  • A mobile station in a cell receives interference signals from neighboring base stations. Due to the interference signals, the forward link capacity of the cellular system is reduced. Pilot signal received from a neighboring base station is one of the interference signals. Since the pilot signal is a known signal for all the mobile stations, the pilot interference signal can be cancelled by interference cancellation techniques. In this paper, we propose a demodulator with interference canceller to cancel pilot interference signals received from neighboring base stations. The simulation results show that Eb/No value to obtain BER = 10-2 is lowered by 3㏈ in the propose demodulator.

  • In this paper, an automatic system of locating the indoor area with weak or no mobile signal was proposed and demonstrated experimentally by using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Nowadays, the technicians of mobile services providers need to go along with numerous heavy equipment to measure and record the mobile signal strength at outside environment. Recently, there are systems proposed to do such measurement at outdoor area by using the IoT technology automatically. However, these works could not be applied in the indoor area since there are difficulties to do the indoor mapping and positioning. In this work, the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) was used to tackle these two difficulties. After a proper placement of BLE in the testing site, while the technician walk around with a handheld analyzer, the data can be obtained accordingly for further analysis in the proposed system which includes the construction of floor plan, detection of mobile signal strength and suggestion of indoor base stations. The gift wrapping and centroid algorithms were used during the analysis. The experimental results showed that the proposed system successfully demonstrated the indoor mapping, positioning of weak mobile signal area and suggestion of indoor base stations for the normal rectangular rooms with an area of 100 m2 on single floor.

  • CoMP(Coordinated Multi-Point transmission and reception) refers to a cooperative transmission strategy to control the interference from adjacent base stations in cellular mobile communication systems, which efficiently enhances the data throughput of the systems. As the number of the base stations participating in cooperative transmission increases, however, a larger amount of information exchange to carry the CSI(Channel State Information) of the mobile terminals is required. In this paper, we propose a partial CoMP transmission method for systems under the constraint of finite feedback information data. This method selects candidates of base stations which can provide high efficiency gain when they participate in the CoMP set. To achieve this, the cooperative base station combination is constructed by considering the preferred base stations of users. The cooperative base station combinations are dynamically applied since the preferred base station combinations of users may be different. We perform computer simulations to compare performance of the non-CoMP, full-CoMP and partial CoMP in terms of the average throughput using finite feedback and demonstrate the performance improvement of the proposed method.

  • In a wireless multicasting when a mobile host moves to the new bate station being in the same multicast group it needs to exchange information about data delivery between base stations to receive data from the new base station at once. However it is inefficient to use the existence schemes because it takes too much time to exchange information and many overheads. The next, a mobile host moving to the base station not being in the same multicast group, the old base station will pre-forward data to neighboring base stations to avoid transmission delay. However, if other mobile hosts move at short interval, the old base station may retransmit the same data to the same neighboring base stations. In this paper we proposed called Information Exchange Scheme (IES). In IES in the same multicast grope the base stations exchange information locally so it takes the minimum time and overheads to use IES. Also in IES the neighboring base stations delay to delete data for continuous moving of other MHs. We also present how our scheme is efficient by producing cost ad simulating.

  • The location of inspection stations is a significant component of production systems. In this paper, a prototype expert system is designed for deciding the optimal location of inspection stations. The production system is defined as a single channel of n serial operation stations. The potential inspection station can be located after any of the operation stations. Nonconforming units are generated from a compound binomial distribution with known parameters at any given operation station. Traditionally Dynamic programming, Zero-one integer programming, or Non-linear programming techniques are used to solve this problem. However a problem with these techniques is that the computation time becomes prohibitively large when t be number of potential inspection stations are fifteen or more. An expert system has the potential to solve this problem using a rule-based system to determine the near optimal location of inspection stations. This prototype expert system is divided into a static database, a dynamic database and a knowledge base. Based on defined production systems, the sophisticated rules are generated by the simulator as a part of the knowledge base. A generate-and-test inference mechanism is utilized to search the solution space by applying appropriate symbolic and quantitative rules based on input data. The goal of the system is to determine the location of inspection stations while minimizing total cost.

