방풍통성산(防風通聖散)이 아토피 피부염을 유발한 동물모델의 피부 손상에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Bangpungtongsungsan Extract to the Skin Damage on Mice Model after Atopic Dermatitis Elicitation)

  • Objectives : Atopic dermatitis has a close relationship with damage of skin barrier function. To investigate the effects of Bangpungtongsungsan(BT) extract to the skin damage on mice model after atopic dermatitis elicitation, this study was done through forcing injury to mice's skin. Methods : The BALB/c mice were distributed into three groups: control(CON) group, atopic dermatitis(AD)-elicited group, Bangpungtongsungsan(BT)-treated group. AD-elicited and BT-treated group were caused AD according to the method of Christophers E., Mrowietz and Minehiro. The BT extract was administered for 48 hours to BT-treated group. We observed changes of external dermal formation, eosinophils in vasculature, lipid formation in stratum corneum, distribution of ceramide, distribution of capillary, $I{\kappa}B$ kinase(IKK) and induce nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) mRNA expression. We used the statistical methods of student t-test(p<0.05). Results : After dispensing BT extract into the AD-elicited group, the number of eosinophil as an atopic index in mice noticeably decreased and dermal injury decreased. Also the decrease of hyperplasia, degranulated mast cells, angiogenesis and substance P were shown. The lipid lamellae, lipid protect formation, were repaired and the distribution of ceramide which inhibit protein kinase C(PKC) activation increased, and the PKC caused inhibition of nuclear $factor(NF)-{\kappa}B$ activation. As a result of inhibition of $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation, iNOS production were inhibited and apoptotic cell were increased. Moreover the decrease of IKK and iNOS mRNA expression in BT-treated RAW 264.7 cell were noted. Conclusion : BT mitigated skin damage on mice model after atopic dermatitis elicitation through recovering skin barrier function and inhibiting nuclear $factor(NF)-{\kappa}B$ activation.

  • A differential game theory based approach is used to develop an automated maneuver generation algorithm for Within Visual Range (WVR) air-to-air combat of unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs). The algorithm follows hierarchical decisionmaking structure and performs scoring function matrix calculation based on differential game theory to find the optimal maneuvers against dynamic and challenging combat situation. The score, implying how much air superiority the UCAV has, is computed from the predicted relative geometry, relative distance and velocity of two aircrafts. Security strategy is applied at the decision-making step. Additionally, a barrier function is implemented to keep the airplanes above the altitude lower bound. To shorten the simulation time to make the algorithm more real-time, a moving horizon method is implemented. An F-16 pseudo 6-DOF model is used for realistic simulation. The combat maneuver generation algorithm is verified through three dimensional simulations.

  • A two-dimensional treatment of the potential distribution under the depletion approximation is presented for poly-crystalline silicon thin film transistors. Green's function approach is adopted to solve the two-dimensional Poisson's equation. The solution for the potential distribution is derived using Neumann's boundary condition at the silicon-silicon di-oxide interface. The developed model gives insight into device behavior due to the effects of traps and grain-boundaries. Also short-channel effects and drain induced barrier lowering effects are incorporated in the model. The potential distribution and electric field variation with various device parameters is shown. An analysis of threshold voltage is also presented. The results obtained show good agreement with simulated results and numerical modeling based on the finite difference method, thus demonstrating the validity of our model.

  • A Pd-SiC Schottky diode for detection of hydrogen gas operating at high temperature was fabricated. Hydrogen-sensing behaviors of Pd-SiC Schottky diode have been analyzed as a function of hydrogen concentration and temperature by I-V and ${\Delta}I$-t methods under steady-state and transient conditions. The effect of hydrogen adsorption on the barrier height was investigated. Analysis of the steady-state kinetics using I-V method confirmed that the atomistic hydrogen adsorption process is responsible for the barrier height change in the diode.

  • 원자력발전소에서 방화벽 관통부 내화충전구조는 화재가 발생장소 이외의 구역으로 전파되는 것을 차단하여 타구역에 설치된 안전에 중요한 기기를 보호하는 중요한 구성요소이다. 그러나 국내 장기 가동중 원전의 경우 관통부 충전구조의 내화성능을 입증하는 인증시험서가 구비되어 있지 않아 별도의 내화성능평가가 이루어져야 하고, 성능평가 결과가 적정 내화등급을 만족하지 못하는 관통부에 대해서는 관통물질의 재배치 둥의 구조변경이 이루어져야 한다 본 연구는 분석적인 방법에 의한 관통부 충전구조의 내화성능 평가기법을 정립하고. 분석적인 방법을 적용하여 실제 발전소에 설치된 관통부 충전구조의 내화등급을 결정하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이를 통하여 분석에 의한 관통부 충전구조의 내화성능평가방법은 내화인증시험서가 없는 국내 장기가동 원자력발전소에 효율적으로 적용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • 피부 표피의 장벽 구조는 신체 내부의 수분 손실을 방지하고 외부의 이물질의 침입을 막는데 핵심적인 구조이고 각질세포와 세포간 지질로 구성된다. 이 때, 피부 장벽의 세포간 지질은 orthorhombic 구조로 패킹되어있을 때 가장 강한 구조를 가지고 있다. 그러나 다양한 외부 원인에 의해 손상되어 hexagonal 구조로 변화한다. 이런 물리적인 구조의 변화는 FT-IR을 이용하여 지질의 CH2-CH2 scissoring band의 시그널은 분석하여 비 침습적으로 분석 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 SDS를 Porcine skin에 처리하여 피부 장벽 손상모델을 구축하고 FT-IR signal을 분석하여 패킹구조의 변화 정도를 수치화 하였다. 이후 화장품 제형의 처리에 따라서 손상 모델의 장벽 회복 여부를 판단하였다. 이를 통하여 기존의 피부 장벽의 수분 증발량을 분석하는 간접적인 측정 방식을 보완할 수 있다. 또한, 피부 장벽 구조의 물리적인 변화를 직접적이고 효율적으로 분석하는 방식으로 활용 가능하여 다양한 소재의 기능 규명과 제형의 검증에 사용될 수 있다.

