This paper proposes a design method of an authoring tool for making 3D e-book using DirectX development tools. There are several functions such as generation and modification of 3D objects, modification of textures, stereoscopic modes and pictures, video export and so on in the proposed authoring tool. To support these functions, we proposes design scheme such as data structures for generating 3D objects, anaglyph method using color differences and video export method using BandiCap library.

This study did derive a characteristic of a cover design through considering a concept, a function and components of a cover design based on a literature study and through analyzing cases of the best-seller cover designs for the literature section from 1999 to 2002. In terms of a reader's preference for a cover design according to an age and sex of a reader, it tried to suggest a condition and a method of a book-cover design through a questionnaire survey and the image evaluation. In a survey of the preference for a cover design, there was the difference of interest degree in a kind of a book, a place to buy a book and a cover design according to an age and sex. In addition, it was shown that a woman prefers the stylish typography, and both a man and a woman prefer the cool color. However, except these two, the reason why there is no difference in preference for visual elements are that a cover design is an integrative image comprising several elements. Accordingly, through the Semantic Differential Method, it carried out the evaluation as to a cover design as an integrative image. As a result of that, an abstract image was shown to be difficult to convey a meaning because of its fall in clarity. Further, a cover design mainly comprising the stylish typography gained the high evaluation in unique and clarity. It is thought to be attributable to the easiness to achieve a goal of seeing and reading in a cover design in which an image and the typography are balanced, rather than the excessive visual. Even though the visual is excellent, there was difference from what having been excellent in conveying a meaning, which is a functional aspect. This study tried to examine, limiting it only to a visual element. It will be hereafter required to proceed with a study on the influence on a reader's preference according to material, bookbinding and a form of book which are elements comprising a cover design.

The purpose of this study was to examine the designs of the menu books as an important tool of marketing and then present its improvement strategies. For this, the investigator comparatively examined the current status of menu book designs of the restaurants in Incheon area with 295 managers and then analyzed menu book designs by its designers. Menu book designers were printing houses (42.0%), specialized business (31.9%) and managers/employees (26.1%). 51.5% of menu books were impossible to substitute partially. Even there were seasonal menus or event menus, 27.5% of them were impossible to replace menu books partially; therefore, it was impossible to take a prompt action for seasonal or event menus. The easiness of understanding the terminology in menu books was average $2.74{\pm}0.45$(3-point scale). The harmony of menu book design with restaurants was average $2.46{\pm}0.51$ (3-point scale). Comparing to the menu books designed in specialized business, the menu books designed in printing houses or by managers/employees were uniform in type sizes (p < 0.001), had no menu photos (p < 0.001) and explanations (p < 0.001), and did not classify menus by groups (p < 0.001) in general. In addition, profit-making menus were not properly emphasized (p < 0.001), thus making the design of menu books a little improper. Therefore, it is necessary to educate managers in the restaurants to understand the importance of menu books and thus improve it. In addition, by maintaining close communication with designers of menu books, managers in the restaurants must ensure for their menu books to be designed appropriately, thus making their menu books play the role of an important marketing tool.

본 연구에서는 온라인 다중 사용자 환경의 eBook annotation 시스템 개발에서 데이터를 의미 기반으로 관리하고, 데이터에 대하여 상호 공통적인 이해를 표현하며, 그리고 데이터에 대한 무결성 검사 등을 지원하기 위해서 eBook annotation 온톨로지를 설계하였다. eBook annotation 데이터에 대한 상호 공통적인 이해의 표현을 위해서 한국 전자책 문서 표준인 EBKS(Electronic Book of Korea Standard)를 기반으로 설계 하였으며 설계 된 온톨로지는 Conceptual Graph(CG)를 사용하여 표현하였다. 의미 기반의 처리를 위해서 본 온톨로지에서는 동의어(synonym) 관계와 다국어(multilingua) 관계를 고려하였으며 또한 annotation 데이터 생성시 오류 방지와 중요도를 표현 하기 위해서 무결성 검사, 중요성 axiom을 고려 했다. 제안된 온톨로지는 annotation 데이터의 재사용성을 높일 수 있고 의미 정보를 활용함으로써 eLearning, cyberclass과 같은 다중사용자 환경에서 효과적인 협업을 가능하게 한다. 본 연구에서 구현한 eBook annotation 시스템은 설계한 온톨로지를 이용함으로써 의미 기반의 데이터 관리가 가능하다. 또한 annotation 생성 시 온톨로지 구조를 모르더라도 annotation을 생성할 수 있는 인터페이스를 구현하였다.

