  • This study investigates changes in the mechanical behavior, such as changes in indentation load-displacement curve, wear resistance and contact fatigue resistance of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) by thermal cycling test and thermal shock test. Relatively dense and porous TBCs on nickel-based bondcoat/superalloy are prepared; the highest temperature applied during thermal durability test is $1350^{\circ}C$. The results indicate that the porous TBCs have relatively longer lifetime during thermal cycling and thermal shock tests, while denser TBCs have relatively higher wear and contact fatigue resistance. The mechanical behavior is influenced by sintering of the TBCs by exposure to high temperature during tests.

  • Polymer concrete using wastes PET recycled resin that is, in general, more excellent mechanical properties than portland cement concrete. A lot of works are carried out about short-term properties of polymer concrete, however, little work has done to define their long-term properties, that is, sustain load such as creep. In this study will show the data that can long-term behavior of polymer concrete by short term creep test of polymer concrete that was affect to the temperature and the time to predict to long-term creep behavior. Then prediction equation was similar tendency that was comparing to short-term creep test and long-term creep test.

  • In this paper centrifuge model tests and numerical analysis on the coastal structure on the marine deposits of sand were performed to investigate the behavior of structure and foundation under the condition of wave action in field. In centrifuge model experiments, construction sequence of coastal structure such as preparation of sand deposit, excavation replacement, rubble mound with crushed stones and installment of coastal structure was reconstructed and the behavior of ground settlement during stage of construction was observed during tests. For the final stage of simulating the horizontal movement of coastal structure due to wave force, horizontal load was applied by horizontal loading apparatus being specially designed so that horizontal displacement of structure could be observed. Numerical analysis were also carried out and its results were compared with test results to assess the property of centrifuge mode experiments with respect to the behavior of structure as well as ground.

  • The rupture of blood vessels in the human brain results in serious pathological and medical problems. In particular, brain hemorrhage and hematomas resulting from impact to the head are a major cause of death. As such, investigating the tensile behavior and rupture of blood vessels in the brain is very important from a medical point of view. In the present study, the tensile characteristics of the blood vessels in the human brain were analyzed using a quasi-static uniaxial tensile test, and the properties of the arteries and veins compared. In addition, to compare the tensile behavior and demonstrate the validity of the experimental results, blood vessels from the legs of pigs were also tested and analyzed. The overall results were in accordance with the histological structures and previous medical reports.

  • Since fatigue cracks in rail can be the source of fractures and subsequent derailments, quantitative evaluation of the fatigue behavior and fracture properities due to the analysis results of laboratory test are drawn on the basis for predicting fatigue life and making a decision of safe inspection interval. Charpy V-notch and fracture toughness behavior were evaluated from the results of Charpy impact test. Fatigue test was performed by using CT type specimen under constant amplitude loading, and finally the effects of the following parameters; crack orientation, temperature, and stress ratio, on the fatigue crack growth behavior were studied.

  • The structural behavior of the members using recycled coarse aggregate is investigated in this papers. The members considered this study are subjected to shear ad bending simultaneously. A series of test beam specimens using recycled coarse aggregate is made for the structural test. These specimens are manufactured using the concrete for the compressive strength of 280kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ with recycled aggregate ratio of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% of total aggregate volume, respectively. The main object of this test is to investigate the influence of the using recycled aggregate to the cracking strength of the member subjected to flexure and shear and the post cracking behavior.

  • Aluminum based metal matrix composites(MMCs) are well known for their high specific strength, stiffness and hardness. They are gaining further importance because of their high wear resistance. In this study, Al/Saffil-20%, Al/Saffil-5%/Al2O3(particle type)-15% and Al/Saffil-5%/SiC(particle type)-15% hybird MMCs' wear behavior were characterized by the pin-on-disk test under various normal load The superior wear resistance was exhibited at Al/Saffil-5%/SiC(particle type)-15% MMCs. And this MMCs' predominant wear mechanism is subsurface cracking in the low load wear regime. Others(Al/Saffil-20%, Al/Saffil-5%/Al2O3(particle type)-15%) showed the similar wear resistance with each other at the same test condition. In the low load & room temperature condition, the wear resistance was improved due to the high hardness of the ceramic reinforcements. As the test load increased, the wear properties were governed by the wear properties of matrix.

  • An important factor of rough road modeling is analyzing the shear behavior properties of the rough road. These properties influence the drawbar pull of the tool when interacting with the soil used in agriculture. Furthermore, shear behavior properties are important because sinkage and shear stress are generated when wheels drive on rough roads. In this study, we performed a direct shear test to investigate the shear behavior properties of soils and compare with the direct shear simulation; shear force derived by the coupled analysis of discrete element method; and multi-body dynamics. Soil contact parameters were measured in a wheel and soil contact simulation followed by comparison of the simulated and experimentally measured shear force.

  • The purpose of this explanatory study was to provide baseline information on the secondary prevention health behavior of cervical cancer in Korea which was related to the utilization of the Papanicolaou (Pap) smear screening test. The secondary data from the 1992 Korean Health Behavior Survey was used for analysis in order to determine sociodemographic profiles and the predictor variables. The sample analyzed for this study contained 1,489 Korean women residing in Korea aged 20-59 selected by multi-stage sampling method from the 1990 Korean census. Univariate, bivariate, and logistic regression analysis were performed to produce the findings of this study. Only 27.9% of the study sample had had a Pap test in 1992. It was found that the relative sociodemographic profiles of the Pap test between users and non-users were distinctive. The predictors variables were age, marital status, educational status, usual source of care, perceived household economic status, health check-up, and presence of chronic diseases

  • The general concept of reinforced roadbed in the high-speed railway is to cope with the soft ground for the bearing capacity and settlement of foundation soil. The cyclic plate load tests were performed to determine the behavior of reinforced ground with multiple layers of geogrid underlying by soft soil. With the test results, the bearing capacity ratio, elastic rebound ratio, subgrade modulus and the strain of geogrids under loading were investigated. Based on these plate load tests, laboratory model tests under cyclic loading were conducted to estimate the effect of geogrid reinforcement in particular for the high-speed rail roadbed. The permanent settlement and the behavior of earth pressure in reinforced roadbed subjected to a combination of static and dynamic loading are presented.
