This paper deals with the Braille Education System which complements the shortcomings of the existing Braille Learning Products. An application dedicated to the blind is configured to perform full functions through touch gestures and voice guidance for user convenience. Braille kit is produced for educational purposes through Arduino and 3D printing. The system supports the following functions. First, the learning of the most basic braille, such as initial consonants, final consonant, vowels, abbreviations, etc. Second, the ability to check learned braille by solving step quizzes. Third, translation of braille. Through the experiment, the recognition rate of touch gestures and the accuracy of braille expression were confirmed, and in case of translation, the translation was done as intended. The system allows blind people to learn braille efficiently.

This paper is concerned with the performance analysis of a modified stop-and-go generalized multi-modulus algorithm (MSAG-GMMA) adaptive blind equalization algorithm with variable step size. The proposed algorithm multiplies the fixed step size by the error signal of the decision-oriented algorithm in the equalization coefficient update equation, and changes the step size according to the error size. Also, the MSAG-GMMA having a fixed step size is operated so as to maintain a fast convergence speed from a certain threshold to a steady state by determining the error signal size of the decision-directed algorithm, and when the MSAG-GMMA to work To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we use the ensemble ISI, ensemble-averaged MSE, and equalized constellation obtained from the output of the equalizer as the performance index. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has faster convergence speeds than MMA, GMMA, and MSAG-GMMA and has a small residual error in steady state.
In this paper. we propose an adaptive step-size algorithm for the adaptive interference canceller (AIC) in the space-time trellis coded DS-CDMA system. In the AIC, the performance of the blind LMS algorithms that updates the tap-weight vector of the AIC is heavily dependent on the choice of step-size. To improve the performance of the fixed step-size AIC (FS-AIC), the regular adaptive step-size algorithm is extended in complex domain and applied to the joint AIC and ML decoder scheme. Simulation results show that the joint adaptive step-size AIC (AS-AIC) and ML decoder scheme using the proposed algorithm has boner performance than not only the conventional ML decoder but also the joint FS-AIC and ML decoder scheme without much increase of the decoding delay and complexity.

In this paper, we propose MSAG-SCS-MMA-I adaptive blind equalization with double step size with very small residual ISI and MSE at steady-state while significantly improving the convergence speed of the traditional SCS-MMA-I algorithm in 256-QAM system. And we evaluate the equalization performance for this algorithm. Different step sizes according to the absolute value of decision-directed error instead of a fixed step-size are applied to the tap update equation of MSAG-SCS-MMA-I, which is controlled by binary flags of '1' or '0' obtained from SCS-MMA-I and decision-directed algorithms. This makes for excellent equalization performance. As a result of computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm has more better performance than the MMA, SCS-MMA-I, and MSAG-SCS-MMA-I algorithms in terms of the performance index such as residual ISI, MSE, and MD.
In this paper, we resolved a trade-off problem of the blind equalizer based on the stop-and-go algorithm that is commonly used for QAM demodulation in CATV receiver. The stop-and-go algorithm has used the LMS(least mean square) algorithm in the updating operation of tap weights so that the structure of equalizer is simple, but there is a trade-off between convergence speed and steady state error as in the typical LMS algorithm. We used the variable step size algrithm to improve the convergence speed with the steady state error in the constant level. With respect to the same level of the steady state error, the variable step size stop-and-go algortihm improved convergence speed by about $36%{\sim}56%$ as compared with that of the constant step size algortihm.

For blind equalization of communication channels, concurrent equalization is useful to improve convergence characteristics. However, the concurrent equalization will result in limited performance enhancement by continuing concurrent adaptation with two algorithms after the equalizer converges to steady-state. In this paper, to improve the convergence characteristics and steady-state performance of the concurrent equalization, proposed is a new concurrent equalization technique with variable step-size parameter and weight-based tap coefficients update. The proposed concurrent vsCMA+DD equalization calculates weight factors using error signals of the variable step-size CMA (vsCMA) and DD (decision-directed) algorithm, and then updates the two equalizers based on the weights respectively. The proposed method, first, improves the error performance of the CMA by the vsCMA, and enhances the steady-state performance as well as the convergence speed further by the weight-based tap coefficients update. The performance improvement by the proposed scheme is verified through simulations.