  • We consider a cell edge environment. In cell edge, a user interfered by signal which is generated by a base stations not including the user. In cell edge environment, that is, there are inter cell interference (ICI) as well as multi user interference (MUI). Coordinated multi-point transmission (CoMP) is a technique which mitigates ICI between base stations. In CoMP, therefore, base stations can coordinate with each other by sharing user state information (CSI) in order to mitigate ICI. To improve sum rate performance in CoMP, each base station should generate optimal user group and transmit data to users selected in the optimal user group. In this paper, we propose a user selection algorithm in CoMP. The proposed method use signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) as criterion of selecting users. Because base station can't measure accurate SINR of users, in this paper, we estimate SINR equation considering ICI as well as MUI. Also, we propose a user selection algorithm based on the estimated SINR. Through MATAL simulation, we verify that the proposed method improves the system sum rate by an average of 1.5 ~ 3 bps/Hz compared to the conventional method.

  • Owing to the intermittent power generation of renewable energy sources (RESs), future wireless cellular networks are required to reliably aggregate power from retailers. In this paper, we propose a distributed power allocation (DPA) scheme for base stations (BSs) powered by retailers with heterogeneous RESs in order to deal with the unreliable power supply (UPS) problem. The goal of the proposed DPA scheme is to maximize our well-defined utility, which consists of power satisfaction and unit power costs including added costs as a non-subscriber, based on linear and quadratic cost models. To determine the optimal amount of DPA, we apply dual decomposition, which separates the master problem into sub-problems. Optimal power allocation from each retailer can be obtained by iteratively coordinating between the BSs and retailers. Finally, through a mathematical analysis, we show that the proposed DPA can overcome the UPS for BSs powered from heterogeneous RESs.

  • In this paper we deal with a cell planning issue arisen in a CDMA based multicast network. In a CDMA based wireless network, a terminal can significantly reduce the bit error rate via the cohesion of data streams from multiple base stations. In this case, multiple base stations have to be operated according to a common time line. The cells whose base stations are operated as such are called soft-combined cells. Therefore, a terminal can take advantage of error rate reduction, if the terminal is in a soft-combined cell and at least one neighboring cell is also soft-combined. However, as soft-combining operation gives heavy burden to the network controller, the limited number of cells can be soft-combined. Our problem us to find a limited number of soft-combined cells such that the benefit of the soft-combining operation is maximized.

  • CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is a promising air interface technique for digital cellular systems. The soft handoff between base stations is one of many important features of CDMA for the mobile stations crossing the cell boundaries. The service areas of MSC's (Mobile Switching Centers) are defined as the unions of the service areas of the base stations connected to MSC's and are assumed to have hexagonal shapes. An analytical approach to the performance analysis of the link between MSC's for supporting the inter-MSC soft handoff scheme will be developed to obtain the probability that a soft handoff to an adjacent MSC will be blocked due to the shortage of the link capacity. Also, the rate of new connection establishments that are requested by the mobile stations moving to the service area of an MSC according to the inter-MSC soft handoff scheme will be obtained.

  • The probabilistic model was developed to give a spatial simlation of precipitation series to solve the problem of future need of water resources. The simulation of daily precipitation series at the sub-base stations was induced from the spatial structure of rainfall occurrence probability between the base station and the sub-base stations in the watershed. In this study Hadong was chosen as the base station in Seomjin river basin and Imsil, Boseong, Soonchang, Dongbok, and Gurye were also selected as the sub-base stations. The results of this study are as follows; 1) The separation technique of spatial precipitation state showed effectiveness in the spatial simulation method because the occurrence probability by each precipitation state (Wet-Wet, Dry-Wet, Wet-Dry, and Dry- Dry system) represented the stable value. 2) The daily precipitation series of the sub-base stations which were simulated from those of the base station showed that the simulated annual mean precipitations were similar to the observed data, but the precipitations in summer were decreased slightly. 3) The correlogram and power spectrum of the simulated monthly precipitation for the sub-base stations showed those of the observed sample with good agreement.