  • Joints created with concrete construction result in serious weakness from the aspects of both structural and water-barrier function. Several case studies for the inspection of construction joints of column in concrete structure using radar. An analysis method based on radar signal processing using convolution technique is carried out with various patterns of joints in concrete. The computed results were verified by comparing the test results. As a result, radar signal analysis proposed in this study has a possibility of estimating patterns of joints with good accuracy.

  • We investigated change of the electronic structure, chemical states and elements ratio in graphene film by using photoelectron spectroscopy (PES). The graphene electrode has attracted considerable interest due to its possible applications in flexible organic light emitting diodes (F-OLEDs). However, to use the graphene for OLEDs, sufficient increase of work function is required, that is related with hole injection barrier. Plasma treatment is one of the most widely used method in OLEDs to increase the work function of the anode such as indium tin oxide (ITO). In this work, we used the plasma treatment, which is generated by various gas types such as O2, and Ar to increase the work function of the graphene film. From these results, we discuss the relation among the change of work function, plasma power, plasma treatment time and gas types.

인참양영탕(人參養榮湯)이 장기간 고용량 스테로이드 투여 hairless mice의 피부장벽에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Insamyangyoung-tang on the TEWL of High Dose Steroid Injected Hairless Mice)

  • Objective : The side effect of prolonged use of topical corticosteroids to skin is well-known. Moreover, resent studies have shown that prolonged use of systemic corticosteroids also negatively impacts skin barrier function. Corticosteroids have a major role in the practical management of many variable conditions. So, it is important to find the drug or the method which could protect the skin from the damage caused by corticosteroids. At former study, we investigated that Insamyangyoung-tang has some effect on skin barrier function of DNCB induced contact dermatitis hairless mice. So, this study was performed to research the effect of Insamyangyoung-tang on the TEWL with high dose steroid injected hairless mice. Method : Hairless mice were divided into 4 groups ; Control group, Group A, Group B and Group C. All groups were injected triamcinolone O.4mg for 10 times. Control group was medicated distilled water during the experimental period. Group A was medicated distilled water for 5 days before the $1^{st}$ injection day, and then medicated Insamyangyoung-tang extract during the experimental period. Group B was medicated Insamyangyoung-tang extract for 5 days before the $1^{st}$ injection day, and then medicated distilled water during the experimental period. Group C was medicated Insamyangyoung-tang extract for 5 days before the $1^{st}$ injection day, and then medicated Insamyangyoung-tang extract during the experimental period. TEWL of each group was measured for 5 times. After the $10^{th}$ injection, the tissue sample was made and the damage of epithelial cell was examined. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05 by using non parametric methods and repeated-anova.. Results : Group C showed significant effect on TEWL change of hairless mice evoked by triamcinolone injection. Group A and Group B also showed some effect, but there was no statistical significance.

개에서 피부세정제 적용빈도가 정상피부에 미치는 영향 (Functional Assessment of Frequency of a Commercial Shampoo for Normal Canine Skin)

  • Canine skin is a highly dynamic organ that is constantly adapted to changes in its environment. It provides structural, sensory, immunologic, and physiologic functions and contributes an essential barrier function against potential environmental insults. We assessed the changes of canine skin hydration, pH, and protein contents by noninvasive method according to the frequency of application with canine commercial shampoo. Canine commercial shampoo was applied topically every other day, 5 days, and 8 days on different sites, respectively in 8 dogs. Saline-applied site was as a control. Skin hydration was increased and skin surface pH was decreased significantly in canine commercial shampoo-applied site every other day (p < 0.05). Also, skin protein concentration measured by D-squame$^{(R)}$ tape stripping method was increased significantly in canine commercial shampoo-applied site every other day (p < 0.05). There were alterations on every 5 days and 8 days, but not significantly. These results may be recognized that the frequent use of canine commercial shampoo cause abnormalities of the skin barrier function and alteration of stratum corneum integrity/cohesion. Consequently it was suggested that bathing the dog with canine commercial shampoo was appropriate every 5 or 8 days.
