  • In this paper, we develop a blind adaptive multiuser detector for synchronous CDMA with a noise-whitened filter. To Improve the symbol error probability performance, Decision-Feedback Blind Adaptive Multiuser Detector(DFBD) is proposed and compared with Blind Adaptive Multiuser Detector(BD). The proposed DFBD is slightly improved.

  • In many medical image devices, dc noise often prevents normal diagnosis. In wireless capsule endoscopy systems, multipath fading through indoor wireless links induces inter-symbol interference (ISI) and indoor electric devices generate impulsive noise in the received signal. Moreover, dc noise, ISI, and impulsive noise are also found in optical fiber communication that can be used in remote medical diagnosis. In this paper, a blind signal processing method based on the biased probability density functions of constant modulus error that is robust to those problems that can cause error propagation in decision feedback (DF) methods is presented. Based on this property of robustness to error propagation, a DF version of the method is proposed. In the simulation for the impulse response of optical fiber channels having slowly varying dc noise and impulsive noise, the proposed DF method yields a performance enhancement of approximately 10 dB in mean squared error over its linear counterpart.

  • One of the premier mechanisms used in extracting unobserved signals from observed mixtures in signal processing is employing a blind source separation (BSS) algorithm. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) techniques are playing a prominent role in the sphere of multicarrier communication. A set of remedial solutions taken to mitigate deteriorative effects caused within the air interface of OFDM transmission with aid of BSS schemes is presented. Four energy functions are used in deriving the filter coefficients. Energy criterion functions to be optimized and the performance is justified. These functions together with iterative fixed point rule for receive signal are used in determining the filter coefficients. Time correlation properties of the channel are taken advantage for BSS. It is tried to remove colored noise and jamming components from themixture at the receiver. Themethod is tested in a slow fading channel with a receiver containing equal gain combining to treat the channel state information values. The importance is that, these are quite low computational complexity mechanisms.

  • In this paper, a novel post processing using Wiener filtering technique is proposed to p rm further interference reduction in FDICA. Using the proposed method, the target signal components are remained with little attenuation while the interference components are drastically suppressed. The results of experiments show that the proposed method achieves a reduction of the residual crosstalk. Compared to the NLMS method, the proposed method has slightly better separation performance in SIR, and even requires much less computational complexity.

  • Blind source separation by independent component analysis (ICA) has applied in signal processing, telecommunication, and image processing to recover unknown original source signals from mutually independent observation signals. Neural networks are learned to estimate the original signals by unsupervised learning algorithm. Because the outputs of the neural networks which yield original source signals are mutually independent, then mutual information is zero. This is equivalent to minimizing the Kullback-Leibler convergence between probability density function and the corresponding factorial distribution of the output in neural networks. In this paper, we present a learning algorithm using information theory and higher order statistics to solve problem of blind source separation. For computer simulation two deterministic signals and a Gaussian noise are used as original source signals. We also test the proposed algorithm by applying it to several discrete images.

  • In this paper, we propose a blind audio watermarking using the tonal characteristic. First, we explain the perceptional effect of tonal on the existed researches and shout the experimental result that tonal characteristic is more stable than other characteristics used in previous watermarking studies against several signal processing. On the base of the result, we propose the blind audio watermarking using the relation among the signals on the frequency domain which compose a tonal masker. To evaluate the sound quality of our watermarked audios, we used the SDG(Subjective Diff-Grades) and got the average SDG 0.27. This result says the watermarking using the perceptional effect of tonal is available from the viewpoint of non-perception. And we detected the watermark hits from the watermarked audios which were changed by several signal processing and the detection ratios with exception of the time shift processing were over 98%. About the time shift processing, we applied the new method that searched the most proper position on the time domain and then detected the watermark bits by the ratio of 90%.

  • The modification of conditional Fuzzy C-Means (CFCM) with Gaussian weights (CFCM_GW) is accomplished for blind equalization of channels in this paper. The proposed CFCM_GW can deal with both of linear and nonlinear channels, because it searches for the optimal desired states of an unknown channel in a direct manner, which is not dependent on the type of channel structure. In the search procedure of CFCM_GW, the Bayesian likelihood fitness function, the Gaussian weighted partition matrix and the conditional constraint are exploited. Especially, in contrast to the common Euclidean distance in conventional Fuzzy C-Means(FCM), the Gaussian weighted partition matrix and the conditional constraint in the proposed CFCM_GW make it more robust to the heavy noise communication environment. The selected channel states by CFCM_GW are always close to the optimal set of a channel even when the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) is heavily corrupted. These given channel states are utilized as the input of the Bayesian equalizer to reconstruct transmitted symbols. The simulation studies demonstrate that the performance of the proposed method is relatively superior to those of the existing conventional FCM based approaches in terms of accuracy and speed.

  • In this paper, the method of processing a blurred noisy signal has been researched. The conventional method of processing signal has faults, which are slow-convergence speed and long time-consuming process at the singular point and/or in the ill condition. There is the process, the Gauss-Seidel's method to remove these faults, but it takes too much time because it processes signal repeatedly. For overcoming the faults, this paper shows a signal process method which takes shorter than the Gauss-Seidel's by comparing the Gauss-Seidel's with proposed algorithm and accelerating convergence speed at the singular point and/or in the ill condition.

  • Unfortunately, the number of blind people increases every 5 seconds in our world. An extensive research was made on improving the conventional walking cane and developing a microcontroller based walking stick for the blind with sensors and a feedback in form of vibration. Two different kinds of sensors are used to detect obstacles, ultrasonic and infrared distance sensors. The signal from an ultrasonic sensor is fed to a microcontroller. With the help of the supporting software, the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) principle is extensively used to form three zones and run the corresponding vibration motor at different spends according to how far the detected object is located. The other infrared distance sensors are connected to amplifiers and after that to their corresponding vibration motors through motor drivers. The vibration motors are to be located around the user's arm to notify the blind of the obstacles in the intended walking way. It can be very reliable and sufficient device guiding the blind other than the conventional walking cane which has many drawbacks which will be explained and discussed.
