고온 초전도 SMES용 전도냉각시스템 특성시험 (Test of the Conduction Cooling System for HTS SMES)

  • The characteristic of the superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES) system is faster response, longer life time, more economical, and environment friendly than other uninterruptible power supply(UPS) using battery. So, the SMES system can be used to develop methods for improving power quality where a short interruption of power could lead to a long and costly shutdown. Recently, cryogen free SMES has developed using BSCCO(Bismuth Strontium Calcium Copper Oxide) wire. We fabricated and tested the conduction cooling system for the 600 kJ class HTS SMES. The experiment was accomplished for the simulation coils. The simulation coils were made of aluminium, it is equivalent to thermal mass of 600 kJ HTS SMES coil. The coil is cooled with two GM coolers through the copper conduction bar. In this paper, we report that the test results of cool-down and heat loads characteristics of the simulation coils. The developed conduction cooling system adapted to 600 kJ HTS SMES system and cope with the unexpected sudden heat impact, too.

Fabrication of $CeO_2$ Buffer Layer Using MOD Process

  • Biaxially textured Ni was fabricated by electrodeposition process and delaminated from the biaxially textured cathode surface for further buffer layer deposition process. Those electrode posited Ni substrates showed well-developed biaxial texture and smooth surface. In order to improve the thermal stability of Ni substrates, Mn was alloyed by adding Mn precursor into the electrodeposition bath. Subsequently, $CeO_2$ buffer layers are deposited by MOD process to prevent interfacial reaction between superconductor and substrates. In particular, Bismuth oxide was added to $CeO_2$ to realize lower temperature processing of buffer layers. The microstructure and texture development of each layers have been investigated. Preliminary results shows that all electro/chemical process can be a candidate for cost effective route to YBCO coated conductor.

산화물 환원공정에 의해 제조된 Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 분말의 열전특성 (Thermoelectric Properties of Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 Powder Synthesized by an Oxide-Reduction Process)

  • The present study focused on the synthesis of Bi-Te-Se-based powder by an oxide-reduction process, and analysis of the thermoelectric properties of the synthesized powder. The phase structure, chemical composition, and morphology of the synthesized powder were analyzed by XRD, EPMA and SEM. The synthesized powder was sintered by spark plasma sintering. The thermoelectric properties of the sintered body were evaluated by measuring its Seebeck coefficient, electrical resistivity, and thermal conductivity. $Bi_2Te_{2.7}Se_{0.3}$ powder was synthesized from a mixture of $Bi_2O_3$, $TeO_2$, and $SeO_2$ powders by mechanical milling, calcination, and reduction. The sintered body of the synthesized powder exhibited n-type thermoelectric characteristics. The thermoelectric properties of the sintered bodies depend on the reduction temperature. The Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity of the sintered body were increased with increasing reduction temperature. The sintered body of the $Bi_2Te_{2.7}Se_{0.3}$ powder synthesized at $360^{\circ}C$ showed about 0.5 of the figure of merit (ZT) at room temperature.

친환경 차폐물질을 이용한 이중구조 차폐체의 설계 (Design of Double Layer Shielding Structure using Eco-friendly Shielding Materials)

  • 최근 납의 대체물질로서 연구되고 있는 바륨(Ba)과 요오도(I) 등은 차폐능은 우수하지만, 30 keV 근처의 에너지 영역에서 특성 X선이 방출되는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 황산바륨($BaSO_4$)과 산화비스무스(BiO)로 구성된 친환경 이중차폐체의 적용가능성을 검증하기 위한 선행연구로 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통해 투과스펙트럼, 차폐율 등을 평가하였다. 평가결과, 0.6mm 두께의 Pb 단일층과 비교하여 0.1 mm 두께의 $BaSO_4$ 하부층에 BiO 층의 두께가 0.4 mm 와 0.5 mm에서는 각각 차폐율이 1.9 %, 3.9 % 높은 성능을 보였다. 뿐만 아니라, 상대적인 중량 또한 각각 34.5 %, 28 % 경량화가 가능하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

치근단 형성술(Apexification)에 있어서 MTA(Mineral Trioxide Aggregate)의 적용 (CLINICAL APPLICATION OF MTA(MINERAL TRIOXIDE AGGREGATE) FOR APEXIFICATION)

