Four cases of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) were reviewed to see whether any improvement is observed in the X-ray images of open-mouth view and cephalocervical views. Intraoral appliances of TMJ balancing appliance (TBA) and cervical balancing appliance (CBA) and active movement of within range-of-movement of the jaw and the neck were applied to each patient. Improved balance of $2^{nd}$ cervical vertebra position and cervical alignment were observed in all the four cases.

It was observed that the effectiveness of Yin-yang balancing therapy of the tempromandibular joint (YBT) or functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCS) in three cases: an acute and a chronic motor tic disorder and a Tourrette's disorder (TD). These three cases were mainly managed with cervical balancing appliance for the Yin-yang Balancing on tempromandibular joint (TMJ) and pelvic balance therapy. They were treated concurrently with acupuncture, cupping and herb-medicine. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures with visual analogue scale (VAS), Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTTS) and clinical observations for 235, 279 and 273 days respectively. The patient showed positive changes after the treatment and this effect maintained over the follow-up period. Although it is not clear whether the effect is sustained afterwards or not, a positive effect on the motor tic disorders and TD was observed. And so, furthermore strict clinical and structural researches for verification on YBT is expected.

Objectives: The purpose of this review is to analyse the trends of clinical studies using oral appliance in Korean Medicine. Methods: We reviewed Korean Medicine papers by searching Korean web databases 'Korea Traditional Knowledge Portal (KTKP)', 'Korea Medical Information Portal (OASIS)', 'Academic Research Information Service (RISS)', 'Scientific and Technological Information Integration Service (NDSL)'. We classified the papers by the year of publishment, the title of journals, the type of study and contents. Results: 1. Clinical studies using oral appliance have been increasingly published since 2011. 2. Most of the studies were published in the Journal of TMJ Balancing Medicine. 3. 33 research papers were divided in to 6 original articles, 27 case reports. But almost presented a low level of evidence. 4. In the content of the studies, oral appliance were used for various diseases such as nervous system, musculoskeletal system and visceral system. Conclusions: We expect that various studies and clinical application will be actively carried out with the development of technology related to oral appliance.

The purpose of this study was to report the effect of Yinyang balancing appliance (YBA) of Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy (FCST) and Korean medicine methods treating idiopathic scoliosis. YBA was applied for 146 times from 29th March 2014 to 5th September 2015. Herbal medicine used for treatment were Yeonggamgangmisinhaintang, Eokgansangagambang, Gamihangchetang. The change of symptoms was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale. When treated with YBA and herbal medicine, the patient showed improvement. After about 1 year, the patient was recovered completely. This case showed that YBA and herbal medicine can be effective to improve idiopathic scoliosis.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medical treatment using Yin-yang Balancing Therapy of TMJ (YBT) on correcting posture. Methods: During the admission period, the patient was treated by Korean medical treatment (YBT, acupuncture, herb medicine, etc) every each day. The standard intraoral balancing appliance was used in patient while sleeping and exercising. Results: After treatment for 35th, the angle changed from 23 degrees to 0 degree. The posture of the neck and shoulder became straight. The distorted facial midline was aligned straight. Conclusions: These results showed that YBT have an effect on correcting posture.

Therapeutic effect of Yinyang Balancing Appliance of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurologic yinyang balance was observed in recurrent or habitual type temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dislocation. One Recurrent or habitual type TMJ dislocation case was managed with the Yinyang Balancing Appliance on TMJ, combined with acupuncture. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures and clinical observations. The patient showed positive changes even after the initial treatment and this effect maintained over the follow-up period. Although it is not clear the effect is sustaining or temporary in its nature, a positive effect was observed and further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to report the effect of Postural Yinyang Correction of the Temporomandibular joint (Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy, FCST) for phantogeusia. Methods: A patient with phantogeusia was treated at the Department of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, Dong-Eui University Korean Medicine Hospital from Oct 10th, 2018 to Dec 4th, 2018. A patient received 24 times of FCST with Customized TMJ Balancing Intraoral Appliance, upper cervical manipulation. To estimate the efficacy, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) and questionnaire. Results: The patient showed a certain degree of improvement in phantogeusia and other subject symtoms within 8 weeks. Adverse effects were not reported. Conclusions: These results showed that FCST using an Customized TMJ Balancing Intraoral Appliance, may be useful for reducing the symptoms of phantogeusia.

Futher clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.
