  • The powder blasting process has become an important machining technique for the cost effective fabrication of micro devices. This process is similar to sand blasting, and effectively removes hard and brittle materials. A large number of investigations on the abrasive jet machining with such output parameters as material removal rate, penetration and surface roughness have been carried out and reported by various authors. To achieve higher surface roughness, to increase material removal rate and to identify the influence of blasting parameters on the output parameters, we use the taguchi method which is one of the design methods of experiments. We can select process parameters to optimize the blasting process of glass. Experimental results indicate that the taguchi method is useful as a robust design methodology for the powder blasting process.

  • The demand of blasting work in civil engineering work is increasing because of the increasing social infra-structural construction work. The blasting method creates large benefit in regard to the economic aspect and shortening construction period. This method, however, has problems to be solved in respect to the blasting vibration and noise. Blasting vibration and noise have been studied by many workers, regarding to the impact on the structure and human body. This investigation is concerned on the affect of blasting vibration and noise on the animals which is relatively new. In general, animals have inferior mental capacity than human in hearing but have higher sensitivity on the vibration and noise due to blasting. The object of this study is to investigate an appropriate measurement of lessening damage on the animals by vibration and noise due to blasting.

  • Ground vibration generated repeatedly in blasting tunnel excavation sites is known to be one of the major hazards induced by blasting operations. Various studies have been conducted to minimize these hazards, both theoretical and empirical methods using electronic detonator, the deck charge method, the center-cut method among others Among these various existing methods for controlling the ground vibration, in this study, we investigated the cut method. In particular, we analyzed and compared the V-cut method, which is commonly used in tunnel blasting, to the double-drilled parallel method, which has recently been introduced in tunnel excavation site. To understand the rock fragmentation efficiency as well as the ground vibration controllability of the two methods, we performed in-situ field blasting tests with both cut methods at a tunnel excavation site. Additionally, numerical analysis by FLAC3D has been executed for a better understanding of fracture propagation pattern and ground vibration generation by each cut method. Ground vibration levels, by PPVs measured in field blasting tests and PPVs estimated in numerical simulations, showed a lower value in the double-drilled parallel compared with the V-cut method, although the exact values are quite different in field measurement and numerical estimation.

  • Already, VARI-STEM, CAS-BAG, POWER DECK etc. are used by various blasting methods to take the advantage of air decking technology in abroad. This study analyzed the application and the effect of Air ball blasting method in domestic blasting area. It is shown that blasting vibration was showed decrease about $30\~40\%$ and quantities of explosives was shown decrease about $20\~25\%$. Also, in the case of using air ball blasting method, it is found for airblast to be lower than common blasting method.

  • Using Electronic Detonators which is well known for controlling vibration, we have been studying Orchestra Blasting Method, OBM, for many years to transform the unpleasant blasting sound to favorable sound in some job-sites such as tunneling and bench blasting which have to been taken place near some structures needed great care. In this study, we focus on rhythmical sense. First, we acquired individual wave from a shot. With the program named the Program Blasting Wave, PBW, it was analyzed and found that its best delay time was 34ms and 50ms was acceptable. Also, delay time was fitted into the music which was accepted after analyzing the rhythm. As a result, the blasting sound along with the music felt comfortable as if the music was played with base drum.

  • Blasting technology aims to maximize digging efficiency as well as minimize vibration and noise. So, it is key point of blasting technology to raise blasting effect as much as possible and reduce vibration and noise and the design of PLHBM that is the tunnel blasting method having such merit was studied in this paper. PLHBM has the excellent blasting efficiency as it drills the empty hole with high caliber of 250~1,000mm at centre cut, contributes to blasting vibration reduction effect much and can be usefully applied to tunnel blasting sites. So it is judged that it enables the development of tunnel blasting method to be advanced one more step by studying and suggesting the design method of PLHBM.

  • It proceed the trial test by applying blasting system with combination of electronic detonator and non-electric detonator(Supex Blasting Method) for the purpose of preventing the over-break as well as controling the blasting vibration and noisy at the site of Boseong-Imseongri railroad section ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$. As a result of that, the blasting vibration and noisy was measured within the allowable standard of vibration. In conclusion, the combination of electronic detonator and non-electric detonator can not only reduce come construction cost, level of vibration and noisy but also get the prevention effect for Public resentment and minimize the rock-damage through over break control.

  • Ground vibration, sound pressure and fragmentation size were measured at the construction site using the spall blasting method(SBM). nev were analyzed and compared to those or suggested method by the minister of construction and transportation(MOST). Vibration and sound pressure by SBM were slightly smaller than MOST method but fragmentation size were larger.

  • Rock fragmentation with plasma blasting technique has advantageous properties in contrast to the conventional blasting method controlling of flying rocks and ground vibrations, when residents are complaining or surrounding structures stay in protection from blasting operations. The experiences show in urban construction works that the plasma blasting is the most possible method to prevent damages and minimize adverse environmental impacts. The fragmentation energy level is evaluated by numerical simulation using PFC for various drill hole patterns and tested accordingly to get the feasibility. The energy output of plasma blasting system has been improved to a level of 1 MJ, which can break a 2-3 ㎥ granite boulder or 1.5m height bench face. Measurements are carried out to get the ground vibration level and propagation equation, so that control of the blasting operations can be performed more precisely and safely.

  • Nowadays it is tendency to make a remodelling or demolition of old structures with the rapid development of blasting technique. In this treatise it is arranged of improvement procedure of blasting demolition method in korea which was begun since August 1991. Recently, the blasting demolition method has much merits with 60-70% reduction effect of construction period than mechanical demolition method. and so that it has much economical points specially over than 5 storied high buildings. In order to maximalize economical effects of the blasting demolition method, environment safety and recycling, it must be needed. at first to develop the estimating programs against vibration, noise, flying stones, and dust. Also it is required to take a responsibility for using recycling materials after blasting demolition of old structures, and to be invested to advance the blasting demolition techniques.