In this paper, we propose a new digital blind in-phase/quadrature-phase (I/Q) mismatch compensation technique for image rejection in a direct-conversion receiver (DCR). The proposed image-rejection circuit adopts DC offset cancellation and a sign-sign least mean squares (LMS) algorithm with a unique step size adaptation both for a fast and precise I/Q mismatch estimation. In addition, several performance-optimizing design considerations related to accuracy, speed, and hardware simplicity are discussed. The implementation of the proposed circuit in an FPGA results in an image-rejection ratio (IRR) of 65 dB, which is the best performance with modulated signals, along with an adaptation time of 0.9 seconds, which is a tenfold increase in the compensation speed as compared to previously reported circuits. The proposed technique will be a promising solution in the area of image rejection to increase both the speed and accuracy of future DCRs.
The Korean government has a plan to mandate zero-energy buildings in 2020 for public and 2025 for private buildings. In order to design a zero-energy building, insulation and airtightness, which are the most basic elements of passive house technology, are required, and the government has been accomplished this through step-by-step strengthening of related standards. In passive house with high thermal insulation and airtightness performance, the heat introduced into the building through solar radiation can be stored for a long time to keep the inside warm during winter. On the other hand, during summer, heat introduced into the building cannot be easily released to outside, so it is necessary to actively block solar radiation and high temperature outdoor air to prevent an increase of indoor temperature. Therefore, this study aims to derive an appropriate operation condition of passive house to maintain the indoor temperature at an suitable level according to the ventilation methods and solar shading conditions. As a result, under the conditions that the outdoor temperature was 28℃ or less, the ventilation using a heat recovery ventilation system at daytime and natural ventilation at nighttime were selected for the most appropriate operation method. In addition, in the case of solar shading, it was found that blocking solar radiation at daytime using the blind and open the blind at nighttime to ensure natural ventilation were selected for the most appropriate solar shading condition.

This paper relates with the performance improvement of CCA (Compact Constellation Algorithm) equalization algorithm by adding the adaptive step size control in order to the minimization of intersymbol interference and additive noise effects that is occurs in the channel for digital radio transmissionl. In general, the fixed step size was used in order to adaptation in equalizer algorithm. But in proposed algorithm, the variable step size were adapted that is proposional to the nonlinear function of error signal for equalization. In order to show the improved equalizatation performance, the output signal constellation of equalizer, residual isi, maximum distortion, MSE and SER were used, then it were compared with the present CCA algorithm. As a result of computer simulation, the adaptive step size CCA has more better performance in the every performance index compared to the fixed step size CCA after in the steay state.
This paper deals with an application of adaptive blind source separation (BSS) method, equivariant adaptive separation via independence (EASI), and Teager Energy Operator (TEO) for online identification of structural modal parameters. The aim of adaptive BSS methods is recovering a set of independent sources from their unknown linear mixtures in each step when a new sample is received. In the proposed approach, firstly, the EASI method is used to decompose structural responses into independent sources at each instance. Secondly, the TEO based demodulation method with discrete energy separation algorithm (DESA-1) is applied to each independent source, and the instantaneous frequencies and damping ratios are extracted. The DESA-1 method can provide the fast time response and has high resolution so it is suitable for online problems. This paper also compares the performance of DESA-1 algorithm with Hilbert transform (HT) method. Compared to HT method, the DESA-1 method requires smaller amounts of samples to estimate and has a smaller computational complexity and faster adaption due to instantaneous characteristic. Furthermore, due to high resolution of the DESA-1 algorithm, it is very sensitive to noise and outliers. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been validated using synthetic examples and a benchmark structure.
