  • Clinical and epedemiologic studies of coronary heart disease(CHD)have from time to time over the last three decades found associations between prevalence of CHD and behavioral attributes and cigarette smoking. The main purpose of this study is reduced to major risk factor of coronary heart disease through prohibition of smoking and control of behavior pattern. The subjects consisted of 120 smokers and 90 non-smokers who were married men older than 30 years working in officers. The officers were surveyed by means of questionnaire September 26 through October 6, 1989. The Instruments used for this study was a self-administered measurement tool composed of 59 items was made through modifications of Jenkuns Activity Survery(JAS). The Data were analysed by SAS(Statistical Analsis System) program personal computer. The statistical technique used for this study were Frequency, x$^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The 15 items were chosen with items above 0.3 of the factor loading in the factor analysis. In the first factor analysis 19 factors were extracted and accounted for 86% of the total variance. However when the number of factors were limited to 3 in order to derive Jenkins classification, three factors were derived. There names are Job-Involvement, Speed & Impatience, Hard-Driving. Each of them includes 21 items, 21 and 9, respectively. The results of this study were as follow : 1. The score of the smoker group and non-smoker group in Job-Involvement(t=5.7147, p<0.0001), Speed & Impatience(t=4.6756, p<.0001), Hard-Driving(t=8.0822, p<.0001) and total type A behavior pattern showed statistically significant differences(t=8.1224, p<.0001). 2. The score of type A behavior pattern by number of cigarettes smoked daily were not statistically significant differences. 3. The score of type A behavior pattern by duration of smoking were not significant differences. It was concluded that the relationship between smokers and non - smokers of type A behavior pattern was statistically significant difference but number of cigarettes smoked daily and duration of smoking were not significant differences. Therefore this study is needed to adequate nursing intervention of type A behavior pattern in order to elevated to educational effect for prohibition of cigarette smoking.

  • Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of two representative subway map design types, namely a diagram type and a geographical type using physiological metrics, performance metrics, and self-reported metrics, which are representative usability metrics. Background: Subway maps need to be designed in order for users to quickly search and recognize subway line information. Although most cities' subway maps currently use the diagram type designed by Henry Beck, New York City's subway map has recently been changed to the subway map type combined with the geographical type designed by Michael Hertz. However, not many studies on its efficiency are found, and the studies that are available mainly depend on questionnaire surveys or take on a subjective behavioral study type based on experts' experiences. In this regard, evaluation through a more objective method is needed. Method: This study employed usability metrics as a method to evaluate the efficiency of information search targeting the diagram type and geographical type subway maps used mostly as subway maps. To this end, physiological metrics obtained through eye tracking, task completion time, representative metric of task performance, and subjective evaluation metrics were used for the suitability evaluation of subway map designs. Results: In the result of gaze movement distance analysis, no significant difference was shown in the two design types in terms of a process finding a departure station from the starting point and a process finding a transfer station between the departure station and arrival station (destination). However, the gaze movement distance in the process finding the arrival station at the departure station was significantly shorter in the geographical type, rather than in the diagram type. The analysis of task completion time showed a result similar to the gaze movement distance analysis result. Task completion time was significantly shorter in the geographical type, rather than in the diagram type, which is in the process finding the arrival station at the departure station. In other information search processes, no significant difference was shown. As a result of subjective evaluation metrics analysis, no significant difference was revealed in the two design types. Conclusion: An analysis on the two representative subway map design types was carried out via the adoption of usability metrics. As a result, although no significant difference was shown in some information search processes, it was revealed that information search was easier in the geographical type overall. Also, it was found that usability metrics can be effectively used to evaluate the design types of subway maps. Application: The study results can be used to set design direction to offer ease in information search on subway lines. The study also can be used as a method to evaluate a subway map's design type.

  • Gliding motility is defined as the movement of nonflagellated cells in the direction of its long axis on a solid surface and found in many phylogenetically diverse bacteria. Genetic, biochemical, ultrastructural, and behavioral studies have provided a wealth of information related to the mechanism of possible gliding apparatuses. Social motility of Myxococcus xanthus and the gliding of Synechocystis appear to rely on the function of type IV pili, similar to twitching motility of pseudomonas aeruginosa and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. In contrast, adventurous motility of M. xanthus and the gliding of filamentous cyanobacteria and Flavobacterium are not dependent on the pili. Instead, they appear to employ novel motility mechanisms that are currently being unveiled.