  • 소아환자에 있어 외상성 손상은 미완성된 치근의 발육을 방해할 수 있다. 미완성된 치아의치수가 괴사된 경우 근관은 완전히 세척되어져야 한다. 그러나 apical stop이 부족하고 얇고 부서지기 쉬운 치수벽 때문에 적절한 apical seal을 얻기 위해서는 치근단 형성술을 시행해야 한다. 지금까지 수산화 칼슘이 치근단 형성술의 선택약제가 되어왔다. 그러나, 수산화칼슘을 이용한 치근단 형성술은 치료시기가 다양하고, apical closure도 불확실하며, 환자 follow up이 어렵고, 치료가 늦어지는 한계가 있다. 이에 인공적인 apical barrier를 형성시켜 근관의 즉각적인 충전을 할 수 있는 MTA(Mineral Trioxide Aggregate, DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental, U.S.A)를 이용하였다. MTA는 tricalcium silicate, tricalcium aluminate, tricalcium oxide와 silicate oxide와 같은 친수성 입자로 구성된다. 또한 소량의 mineral oxide와 bismuth oxide powder를 포함한다. MTA는 경화후 pH가 수산화칼슘 또는 $Ca(OH)_2$와 유사한 12.5로 항균작용을 지닌다. 용해도가 낮고, 상아질보다 약간 더 큰 방사선 불투과성을 보인다. 또한 다른 재료들보다 미세누출이 상당히 적고 다른 재료들보다 경조직 형성 능력이 뛰어나다. 본 증례는 전북대학교 소아치과에 외상으로 인해 치근단이 미완성된 미성숙 영구치의 치근단 형성술을 위해 내원한 환아에 대해 MTA를 적용하여 양호한 결과를 얻었기에 이에 보고하는 바이다.

Si 및 SrTiO3 기판 위에 증착된 Bi4Ti3O12 박막의 결정구조 및 배향에 따른 강유전 특성 (Ferroelectric Properties of Bi4Ti3O12 Thin Films Deposited on Si and SrTiO3 Substrates According to Crystal Structure and Orientation)

  • Ferroelectric $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ films were deposited on $SrTiO_3(100)$ and Si(100) substrate by using conductive $SrRuO_3$ films as underlayer, and their ferroelectric and electrical properties were investigated depending on crystal structure and orientation. C-axis oriented $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ films were grown on well lattice-matched pseudo-cubic $SrRuO_3$ films deposited on $SrTiO_3(100)$ substrate, while random-oriented polycrystalline $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ films were grown on $SrRuO_3$ films deposited on Si(100) substrate. The random-oriented polycrystalline film showed a good ferroelectric hysteresis property with remanent polarization ($P_r$) of $9.4{\mu}C/cm^2$ and coercive field ($E_c$) of 84.9 kV/cm, while the c-axis oriented film showed $P_r=0.64{\mu}C/cm^2$ and $E_c=47kV/cm$ in polarizaion vs electric field curve. The c-axis oriented $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ film showed a dielectric constant of about 150 and lower thickness dependence in dielectric constant compared to the random-oriented film. Furthermore, the c-axis oriented $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ film showed leakage current lower than that of the polycrystalline film. The difference of ferroelectric properties in two films was explained from the viewpoint of depolarization effect due to orientation of spontaneous polarization and layered crystal structure of bismuth-base ferroelectric oxide.

철심과 권선을 이용한 전류제한기에 적용시킨 안정화층이 다른 YBCO Coated Conductor의 전류제한 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Current Limiting Characteristics of YBCO Coated Conductor with Different kinds of Stabilization Layer Applied to SFCL Using Iron Core and Coil)

  • The yttrium-barium-copper-oxide (YBCO) coated conductor, which supplement the fault of the existing superconducting current-limit materials YBCO thin film, bismuth-strontium-calcium-copper-oxide(BSCCO) wire and bulk, has been improved its mechanical weakness and has high index; hence, after quench YBCO coated conductor could limit the fault current effectively because of fast resistance occurrence speed. Furthermore, it has wide applicable area as an current limit material because it shows different resistance occurrence tendency by the thickness and kind of stabilization material sputtered on the superconducting layer. Therefore, many researchers are carrying out the study of application of YBCO coated conductor to superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) for making high quality current limit element, based on resistance type. On the other hand, the study for other type except resistance type has been rarely conducted for the application of YBCO coated conductor to SFCL as an current limit element. Consequently, in this study, YBCO coated conductor with different stabilization layer Cu and Stainless steel, is applied to SFCL using iron core and coil, and examine the many index points as an current limit element, such as current limit characteristic, the tendency of resistance occurrence, response time, the temperature trend for stability.

