  • In this paper, the new algorithm for blind adaptive decorrelating parallel interference canceller detector in direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) synchronous communication systems is proposed. The goal of this paper is to improve the performance of the blind adaptive decorrelating parallel interference cancellation detector (BAD/PIC). The proposed blind adaptive decorrelating detector is using optimum step-size technique bootstrap algorithm as an initial stage of PIC, which does not require a training sequence. Therefore, this algorithm has a superior view of utilizing bandwidth and reduces the complexity of computation of inversion cross-correlation matrix. The computer simulation results show that the bit error rate performance of the proposed algorithm for the new structure of detector is better than that of the other detectors such as matched filters, the conventional PIC, and the blind adaptive decorrelating PIC detector.

  • This paper proposes an 8${\times}$8 bit parallel multiplier using MOS current-mode logic (MCML) circuit for low power consumption. The proposed circuit has a structure of low-power MOS current-mode logic circuit with sleep-transistor to reduce the leakage current. The sleep-transistor is used to PMOS transistor to minimize the leakage current. Comparing with the conventional MOS current-model logic circuit, the circuit achieves the reduction of the power consumption in sleep mode by 1/50. The designed multiplier is achieved to reduce the power consumption by 10.5% and the power-delay-product by 11.6% compared with the conventional MOS current-model logic circuit. This circuit is designed with Samsung 0.35 ${\mu}m$ standard CMOS process. The validity and effectiveness are verified through the HSPICE simulation.

  • This paper describes an implementation of a single phase PWM ac/dc converter whose control scheme can be directly applied to the rectification of ac traction system. Power circuit using self-commutated switching devices(GTO) provides input power factor correction with dc voltage regulation. Effective compensation of load variations and line disturbance can be accomplished by real time instantaneous control of ac input current and dc link voltage using 32 bit floating point DSP. Parallel operation of two converters reduces the input line current ripple. Experimental results of the two parallel converter system are shown in the 20KW range for the verification of the system.

  • A study on architecture of new parallel interference canceller which can be applied for reverse link of next generation mobile communication system supporting multi-rate is performed on this paper. The proposed method adopts new algorithm which can be applied for multi-rate system to reduce multiple access interference (MAI) which cause performance degradation of CDMA system and limit of channel capacity. The proposed system is evaluated by simulation results under various conditions. As a result, performance enhancement is achieved compared to existing conventional interference cancellers. Although the amount of calculation is increased, we can find that the performance is improved generally.

  • HIGHT is an 64-bit block cipher, which is suitable for low power and ultra-light implementation that are used in the network that needs the consideration of security aspects. This paper presents a key scheduler that employs the presented LFSR and reverse LFSR that can generate four outputs simultaneously. In addition, we construct new key scheduler that generates 4 subkey bytes at a clock since each round block requires 4 subkey bytes at a time. Thus, the entire HIGHT processor can be controlled by single system clock with regular control mechanism. We synthesize the HIGHT processor using the VHDL. From the synthesis results, the logic size of the presented key scheduler can be reduced as 9% compared to the counterpart that is employed in the conventional HIGHT processor.

  • This paper proposes a non-systolic parallel $AB^2+C$ Computing unit based on irreducible AOP order m of $GF(2^m)$. Proposed circuit have only AND gates and EX-OR gates, composes of cyclic shift operation, multiplication operation power operation power-sum operation and addition operation using a merry irreducible AOP. Suggested operating a method have an advantage high speed data processing, low power and integration because of only needs AND gates and EX-OR gates. $AB^2+C$ computing unit has delay-time of $T_A+(1+[log^m_2])T_X$.

  • The increase of additional information broadcasting of TV demands a graphic overlay processor. This paper is about the design, implementation and testing of a graphic overlay processor called by KBPS decoder ASSP (Applicatio n Specific Standard Product) which is compliance with Korea Broadcast Programming System. KBPS decoder ASSP consists of embedded 8 bit microprocessor Z80, graphic overlay controller, KBPS schedule decoder, memory controller, priority interrupt controller, MIDI controller, infrared raccoon receiver, async scrial communication controller, timer, bus controller, universal parallel input-output port and serial-parallel interface. The 0.8 micron CMOS Sea of Gate is used to implement the ASSP in amount of about 31,500 gates, and it is running at 14.318MHz.

  • In this paper we propose an architecture for VLC(Variable Length Coder) and VLD(Variable Length Decoder) which is simple with respect to implementation point and efficient in memory. We implemented encoding and decoding circuit where we need only 7-bit address memory space for 114 MPEG1 DCT coefficients and employed minimal number of flip-flops and logics for an architecture to integrate a shift register for serial-to-parallel or parallel-to-serial conversion of the data in code mapping ROM. We obtained 50Mbps operating speed in both encoding and decoding process as the result of simulation using 0.80.8${\mu}m$ CMOS standard cells.

  • In this paper, we propose and present implementation results of a high-speed turbo decoding algorithm. The latency caused by (de) interleaving and iterative decoding in a conventional maximum a posteriori(MAP) turbo decoder can be dramatically reduced with the proposed design. The source of the latency reduction is come from the combination of the radix-4, dual-path processing, parallel decoding, and rearly-stop algorithms. This reduced latency enables the use of the turbo decoder as a forward error correction scheme in real-time wireless communication services. The proposed scheme results in a slight degradation in bit-error rate(BER) performance for large block sizes because the effective interleaver size in a radix-4 implementation is reduced to half, relative to the conventional method. Fixed on the parameters of N=212, iteration=3, 8-states, 3 iterations, and QPSK modulation scheme, we designed the adaptive high-speed turbo decoder using the Xilinx chip (VIRTEX2P (XC2VP30-5FG676)) with the speed of 17.78 Mb/s. From the results, we confirmed that the decoding speed of the proposed decoder is faster than conventional algorithms by 8 times.

  • The partial product matrix of a parallel squarer are symmetric about the diagonal. To reduce the number of partial product bits and the depth of partial product matrix, it can be typically folded, shifted and bit-rearranged. In this paper, an efficient design approach for the combined squarer, capable of operating on either unsigned or signed numbers based on a mode selection signal, is presented. By simulations, it is shown that the proposed combined squarers lead to up to 18% reduction in area, 11% reduction in propagation delay and 9% reduction in power consumption compared with the previous combined squarers.
