  • Recently, a health care need according to the increase of an advanced age population is increasing. The requirement about a health care monitoring is increasing rapidly from general people as well as patient. The requisition about a medical treatment technique and a medical treatment information service is the trend to be expanding. That can be possible minimizing the inconvenience of the patient to take a medical service and continuously monitoring the status of the patient to take a health care service. This paper discusses an implementation of wireless physiological signal monitoring system for health care. The system are composed of the sensor node and monitoring program. The sensor node has the physiological signal measurement part and the wireless communication part. The remote monitoring system has a monitoring program that are communicating the sensor node using bluetooth. The sensor node measured the ECG, pulse wave, blood pressure, SpO2, and heart rate.

  • The ventricular assist device(VAD) helps to reduce the overload against the patient's native heart(NH). The pulsatile VAD pumps out the ventricular blood to the aorta with pulsatile flow. If the VAD pulsates simultaneously with the NH, the ventricle of the NH could confronts abnormally elevated aortic pressure, and this could deteriorate the ventricle rather than assist to recover it. Thus counterpulsation algorithms to avoid copulsation have been adopted by many VADs, but these methods utilize electrocardiography or arterial pressure signals, which may have difficulties to acquire consistently for a long period. In this study, the copulsation estimation algorithm for the counterpulsation is developed using the VAD outlet pressure signal. The VAD outlet pressure signal is good to maintain for a long time and the sensor part could be integrated to the VAD as a built-in module. From the VAD outlet pressure signal and its pump rate information calculated with Fast Fourier Transform, pulse peaks by the VAD and the NH were extracted and the next copulsation time at which the VAD and the NH would pulsate simultaneously was estimated. This estimation algorithm was implemented by using PC MATLAB software and tested for various pump rate conditions with mock circulation system. For each condition, the copulsation time was estimated successfully. Consequently, the results showed the possibility to use the outlet cannula pressure signal in the copulsation estimation.

  • Typically, the vital signs that are representing the state of human body, are the body temperature, sphygmus, respiration and blood pressure. The body temperature is the result of metabolic regulation and human steady-state body temperature is maintained from 35.9 to $37.4^{\circ}C$ by heat regulatory center. The body temperature is indicative of infection and especially it should be monitored to requiring intensive care patients or after surgical patients. But, measuring of body temperature to a heavy workload on nursing staff has been recognized. And, the health service of nurse is limited by simple tasks such as the measurement and record of vital sign. In this paper, the body temperature monitoring telemetry system was proposed to prove the recoding and transmission of body temperature patch system according the standard(ISO TS11073-92001). We proposed the transmission protocol to suit the MFER(medical waveform format encoding rules). The telemetry patch system was implemented and it was verified by experiments.

  • In this paper, we proposed the biological signal (body heat, pulse, breathe rate, and blood pressure) analysis system using wireless sensor. In order to analyze, we designed a back-propagation neural network system using expert group system. The proposed system is consist of hardware patt such as UStar-2400 ISP and Wireless sensor and software part such as Knowledge Base module, Inference Engine module and User Interface module which is inserted in Host PC. To improve the accuracy of the system, we implement a FEC (Forward Error Correction) block. For conducting simulation, we chose 100 data sets from Knowledge Base module to train the neural network. As a result, we obtained about 95% accuracy using 128 data sets from Knowledge Base module and acquired about 85% accuracy which experiments 13 students using wireless sensor.

  • A non-intrusive ECG and BCG measurement system is introduced. The system is built on a auxiliary backrest of a chair. The developed system is aimed to non-intrusive assessment of cardiovascular dynamic indices such as pulse arrival time(PAT) and pre-ejection period (PEP). In the system, capacitive active electrodes and capacitive grounding were used for the non-intrusive indirect-contact ECG measurement, and EMFi pressure sensor was used for the non-intrusive BCG measurement. The capacitive active electrodes and the EMFi sensor were attached on the backrest. Using the system, ECG and BCG were successfully acquired. The measured BCG showed peaks that following ECG R peaks. It was shown that the time interval between Q wave in ECG and first peak in BCG correlates Pre-ejection period measured by impedance-cardiogram. The results showed that the introduced system can be used for the non-intrusive various cardiovascular information including ECG, PAT, PEP.

  • In this paper, we propose a downlink power control scheme to apply in the unequal error protection multi-code CDMA mobile medicine system. The mobile medicine system contains (i) blood pressure and body temperature measurement value, (ii) ECG medical signals measured by the electrocardiogram device, (iii) mobile patient's history, (iv) G.729 audio signal, MPEG-4 CCD sensor video signal, and JPEG2000 medical image. By the help of the multi-code CDMA spread spectrum communication system with downlink power control scheme and unequal error protection strategy, it is possible to transmit mobile medicine media and meet the quality of service. Numerical analysis and simulation results show that the system is a well transmission platform in mobile medicine.

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) is performed by artificial ventilation and thoracic compression for the patient under emergent situation to maintain at least the minimum level of respiration and blood circulation for life survival. Good quality CPR requires monitoring respiration. We developed a system for continuous monitoring respirational signal while CPR, using respirational airflow sensor for CPR. Signal extraction circuit obtains pressure signal while CPR. Obtained signal would be performed analog-digital conversion and changed to airflow value by characteristic formula. Single inspiration and expiration were considered a period. Detected valid data were displayed LCD.

  • In this paper, We designed the ECG-NIBP-$SpO_2$ patient monitor. This production can measure Electrocardiograph, Heart Rate, Noninvasive Blood Pressure, and Oxygen Saturation for Noninvasive Mehod and can display each information. These informations were implemented by the electrodes of ECG part, the cuff of NIBP module and the finger probe with light sensor of $SpO_2$ without injection of needle or catheter. In addition, We developed a new analysis algorithm and measurement technique for NIBP and $SpO_2$ to observe patient's conditions correctly.