Because of today's rapid growth of digital contents market and many benefits of electronic book, many people have considerable interest in E-book. Furthermore multifarious consortiums take an active part in standardization of I-book, and many E-book tools have been provided by software manufactures all over the world. E-book tools include editor for production of E-Book, viewer for reading, and the like. Especially in E-book viewer, annotation function has to be Included to put arrangement, summation, recording, comment, emphasis and after comprehension to practical use. In this paper, a E-book viewer with annotation is designed according to the specifications of EBKS, Korean standard. The proposed viewer is aimed to implement in PDA with embedded Linux, but developed in Windows 2000 platform. Because development environment and application environment are different each other, Qt-Library and cross-compiler are used for cross-platform development. The viewer support various functions such as adjusting of font size, hypertext linking, retrieval of specific word, and so forth. And in addition to these basic functions, annotation function is designed for the viewer, which can be used for re-usage and sharing of important information.

오늘날 디지털 컨텐츠 시장의 급성장, 그리고 전자책이 갖는 장점들로 인하여 전세계적으로 전자책에 많은 관심을 집중시키고 있으며, 이에 전세계적으로 각국에서는 전자책 문서의 표준화를 위한 컨소시엄이 활동 중에 있다. 또한 전자책을 보기 위한 도구인 E-Book Viewer에 대한 여러 연구 및 서비스가 제공되고 있다. 이 중에서 주석 기능은 정보 공유 및 검색과 같은 다양한 활용을 위하여 반드시 필요한 기능이라 하겠다. 이에 본 연구에서는 주석을 지원하는 PDA용 E-Book Viewer의 설계를 위하여 Windows 환경에서 QT Labrary를 이용하였으며, 폰트의 크기와 스킨의 색상, 주석의 표현 여부 등을 설정할 수 있고, 특정 단어를 검색하는 기능을 지원한다.

21세기 정보화 사회가 요구하는 새로운 인재의 모습은 시대의 변화에 맞게 달라지고 있다. 이러한 정보화 사회가 요구하는 인재 양성을 위한 교육 방향의 변화에 맞는 교육은 e-Learning이라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 e-Learning 의 근간이 되는 교수법과 이에 따른 web-book 을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 web-book은 웹을 기반으로 하는 학습이라는 점에서 e-Learning 에 포함될 수 있으며, 특히 학습 정보를 전달하고 교수자와 학습자 상호간에 의사소통을 할 수 있다는 점에서는 e-Learning 의 한 형태라 할 수 있겠다.

Electronic Book(eBook) is a publication that stored and processed the contents of a book using digital mechanisms and has advantages such as easiness in saving and searching and the possibility of carrying. To activate Electronic Book which has the advantages mentioned above, studies on related techniques are required and a development of an editor exclusive for eBooks which is appropriate for eBook structure is still not adequate. In this paper, we design and implement Electronic Book editor providing form-based interface for eBook genre-based structure so that it would be easier for users to write. Especially because Electronic Book has genre-based structure due to the characteristic of literature, it is necessary to provide forms for each different genres. Therefore, compared to the problem of having to study XML grammar when writing Electronic Book using the existing XML editor, the proposed system can solve this problem by providing form-based interface. Additionally, with regard to the characteristic of eBook which have structures according to the intention of users, we provided the flexibility of adding dynamic forms to the form provided in default so that it will be more effective in writing Electronic Books. Therefore by providing form-based interface according to the genre and dynamic structure according to the intention of users, Electronic Book can be wrote more easily.

The purpose of this study is to build a general principle for the automatic book-classification which can be put to use in library operation, and to present a methodology of the automatic classification for the library. Since the enumerative classification scheme which exist as manual systems cannot be a n.0, pplied to the automation of classification, the principles of Colon Classification by S.R. Ranganathan is brought in and studied. The result of the study can be summarized as follows: (1) Automatic book-classification can be performed by the principles of faceted classification. (2) This study presents a general and an a n.0, pplication principles for the automatic book-classification. (3) File design for the automatic book-classification of a general classification is different from that of special classification, (4) The methodology is to classify the literature by inputting the title into a terminal. In addition, the expected Value from the Automatic Book-classification is as follows: (1) The prompt and accurate process of classification is possible. (2) Though a book is classified in any library it can have the same classification number. (3) The user can retrieve the classification code of a book for which he or she wants to search through the dialogue with the computer. (4) Since the concept coordination method is employed, even the representing of a multi-subject concept is made simple. (5) By performing automatic book-classification, the automation of library operation can be completed.
