이 논문에서는 한국과 일본의 초등 예비교사들이 가지고 있는 천문학 기초개념에 대한 이해 정도와 천문학에 대한 태도를 조사하여 비교하였다. 천문학 기초개념 및 지식은 1998년에 천문교육연구협의회(The Collaboration for Astronomy Education Research, CAER)에서 개발한 천문학진단검사지(Astronomy Diagnostic Test, ADT ver.2.0)의 21문항에서 한일 양국의 중등학교 교육과정을 고려하여 선정한 12개 문항을 양국의 언어로 번안하여 투입하였다. 천문학 기초개념 및 지식에 대한 검사문항의 신뢰도는 0.69이었다. 천문학 태도에 대한 검사는 제일릭 등(Zeilik et at., 1999)이 개발한 천문학태도조사지(the Survey of Attitudes Towards Astronomy, SATA)를 그대로 번역하여 사용하였다. 신뢰도는 0.87이었다. 조사 결과 천문학 기초개념에 대한 한국의 예비교사들의 정답률은 38%이었고 일본은 37%이었지만, 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 없었다. 천문학에 대한 태도에서는 한국의 초등 예비교사가 일본보다 높았다. 특히 천문학에 대한 인지적 능력과 가치의 범주는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다(p<.05). 이 연구를 통해 부가적으로, 한국과 일본의 초등 예비교사들의 가진 천문학 기초개념이 지식의 수준이 40%, 미만이었으며, 천문학에 대한 태도 점수가 미국의 대학생들에 비하여 상당히 낮다는 점을 발견할 수 있었다.

Environmentally literated students and adults should be able to use and apply the basic ecological concepts when considering environmental problems and issues. Because ecology forms the foundation of environmental education, a review of the literatures on the degree of students' understanding for ecological concepts can provide useful insights for environmental educators. The purposes of this study were as follows: first, to analyse the parts connected with ecological knowledge of two environmental education books, ‘environments’(middle school) and ‘environmental science’(high school), second, to investigate the level of understanding on ecological concepts by the use of new developed instrument. The 20 most important ecological concepts from Cherrett(1989) and the important ecological concepts' lists from Hungerford and Volk(1990), Ramsey, Hungerford and Volk(1992), Volk(1993) would be recognized and endorsed by most environmental educators as concepts essential to environmental literacy, We referenced these informations and sequenced ecological knowledge as four main categories(communities, populations, ecosystem, man as a component of the nature systems). We have used it as a criterion in the analysis of teaching materials and the development of a new test instrument($\alpha$=0.81). According to the analysed results, the understanding levels for scales and relationships of communities, populations, ecosystem were high but those for individual concepts and differences were low. By the analysis of Korean High School EE book, ‘environmental science’, learning for some concepts(succession, material cycling, niche etc.) has pointed out as one of problems. Environmental educators must pay a careful attention to the concepts that showed high rates of incorrect answer and this work will contribute toward consolidating the basis of EE and help the accomplishment of the ultimate goals in EE.

The maxillofacial soft tissue trauma is one of the major causes to visit the emergency room. For the past few decades, however, the basic concept of the repairing the soft tissue wound have not been changed. Therefore, it could be worthwhile to remind the fundamental concepts and practical information belong to the soft tissue injury management. Among the many types of soft tissue trauma, laceration wound which is most frequently met in the clinic will be discussed in this review.

The present paper investigates about the formation of the logical thinking and the intuitive thinking in mathematical concepts with reference to secondary talented students (students aged 16$\sim$17 years). As a main result, we conclude that their preference between the logical and the intuitive thinking does not related to the distinction of the school level and sex, while their consistence between them relates.

As the level of technology and the standard of living improve, product reliability plays an Increasingly significant role. This study has been performed to build a reliability model of electronic ballasts for the low wattage fluorescent lamp. Telcordia SR-332, one of the most widely used reliability specifications, was selected for the model development. We briefly reviewed the basic concepts of the electronic ballast. We then developed a reliability model for the ballast using SR-332 concepts and the reliability has been examined.

There are some concepts that could achieve Near-Field Recording (NPR). One of concepts is the use of the flying head with Solid Immersion Lens (SIL). The basic concept of this is almost same with that of Hard Disk Drive (HDD). This study presents the flying characteristics of the slider for NFR. Numerical simulations are performed using FEM and Broydon-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno (BFGS) method. Some modifications are considered to improve flying characteristics of the slider.

In this paper, we consider the existence of solutions to some generalized vector quasi-equilibrium-like problem under a c-diagonal quasi-convexity assumptions, but not monotone concepts. For an example, in the proof of Theorem 1, the c-diagonally quasi-convex concepts of a set-valued mapping was used but monotone condition was not used. Our problem is a new kind of equilibrium problems, which can be compared with those of Hou et al. [4].

The problems of determining appropriate QOS(Quality of service) requirements of B-ISDN services and finding the corresponding NP(Network Performance) values satisfying the given QOS requirements are very important problems which are directly related to the successful operation of the ATM network, but have not been studied with enough attention yet. The QOS(NP) parameter definition, QOS measurements, and QOS managements are three major problems that should be solved. In this paper, we first introduce the basic concepts of QOS and NP and their relationships. Then we discuss more comprehensive concepts of QOS based on the layered structure of ATM services and the reference time, which can provide a systematic approach for QOS and NP mapping problems. We also provide examples of determining basic QOS(NP) parameters in the ATM layer and a specific example of QOS mapping based on the file transfer in ATM. The results of this paper can be used to establish the comprehensive QOS management model.