X-Ray Diffraction Analysis of Various Calcium Silicate-Based Materials

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the composition of the crystal phases of various calcium silicate-based materials (CSMs): ProRoot white MTA (mineral trioxide aggregate) (WMTA), Ortho MTA (OM), Endocem MTA (EM), Retro MTA (RM), Endocem Zr (EN-Z), BiodentineTM (BD), EZ-sealTM (EZ), and OrthoMTA III (OM3). Methods: In a sample holder, 5 g of the powder sample was placed and the top surface of the material was packed flat using a sterilized glass slide. The prepared slides were mounted on an X-ray diffraction (XRD) instrument (D8 Advance; Bruker AXS GmbH, Germany). The X-ray beam 2θ angle range was set at 10~90° and scanned at 1.2° per minute. The Cu X-ray source set to operate at 40 kV and 40 mA in the continuous mode. The peaks in the diffraction pattern of each sample were analyzed using the software Diffrac (version 2.1). Then, the peaks were compared and matched with those of standard materials in the corresponding Powder Diffraction File (PDF-2, JCPDS International Center for Diffraction Data). A powder samples of the materials were analyzed using XRD and the peaks in diffraction pattern were compared to the Powder Diffraction File data. Results: Eight CSMs showed a similar diffraction pattern because their main component was calcium silicate. Eight CSMs showed similar diffraction peaks because calcium silicate was their main component. Two components were observed to have been added as radiopacifiers: bismuth oxide was detected in WMTA, OM, and EM while zirconium oxide was detected in RM, EN-Z, BD, EZ, and OM3. Unusual patterns were detected for the new material, OM3, which had strong peaks at low angles. Conclusion: It was caused by the presence of Brushite, which is believed to have resulted in crystal growth in a particular direction for a specific purpose.

(Bi,Nd)(Fe,Ti)O3 세라믹스와 박막의 상형성 거동 (Phase Evolution Behavior of (Bi,Nd)(Fe,Ti)O3 Ceramics and Thin Films)

  • Nd and Ti co-doped bismuth ferrite $(Bi_{1-x}Nd_x)(Fe_{1-y}Ti_y)O_3$ (x, y = 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2) ceramics and thin films were synthesized through the conventional mixed-oxide process and pulsed laser deposition (PLD), respectively. Nd and Ti co-doping effect was examined with emphasis on how these impurities affect phase formation behavior as there could be the improvement in leakage current problems often associated with multiferroic $BiFeO_3$ (BFO) thin films. The lattice constants of BFO ceramics decreased with Nd doping concentration up to 10mol%, while they further decreased with Nd and Ti co-doping to about 20%. BFO thin films obtained by the PLD process revealed random polycrystalline structure. Similar to bulk BFO ceramic, Nd and Ti co-doping effectively suppressed the formation of unwanted secondary phase and thus stabilized the perovskite phase in BFO thin films.

Synthesis of Bi2WO6 Nanometer Sheet Shaped and Approach to the Photocatalysis

  • For use as a photocatalyst, bismuth tungsten oxide, $Bi_2WO_6$, was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal treatment at pH = 11 and heating at 200 ${^{\circ}C}$ for 24h, and samples were subsequently thermal treated at 400, 600, and 800 ${^{\circ}C}$ to increase crystallinity. TEM results revealed that the initial untreated particles were sheet‐shaped, grain size was below 80 nm, and it increased with treated temperatures. These $Bi_2WO_6$ samples absorbed at around 400 nm in the visible light range and the intensity of absorption was particularly strongest in samples thermal treated at 600 ${^{\circ}C}$. Their photoluminescence abilities, related to the recombination between the excited electrons and holes, were overall small for other general photocatalysts such as TiO2, and the smallest in the case of thermal treatment at 600 ${^{\circ}C}$, as reversible result of UV‐visible absorbance. Methyl orange of 5.0 ppm aqueous solution was almost completely removed after 2 h when treated over the $Bi_2WO_6$ thermal treated at 600 ${^{\circ}C}$.
