented by experimental results with a 300 W prototype converter.

  • In this paper, a DC and small-signal AC modeling for the active-clamp, ful1-bridge boost converter is described. Based on the operation principle, the ac part of the converter can be replaced by a dc counterpart. Then, a conceptual equivalent circuit is derived by rearranging the switches. The equivalent circuit for this converter consists of CCM(Continuous conduction mode) boost and DCM(Discontinuous conduction mode) buck converter. The analyses for the equivalent CCM boost and DCM buck converter are done using the model of PWM switch. The theoretical modeling results are confirmed through experiment or SIMPLIS simulation.

  • In this paper, bi-directional buck-boost DC-DC converter for bus regulation system is presented. This converter which has one buck and one boost topology achieves bi-directional power flow using a common power inductor and alternative power switches. By connecting the battery to bus line, it can be regulated to bus voltage and charged the battery alternatively. And as an application, a mode controller is adopted to the converter.

  • Recently, the high frequency link boost DC/DC converter has been used widely for PCS (Power Conditioning System) because of the requirements of small size and low cost. However, the high frequency link boost DC/DC converters applied the conventional voltage-fed converter and current-fed converter have some problems like high conduction losses and high surge voltage due to high circulating current and leakage inductance, respectively. To improve these problems, a novel secondary LLC (called SLLC) series resonant converter is proposed in this paper and its theoretical analysis, its operating waveforms, simulation and experimental results for a boost DC/DC converter using SLLC series resonant topology verifies the proposed topology. 800W experimental prototype is tested.

  • Since the non-overlapping gate driver used in conventional DC-DC boost converters generates fixed dead-times, the converters suffer from the body-diode conduction loss or the charge-sharing loss. To reduce the efficiency degradation due to these losses, this paper presents a PWM DC-DC boost converter with adaptive dead-time control. The proposed DC-DC boost converter delivering 3.3V output from a 2.5V input is designed with CMOS $0.3{\mu}m$ technology. It operates at 500kHz and has a maximum power efficiency of 97.3%.

  • This paper introduces an energy harvesting system that generates energy by collecting multi-band RF signals using buck-boost DC-DC converter. In an environment where the resistance of load using the collected electric energy is constantly changing, a buck-boost DC-DC converter is used in which the input resistance of the DC-DC converter does not change even if the load resistance changes. Since the frequency band of the input RF signal varies, the rectifier is designed for each band so that multiple bands can be processed, and a matching circuit is added to each band in front of the rectifier. For a rectifier to collect very small RF signals, a circuit is designed so that a constant voltage is obtained according to a very small input signal by devising a method of continuously accumulating the voltages collected and generated in each band. It is confirmed that the output efficiency can reach up to 20% even for the RF signal having the input of -20 dBm.

  • This paper presents a CMOS interface circuit for vibration energy harvesting. The proposed circuit consists of an AC-DC converter and a DC-DC boost converter. The AC-DC converter rectifies the AC signals from vibration devices(PZT), and the DC-DC boost converter generates a boosted and regulated output at a predefined level. A full-wave rectifier using active diodes is used as the AC-DC converter for high efficiency, and a schottky diode type DC-DC boost converter is used for a simple control circuitry. A MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control is also employed to harvest the maximum power from the PZT. The proposed circuit has been designed in a 0.35um CMOS process. The chip area is $530um{\times}325um$. Simulation results shows that the maximum efficiencies of the AC-DC converter and DC-DC boost converter are 97.7% and 89.2%, respectively. The maximum efficiency of the entire system is 87.2%.

  • This paper proposed DC-DC converter for fuel cell that have high voltage and high current output characteristics. It is required step-up converter to use by general power supply, because the general rated voltage of fuel cell is low about 20$\sim$50V. The miniaturization of converter and DC link voltage can be controlled and high quality of output voltage uses mainly DC-DC converter. The boost converter and buck-boost converter do not get high boosting ratio. It is that proposed boost-flyback converter. Through simulation and an experiment, it could get high boosting ratio and efficiency more than 90%.
