Squalene투여가 마우스의 감염 방위기능에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Squalene Administration on the Protective Fuction Against Infection in Mice)

  • This study was designed to estimate the ability of squalene treated mice to eliminate systemically infected bacteria and fungi and to elucidate the mechanism. As a result of measuring the ability to remove systemically infected bacteria and fungi, The ability of mice to remove the organism was found to increase in squalene treated mice when compared with control mice. And also the ability of phagocytic cells to produce Reactive Oxygen Intermediate(R.O.I.) increased in squalene treated mice. When the NADPH oxidase activity that make R.O.I. produce was measured, the activity increased in squalene treated mice, too. Therefore the good clearance of live organism in squalene treated mice is likely to relate to phagocytic cell activation. The activation of phagocytic cells might be mediated via the increased production of R.O.I. due to the increase of NADPH oxidase activity.

  • Peracetylated lactosyl carbamides와 N-phenyl-S-chloro isothiocarbamoyl chloride를 고리화 반응을 시켜서 peracetylated N-Lactosyl-1,2,4-thiadiazolidin-3-one hydrochlorides를 합성하였으며, 얻어진 화합물을 이용하여 bacteria S. aureus, E. coli, P. Vulgaris, P. Aeruginosa and fungi A. Niger, Penicillium 항균 활성을 연구하였다.

쑥 추출액을 이용한 염색직물의 항균성에 관한 연구 (The Study of Antibiosis of the Fabrics Dyed by Wormwood Extract)

  • Dyeing fastness and antibiosis effects of fabrics dyed with wormwood, which has been used in folk medicines and dietary life in Korea for a long time, were studied through dyeing small overcoats, which are used as diapers, with wormwood extract. As for the dying fastness test results, the fastness of decoloration was not that good but the pollution level showed a relatively positive result. As for the antibiosis effect results, the antibiosis of the dyed sample was better than the original sample on 3 kinds of bacteria, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and on 2 kinds of the fungi(Eumycetes). Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans. Especially, the sample that was mordant with CaCl2 and FeSO4·7H2O showed the best antibiosis effect. On the other hand, the sample that showed the best antibiosis effect was the refined fabric, which is a fabric that is not dyed.

  • total fungi 농도가 겨울철 실내${\cdot}$외 비 10배에서, 봄철 3배로 크게 감소한 이유는 겨울철 식물의 생육을 위한 화원내부 온도 및 습도가 선행 연구된 미생물 생육을 위한 환경과 유사하여 미생물의 포자 활동이 활발할 수 있고, 환기역시 봄에 비해 겨울동안 불량하여 발생한 fungi 포자가 희석되지 못했기 때문인 것으로 사료 된다. 화원의 종류별 실험결과 식물의 수가 비교적 적고 토양이 없는 절화화원과, 식물의 수가 적고 건조한 선인장화원이 bacteria 농도가 적으며, 식물의 수가 많고 양분을 공급하기위한 썩은 토양이 많은 종합식물원과 난초농장의 경우 bacteria의 수가 많음을 확인 하였다. 또한 식물의 포자 활동이 활발한 봄철에 미생물의 활동 또한 활발함을 알 수 있었다.

  • The antibacterial and antifungal activities of three schiff bases were evaluated against some pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Parallel experiments were also carried out with standard drugs (Kanamycin for bacteria and Nystatin for fungi). Two compounds [N-(1-phenyl-2-hydroxy-2phenylethylidine)-2',4' dinitrophenyl hydrazine, abbreviated as PDH and N-(2-hydroxy benzylidine)-2'-hydroxy imine, abbreviated as HHP] showed significant antimicrobial activities. The rest one [N-(l-phenyl 2-hydroxy-2 phenyl ethylidine) 2'-hydroxy phenyl imine, abbreviated as PHP] showed moderate activity. All these three compounds were found to possess pronounced cytotoxic effect. These compounds can be considered as potent antimicrobial agents.

죽림토양의 azotobacter 생태 (Ecology of Azotobacter in Bamboo Forest Soil)

  • This experiment was designed to elucidate the environmental factors in rhizosphers of bamboo forest that affect the distribution and the population size of Azotobacter, and also to estimate the annual productivities of nitrogen fixed by Azotobacter species. The results of this experiment can be summarized as follows ; The rhizosphere of bamboo forest contained high free sugars as of 3-8 times more than non-rhizosphere (Bacon, 1968), and the contents of organic matter and amino acids of that are reltively higher than this. Because of high content of potassium, average of soil pH is near at 7.0. As above-mentioned enviromental factors, the population sizes of Actinomycetes, general fungi, general bacteria and Azotobacters are larger than those of non-rhizosphere and the ofllowings are general fungi and general bacteria by turns. Azotobacter is dependent upon the antagonistic Actinomycetes. The main carbon source for Azotobacter in nitrogn flxation at the rhizosphere was glucose and minors were fructose, maltose and sucrose by turns. Annual gains of nitrogen by Azotobacters in soil of bamboo forest within 10cm from surface are estimated as of 88.94 kg/ha at site A, 60.4kg/ha at site B and 67.38kg/ha at site C, respectively.

