This is to investigate the physical properties of the commercially available Soft, Thomas, Minerva, and Philadelphia cervical braces which are widely used in orthopedics, neurosurgery, and rehabilitation medicine clinics as assisting devices or physical stabilization of cervical vertebrates, to use as a basic data or designing new type brace. Tensile strengths were observed by universal mechanical measuring device and Thomas brace required the highest stress to break by tensile stress. Durabilities against continuous frictional forces were also determined, and Minerva brace demonstrated the longest frictional time until being perforated. and Thomas/minerva braces are superior to the other braces in the effect of the material property on the skin tissue, as the animal test. According to these results, polyethylene is recommendable as a frame and preparation of pores in the material is favorable to provide ventilation to skin.

The white-light-emitting organic LED with two-wavelength was fabricated using blue emitting material(DPVBi) and a series of orange color fluorescent dye(Rubrene) by vacuum evaporation processes. The basic structure of white-light-emitting OLED was ITO/NPB(150$\AA$)/DPVBi(150$\AA$)/Alq$_3$:Rubrene(150$\AA$)/BCP(100$\AA$)/Alq$_3$(150$\AA$)/Al(600$\AA$). The changes of the CIE coordiante strongly depended on the doping concentration of Rubrene and the thickness of NPB layer. We obtained the white-light-emitting OLED close to the pure white color light and the CIE coordinate of the device was (0.315, 0.330) at applied voltage of 13V when the doping concentration of Rubrene was 0.5wt% and the thickness of NPB layer is 200$\AA$. At a current of 100mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$, the quantum efficiency was 0.35%.

In ultra-high-strength concrete, autogenous shrinkage is larger than dry shrinkage due to the consume of a large amount of cement and cementitous material, and this is a factor deteriorating the quality of structures. Thus, we need a new technology for minimizing the shrinkage strain for ultra-high-strength concrete. So, this paper have prepared super-high-strength concrete with specified mixing design strength of over 150MPa and have evaluated a method of reducing autogenous shrinkage by utilizing expander and shrinkage-reducing agent. According to the results of this study, with regard to the change in length by autogenous shrinkage, an expansion effect was observed until the age of seven days. The expansion effect was higher when the contents of the expander material were higher. In addition, ultra-high-strength concrete showed a shrinkage rate that slowed down with time, and the effect of the addition of expander material on compressive strength was insignificant. That is shown that required more database to be accumulated through experimental research for the shrinkage strain of members.

The chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process has been widely used to obtain global planarization of multilevel interconnection process for ultra large scale. integrated circuit applications. Especially, the application of copper CMP has become an integral part of several semiconductor device and materials manufacturers. However, the low-k materials at 65nm and below device structures because of fragile property, requires low down-pressure mechanical polishing for maintaining the structural integrity of under layer during their fabrication. In this paper, we studied electrochemical mechanical polishing (ECMP) as a new planarization technology that uses electrolyte chemistry instead of abrasive slurry for copper CMP process. The current-voltage (I-V) curves were employed we investigated that how this chemical affect the process of voltage induced material removal in ECMP of Copper. This work was supported by grant No. (R01-2006-000-11275-0) from the Basic Research Program of the Korea Science.
The number of newly constructed traditional Korean houses, i.e., Hanoks, and light-frame buildings is increasing. However, related research is limited owing to the lack of awareness regarding safety evaluations. Therefore, this study conducted an outdoor exposure test to accurately evaluate wooden constructions. Spruce, pine, and fir (SPF) material was monitored for a year, wherein the SPF material was artificially dried under 18% moisture content, and its physical properties and color differences were measured once a month. Large differences were observed in the material's weight and moisture content, which are indexes sensitive to daily range and rainfall; however, no significant difference was found for other basic properties in the pre and post test results. Herein, $L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ values represent color differences; these values exhibited a general decrease after the test. Such differences were attributed to the loss of lignin in the wood. The color difference value was high between the months of May and July, when the daily range and rainfall significantly fluctuated. Multiple regression analysis was performed on the $a^*$ value (redness indicator), daily range, rainfall, and ultraviolet index. The results indicated that the daily range influenced redness the most. According to the estimated regression equation, the daily range and redness are positively correlated. Based on the results, the types and influence of independent variables on color difference are expected to change as the wood's duration of outdoor exposure and the amount of data obtained both increase.

