Since the blast vibration induced by explosives of the powder possibly provide damage of the nearby structures adjacent to the tunnel, the stability of the nearby structures should be estimated. In this study, the stability of the tunnel based on the allowable peak particle velocity of the structures as well as allowable stress of the structures presented in the concrete structural design standard was estimated with respect to the stress of the concrete lining and axial force of the rockbolt during the blasting operation at the ground surface of the pre-existing tunnel. The analyses were carried out by using $FLAC^{2D}$ which is one of the programs developed based on the finite difference method. The bending compressive stress and shear stress of the concrete lining and axial force of the rockbolt were rapidly increased when the blasting operation was conducted near the tunnel.

Impulsive shooting noise is basically complex phenomenon which contains the linear and non-linear characteristics. For those reasons, numerical analysis of impulsive shooting noise has the difficulties in control of the numerical stability and accuracy on the simulation. In this research, Wave-number Extended Finite Volume Scheme (WEFVS) is applied to the numerical analysis of impulsive shooting noise. In the muzzle blast flow simulation, the generation of the precursor wave and the induced vortex ring are observed. Consequently, blast wave. vortex ring interaction and vortex ring. bow shock wave interaction are evaluated on the shooting process using the accurate and stable scheme. The sound generation in the interactions can be explained by the vorticity transport theorem. The shear layer is evolved behind the projectiles due to the jet flow. In these computations, the impulsive shooting noise is generated by the complex interaction with shooting process and is propagated to the far-field boundary. The impulsive shooting noise generation can be observed by the applications of WEFVS and analyzed by the physical phenomena.

Vibration occur at construction sites due to various causes. Starting from the movement of heavy equipments and construction vehicles, the machine crushing of embedded obstacles and rocks creates not only noise but also vibration. Furthermore, the blasting of rocks tops the other causes. In this paper, the measurements of various vibration occurring at the construction site are made and analyzed to determine the magnitude of vibration upon different sources of vibration. The results showed the relative magnitude of vibration for the site studied.

Bonding strength of shotcrete is a significant influential factor which plays the role of collapse prevention of tunnel crown and of debonding prevention of shotcrete induced by the blasting vibration. Thus, the evaluation of the shotcrete bonding state is one of the core components for shotcrete quality control. In this study, the peak particle velocities induced by blasting were measured on the shotcrete in a tunnel construction site and its effect on the bonding state of shotcrete is investigated. Drilling and blasting technique was used for the excavation of intersection tunnel connecting the main tunnel with the service tunnel. Blast-induced vibrations were monitored at some points of the main tunnel and the service tunnel. The shotcrete bonding state was evaluated by using impact-echo test coupled with the time-frequency domain analysis which is called short-time Fourier transformation. Analysis results of blast-induced vibrations and the time-frequency domain impact-echo signals showed that the blasting condition applied to the excavation of intersection tunnel hardly affects on the tunnel shotcrete bonding state. The general blasting practice in Korea was evaluated to have a minor negative impact on shotcrete quality.

By comparing test blasting data experimented in three layered-structure polymorphic grounds to a geological profile, influence of blast vibration with respect to uncontrollable ground characteristics was analyzed. Inefficient blast have been performed without sufficient verifications or confirmations because insufficiencies with regard to experiments and data of blasting engineering on the layered structures to be irregularly repeated clinker layer consisted of volcanic clastic zones. It is difficult to quantify N values of clinkers within test blasting region because they have diverse ranges, or coverages. An absolute value of attenuation coefficient N in a field, estimated by blasting vibration predictive equation (SRSD), are lesser than criteria of a design instruction, meaning that vibrations caused by blast can spread far away, and the vibrational characteristics of blasting test No.1, indicating relatively small values, inferred by the geological profile, pressures of gas by the explosion may be lost into a widely distributed clinker layers by penetrating holes resulted from blast into vicinity of clinker layers located in bottom of soft rock layers at the moment of blast. As a result, amounts of spalling rocks are decreased by almost half. Also, ranges of primary frequencies in the fields are identified as similar to those of natural frequency of typical structures.

In this paper, numerical analysis with varying distance and burial depth was performed to recommend the blasting vibration control standard for pre-insulated pipes. The blasting load model applied in the numerical analysis was verified to the comparison with the results of the field tests. It was determined from the results of the numerical analysis that the effective stress either exceeds or approaches the allowable stress of the inner steel pipe for vibration velocity greater than 4.0cm/sec while stability is obtained for vibration velocity below 4.0cm/sec. Therefore, it was determined that the blasting vibration control criteria for pre-insulated pipes must not exceed 4.0cm/sec.
In order to identify the characteristics of the propagation depending on delay time (20, 25 ms) and priming location (top priming, middle priming, bottom priming), test blasts were carried out a total of 4 times using different spacing, burden, drilling length, charge per delay and was derived the formula to predict blast vibration. This study investigated the characteristics of vibration by analysis of the nomogram and prediction of Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) from delay time and priming location by the formula to predict ground vibration. And it analyzed the trends of vibration increase by standards charge 0.5, 1.6, 5, 15 kg. Standards charge is "Blasting design and construction guidelines to road construction" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Depending on the charge in favor of vibration control method is proposed. Thus, when the design was to be used as a variable.
Safe blast criteria based on the concept of scaled distances can be obtained from the statistical analysis on measured peak particle velocity data of blast vibrations. Two types of scaled distance widely used in Korea are the square root scaled distance (SRSD) and cube root scaled distance (CRSD). In contrast to SRSD scheme, however, the function of maximum charge per delay for CRSD increases without bound after the intersection point of these two functions despite of the similar goodness of fits. To prevent structural damage that may be caused by the excessive charge in the case of CRSD, it is suggested that CRSD be used within a specified distance slightly beyond the intersection point. On the other hand, there are several attempts that predict vibration level(VL) from the peak particle velocity(PPV) or estimate VL based on the scaled distances without considering their frequency spectra. It appears that these attempts are conducted in blasting contracts only for the purpose of satisfying the environment-related law, which mainly deals with the annoyance aspects of noises and vibrations in human life. But, in principle there could no correlation between peaks of velocity and acceleration over entire frequency spectrum. Therefore, such correlations or estimations should be conducted only between the waves with the same or very similar frequency spectra. Finally, it is a known fact that structural damage due to ground vibration is related to PPV level, the safety level criteria for structures should be defined by allowable PPV levels together with their zero crossing frequencies (ZCF).

Various vibration caused by construction vehicles and equipment movement, rock blasting, and crushing obstacle occurs inevitably in construction sites. In this study, we measured the impact of vibration by blasting rock at construction sites, rock crushing, concrete crushing. The measuring instrument was installed in adjacent buildings and observed that blasting vibration differs depending on the charge weight, blasting distance, and the measuring position. The observation was maintained by allowable peak particle velocity standard according to each standards and references.

This study presents the influence of blasting-induced vibration on the adjacent structures in rocks of various RMR values. 3D finite element analysis was performed to simulate the behaviour of tunnel and adjacent structures during rock excavation. The blast loadings were evaluated from the blasting pressure which is depending on the type and amount of explosive charges. Influencing factors for the stability of adjacent structures and ground conditions were reviewed in terms of structural dimensions and RMR values. The stiffness and load of adjacent structures are modeled in the numerical analysis to Investigate blasting effects of the size of adjacent structures. The vibration velocity and maximum particle velocity was increase sharply when the RMR value changed from 30 to 50. The effect of particle velocity was minimized at the width of structure become 2 times of tunnel diameter.