  • There are two broad classes of user studies, in terms of their purposes or a n.0, pplications. One class might be termed basic studies, in which the purpose is to create or obtain knowledge regarding information needs and uses with no particular a n.0, pplication. The second type of study might be termed a n.0, pplied. The aim of second type is preparing standards to evaluate and improve existing information systems or to design new systems. The trends of user study tend toward basic research from a n.0, pplied ones. Furthermore, not only the broad-based studies change with special setting up and subdivided studies, but also the scopes of user study vary social scientist, human scientist, and even common users from limited natural scientists and technologists earlier. The aims of this paper is to summarize continuously pointed problems of user studies and to survey the state of the arts by reviewing the trends of user studies. The major problems of user studies are terminology, conceptualization, and methodology. These terms are essential to this study, and very important to decide the research fields and to select a method of survey, respectively. And in order to predict the user needs, studies of 'information needs' are inevitable instead those of 'information demands' which principally studied till nowadays. On the other hand, to reduce the problems of user studies, it is needed more qualitative studies ever than before and cooperation with other areas, for example, behavioral 'science, psychology, communication science and so forth.

  • Utilization of fiber beam-column element has gained considerable attention in recent years due mainly to its ability to model distributed plasticity over the length of the element through a number of integration points. However, the relatively high sensitivity of the method to modeling parameters as well as material behavior models can pose a significant challenge. Residual drift is one of the seismic demands which is highly sensitive to modeling parameters and material behavior models. Permanent deformations play a prominent role in the post-earthquake evaluation of serviceability of bridges affected by a near-fault ground shaking. In this research, the influence of distributed plasticity modeling parameters using both force-based and displacement-based fiber elements in the prediction of internal forces obtained from the nonlinear static analysis is studied. Having chosen suitable type and size of elements and number of integration points, the authors take the next step by investigating the influence of material behavioral model employed for the prediction of permanent deformations in the nonlinear dynamic analysis. The result shows that the choice of element type and size, number of integration points, modification of cyclic concrete behavior model and reloading strain of concrete significantly influence the fidelity of fiber element method for the prediction of permanent deformations.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to analize a psychological and behavioral mechanism for using profile picture management in digital service such as social network service. Profile picture management falls under metadata management and is performed only by those who want it. This means that it, is one of the typical makeup-type digital shadow works (DSWs) which have not been studied yet. Design/methodology/approach This study adopts ground theory method(GTM) as research methodology. GTM, which is one of qualitative methodologies, is for developing theories while most survey based methodologies, which are well adopted in much research for information systems, are for validation of theories. By interviewing ten users, the data are collected and analyzed by open coding, axis coding with paradigm model, and selective coding. Findings In result, 39 codes are found and classified into 29 sub classes and 15 classes. These 15 classes are organized by paradigm model which derives core code of profile picture management as 'voluntary management tasks to experience small pleasures with intermittent attention'. Finally, based on the paradigm model and the core code, the story line, which can explain profile picture management, is suggested.

  • This study aimed to provide directions and implications for a future program by analyzing studies on diabetes programs from 2000 to 2020. Among the studies with control and experimental groups, the selected studies included ones that provided intervention to patients with diabetes and ones that contained descriptive statistics. Sixteen studies were selected to verify the effectiveness and homogeneity of the data coding meta-analysis. The overall effect size in the diabetes program combined estimate was 0.398 (95% CI: 0.268, 0.425, p=0.000). Among the dependent variables, fasting blood glucose (-0.616) and glycated hemoglobin (-0.442) showed median effect sizes, but the effect of fasting blood glucose was not statistically significant. In terms of the study design, non-randomized control trials (NRCTs) (-0.543) was more effective than randomized control trials (RCTs) (0.719). Among, the counseling and self-management program (-3.241) showed a very large effect size. Furthermore, the cognitive-behavioral (-0.828) and self-management (-0.482) programs were also found to have a positive effect on lowering fasting blood glucose. As the importance of diabetes management increases, further studies based on RCT should be actively performed, and differentiated and specialized diabetes intervention plans need to be established.

  • LPG-related accidents, which account for half of all gas accidents in Korea, have not shown any sign of decrease over the past decade, partially owing to the lack of effective safety improvement measures. The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of improvement measures by analyzing the traits of accidents in terms of human factors, and to seek more effective accident prevention strategies. In this study, 108 accident cases were collected and analyzed in the aspect of accident characteristics such as violation type, human factors, and so on. The results showed that the work procedures of suppliers and engineers related to LPG accidents seemed to be similar in outward appearance; however, specific accident causes and unsafe behaviors were different. Particularly, type and target of violations were different, which could be visually confirmed by the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and the Quantification Techniques (QT). Furthermore, for engineers, insufficient supervision was a major influencing factor. In conclusion, because the accident characteristics of suppliers and engineers are different, differentiated accident prevention strategies should be implemented, which was discussed in this study.