This study aimed to improve utilization of the Class C vinyl waste generated in rural areas based on a preliminary investigation on the use of eco-powder, generated through pyrolysis, as a raw material for plastic. The efficiency of pre-processing treatments in controlling ash content of the generated eco-powder and its effect on the basic properties of manufactured plastic were evaluated. The basic properties included ash content of the compressed eco-powder at different levels of ash content, impact strength, flexural strength, and tensile strength. The experimental results confirmed that pre-processing improved the separation efficiency of soil particles and vinyl waste through physical impact. The eco-powder with ash content of less than or equal to 26% was found to satisfy the target performance during impact strength, flexural strength, and tensile strength evaluation. Thus, it was confirmed that the Class C vinyl waste, having low utilization and recovery rates, could be effectively utilized as a plastic raw material after optimum thermal treatment and physical processing using the eco-powder.
The methods to improve the protection and explosion-proof performance of concrete structures include the backside reinforcement or concrete material property improvement and the addition of structural members or supports to increase the resistance performance, but they are inefficient in terms of economics and structural characteristics. This study is about the basic study on the fiber composite panel cover, and the nano-composite material and adhesive as the filler, to maximize the specific performance of each layer and the protection and explosion-proof performance as the composite panel component by improving the tensile strength, light weight, adhesion and fire-proof performances. The fiber composite panel cover (aramid-polyester ratios of 6:4 and 6.5:3.5) had a 2,348 MPa maximum tensile strength and a 1.8% maximum elongation. The filler that contained the nano-composite material and adhesive had a 4 MPa maximum tensile shear adhesive strength. In addition, the nano-composite filler was 30% lighter than the normal portland cement
At present, the sand mat method is actively used for improvement of soft ground. But, there are some problems related with sand mat which has been used as a way to accelerate consolidation settlement. First of all, insufficiency of sand due to imbalances in market supply and demand is the one of the biggest problems, which makes price high of sand and delays a term of total construction work. Moreover, it is necessary to preserve integrity of environment from natural disruption caused by indiscreet quarrying and dredging operation to supply sand for soil improvement construction site. This paper presents the feasibility study to use of Precious Slag Ball instead of sand mat as the replacing material through the basic soil property tests, the medium of discharge capacity test and analysis of settlement property. It is also evaluates the performance of Precious Slag Ball as a sand mat in terms of discharge capacity, ground settlement by the K-Embank program based on field experimental work.
This study is to evaluate the objective sensibility of the commercial lining fabrics. Five kinds of the linings were collected by adding taffetas with four kinds of fibers (polyester, nylon, rayon, and acetate) to one polyester stretch fabric. The six basic mechanical and hand properties were studied by using KES-FB system (Kawabata Evaluation System). The result of measuring the mechanical properties shows that polyester has high bending rigidity (B), that polyester-stretch has a high value of linearity of load-extension curve (LT), tensile energy (WT), tensile resilience (RT), and coefficient of friction (MIU) and a low value of bending rigidity(B), shear property, and geometrical roughness (SMD). The nylon has a high value of bending rigidity (B), shear property, and compression resilience (RC). The rayon has a high value of coefficient of friction (MIU) and linearity of compression-thickness curve (LC) and a low value of shear property, and the acetate has a low value of shear property. The result of hand value shows that polyester, nylon, and acetate are a high value of KOSHI (stiffness), NUMERI (smoothness), and FUKURAM (fullness & softness), and they feel stiff and massive, that rayon has a low value of NUMERI and FUKURAMI. The total result of hand value shows that polyester taffeta and polyester stretch fabric are about the same as the best material for the lining of a woman's dress for spring and summer, and the next thing is acetate, but nylon and rayon are somewhat inferior materials. This provides a fundamental data for the comfortable clothing production of a higher value-added product through the study on the mechanical and hand properties of the lining as well as the right side of fabrics.