Bacteria and Fungi as Alternatives for Remediation of Water Resources Polluting Heavy Metals

  • Classical methods which used for removal of heavy metals from contaminated water are adsorption, precipitation, coagulation, ion exchange resin, evaporation, and membrane processes. Microbial biosorption can be used for the removal of contaminated waters with pollutants such as heavy metals and dyes which are not easily biodegradable. Microbial biosorbents are inexpensive, eco friendly and more effective for the removal of toxic metals from aqueous solution. In this review, the bacterial and fungal abilities for heavy metals ions removal are emphasized. Environmental factors which affect biosorption process are also discussed. A detailed description for the most common isotherm and kinetic models are presented. This article reviews the achievements and the current status of bacterial and fungal biosorption technology for heavy metals removal and provides insights for further researches.

실내배양에서 생계분, 톱밥 및 왕겨 첨가가 토양미생물상에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Fowl Dropping, Saw Dust and Rice Hull on Soil Microflora in vitro)

  • 토양중에서 서식하는 미생물(微生物) flora의 구성과 미생물의 활동을 조사하기 위하여 토양 및 유기물 자재를 달리 처리하여 $28{\pm}2^{\circ}C$에서 항온시키면서 84일에 걸쳐 경시적으로 각종 미생물(微生物)의 활성과 미생물상(微生物相)의 구성변화에 미치는 영향을 검토하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 사상균 전세균, 그램음성세균 그리고 방선균의 활성도는 배양 21일째에, 그리고 포자형성세균은 배양 42일째에 가장 높은 수를 나타내었다. 사상균과 그램음성세균의 수는 계분+톱밥 처리구(F+S), 포자형성세균수와 방선균은 토양+계분+톱밥처리구(S+F+S), 그리고 전세균수는 토양+화학비료 처리구(S+C.F.)에서 가장 높았다. 그러나 계분+왕겨(F+R)만의 처리구에서는 사상균을 제외한 모든 토양미생물수가 매우 낮은 결과를 보였다. 토양세균군의 조성 비율중에서 순수분리과정동안 배양되지 않고 죽은 사균(死菌)은 토양+계분+왕겨 (S+F+R)처리구와 계분+왕겨(F+R)처리구에서 각각 70%, 40%로 다른 처리구보다 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 방선균은 토양+계분(S+F)처리구, 그리고 토양+계분+톱밥 (S+F+S)처리구에서 Streptomyces속(屬), Saccharomonospora속(屬), Nocardia속(屬), Micromonospora속(屬) 그리고 Actinomadura속(屬)으로 분리 동정되었다.

유통 생식제품의 미생물 분포 및 감마선 조사를 이용한 위생화 (Distribution of Microflora in Powdered Raw Grains and Vegetables and Improvement of Hygienic Quality by Gamma Irradiation)

  • 유통 생씩 5종의 수분 함량 4.22~7.18%의 범위였으며 수분활성은 0.15~0.26의 분포를 보여 미생물에 의한 변패보다는 낮은 수분활성에서도 생존해 있는 병원성 미생물의 제거가 생식의 중요한 품질관리 요소일 것으로 판단된다. 생식의 미생물분포는 Bacillus group $10^4$~$10^{7}$ cfu/g, 사상균류 $10^2$~$10^3$cfu/g, coliform group $10^1$~ $10^4$cfu/g, SS agar plate 분리 enteric bacteria group $10^1$~$10^3$cfu/g의 수준으로 특히 병원성 미생물의 오염가능성이 컸다. 감마선 조사 결과 coliform group, SS agar plate 분리 enteric bacteria group, 그리고 사상균류는 3 kGy의 조사선량에서 완전살균 수준으로 제거되었다. 생식 분포 미생물의 D값은 coliform group은 0.68~0.80 kGy, SS agar plate 분리 enteric bacteria group은 0.59~0.74 kGy, Bacillus group은 1.84~2.18 kGy, 사상균류는 0.36~0.57 kGy의 범위를 나타내었다. 생식제품의 위생화를 목적으로 할 경우 감마선조사 선량은 생식제품에 분포하는 coliform group과 SS agar plate 분리 enteric bacteria group 미생물의 사멸기준인 3~5 kGy의 수준으로 설정하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 사료된다.

Impacts of Soil Organic Matter on Microbial Community of Paddy Soils in Gyeongnam Province

  • Agricultural management of paddy soil depends on the effects of soil microbial activities. The present study evaluated the soil microbial community of 25 paddy soils in Gyeongnam Province by fatty acid methyl ester (FAME). The average of microbial communities in paddy soils were 32.2% of total bacteria, 16.7% of Gram-negative bacteria, 12.9% of Gram-positive bacteria, 2.0% of actinomycetes, 14.9% of fungi, and 1.3% of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. The communities of total bacteria (34.9%) and Gram-negative bacteria (19.4%) in soils with $30{\sim}35g\;kg^{-1}$ of organic matter were significantly larger than those in soils with other organic matter levels. However, soils with $20{\sim}30g\;kg^{-1}$ of organic matter had significantly low ratio of cy17:0 to $16:1{\omega}7c$ and cy19:0 to $18:1{\omega}7c$ as compared with soils with $30{\sim}35g\;kg^{-1}$ of organic matter, indicating microbial stress decreased (p < 0.05). In principal component analyses of soil microbial communities, Gram-negative bacteria should be considered as a potential responsible factor for the obvious microbial community differentiation that was observed between the two different organic matter levels in paddy fields. Thus, soils containing $20{\sim}30g\;kg^{-1}$ of organic matter were responsible for strong effect on microbial biomass and stress in paddy fields.
