사례 연구를 통한 BIM 전환설계 프로젝트의 설계오류 이슈 분석 (An Analysis on Design Error Issues of BIM Conversion Design Projects through Case Studies)

  • Recently, the introduction and spread of BIM technology has been actively promoted at the domestic level and abroad. However, the BIM adoption and diffusion rate in the whole construction industry has been slower than expected, this is because they applied to construction projects in a way that does not meet the basic objective of BIM adoption. The objective of this paper is to derive a BIM adoption strategy that can provide benefits and efficiency from the design phase, by analyzing issues related to design errors identified in two real world projects based on the 2D to BIM conversion process. Types of issues, type distribution, and degree of BIM contribution to find issues were analyzed in a quantitative way, and then a BIM adoption strategy was derived. As a result, this paper identified that there obviously exists a limit in the 2D to BIM conversion process by repeating the problems that occur in the traditional 2D design process. Therefore, the authors of this paper insist that the design firms should adopt BIM-based design processes, fully, to get financial benefits as well as to improve the design quality.

READINESS OF NIGERIAN BUILDING DESIGN FIRMS TO ADOPT BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM) TECHNOLOGIES

  • Building Information Modelling (BIM) has become the new international benchmark for efficiency in design, construction and maintenance of buildings. It is the platform that brings about collaboration between project stakeholders and improvement of project outcomes. With all its potentials, not much of the impact of BIM technologies has been felt in the Nigerian construction industry. This research aimed at assessing the readiness of the Nigerian building design firms to adopt BIM technologies. The research was exploratory in nature. A field survey was conducted with the use of structured questionnaire, self administered to a sample of building design consultancy firms (architectural, structural, M&E, quantity surveying, and multi-disciplinary design firms) within Abuja and Kaduna. The questionnaire sought the perception of the responding firms on the factors affecting BIM adoption in the Nigerian construction industry, and their level of readiness to adopt BIM technologies in their practices based on the four categories of readiness-management, people, process and technology. 42.26% response rate was achieved and used for analysis. ANOVA and DUNCAN post-hoc tests were used to establish the differences between the responses of the groups of firms, while means and standard deviations were obtained to establish the important factors affecting BIM adoption in Nigeria. The survey revealed that all the groups of Nigerian design firms are appreciably ready for the adoption of BIM technologies in their practice, with slight variations in their respective levels of readiness. 'Lack of awareness of BIM technology among professionals' and clients and 'lack of knowledgeable and experienced partners' were identified as the most important barriers of BIM adoption in Nigeria; while the most significant drivers are 'availability of well trained professionals' and 'cooperation and commitment of professional bodies to the adoption'. Education and training of building design professionals and cooperation of all stakeholders in the design and construction supply chain were recommended as part of measures to ensure successful adoption of BIM in the Nigerian construction industry.

중국 건설업 BIM 활용 장애요인 (Barriers to the use of BIM in the Chinese construction industry)

  • Since the first BIM development outline was issued in 2011, China has initially tried to adopt BIM in the construction industry. After the BIM guide was issued in 2017, China has officially entered the era of building informatization in the construction industry. Through the statistical data of BIM application reports in China's construction industry from 2014 to 2020, this paper concludes that China has made great progress in the popularization rate of BIM, but has little effect in the adoption in actual projects. Through the reading and analysis of relevant documents in China, 13 obstacle factors for BIM technology adoption in construction enterprises are preliminarily defined.

비통합적 BlM의 적용 가능성에 관한 연구 (A study on the non-integrated use of BlM)

  • The main purpose of this paper is to find the phase-in of BIM adoption by focusing on the level of integration. BlM should be aimed at integration and collaboration of all parties furnishing design and construction services to increase the productivity. Therefore, the degree and depth of integration for project collaboration is very important to BlM design process. One of the key advantages of full integration is that is to facilitates the development of detailed information much earlier in the entire design process to improve collaboration among stakeholders. Such integrated use is the ultimate method, but even so, it's not the precondition of BlM. One of the key advantages of relatively low integration as a transition phase is to adopt the BlM earlier than full integration. Such transitional and non-integrated BIM can also reduce the possibility of trial and error in BlM adoption. Therefore, this paper focused on non-integrated use of BlM as a substitute of full IPD by analyzing obstacles in BIM adoption.

BIM and 4D planning: a holistic study of the barriers and drivers to widespread adoption

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its different work streams, such as 4D planning (4D), are among the major drivers for change in the construction industry. The primary aim of this research is to create a holistic map of both the barriers and drivers affecting the industrial uptake of BIM and 4D through the use of an extensive literature review and a survey of contractors and consultants from the UK AEC (Architectural, Engineering and Construction) industry. This research demonstrates that while non-technical barriers such as the inefficiency in the evaluation of the business value of BIM and 4D; the shortage of experience within the workforce, and the lack of awareness by stakeholders are recognized by professionals as main barriers to BIM and 4D adoption, current research is still largely concerned with technical advancement of BIM and 4D technologies. A holistic map of the driving and restraining forces affecting BIM and 4D widespread adoption was provided. The tackling of the non-technical barriers identified will help bridge the gap between technology, end-users and their processes.

  • The CM(Construction Manager) of D-university has been seeking the advice of my BIM-team to adopt CM(Construction Management) and BIM best practices to improve project delivery results, and has authored best practice reports for spatial validation, BIM, 3D, 4D and 5D performance. Building Information Modeling(BIM) Process, Integration, and Adoption looks at BIM implementation from a company and project level laying out a process for companies to use BIM. Following this studies, participants will be able to: 1. BIM participants has been creating a BIM process diagram for a project, and has been evaluating and selecting process options for a specific BIM project. 2. BIM participants has been describing the roles and responsibilities of participants in the BIM process, and has been communicating the BIM process to management, colleagues, and project stakeholders. 3. BIM participants has been identified consistent factors influencing BIM return on investment at the project level and the company level, and has been outlining a process for BIM adoption on the project level and company level.

국내 MEP 분야 BIM 활용 실태 조사 및 실무 적용 활성화 방안 제시 (A Study on Strategy and Utilization for Practical Application of BIM in MEP Area)

  • In the MEP(Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) field, the utilization of BIM-based drawings is lower than in the architectural and structural sectors, and the limited BIM collaboration problem caused by different levels of BIM utilization in each field is becoming a serious problem in adoption and utilizing BIM. Therefore, this study analyzed the current status of BIM application in the field of mechanical equipment in the construction industry and analyzed the practical problems and limitations of adoption and utilizing BIM from a corporate perspective based on Delphi analysis techniques. Based on the results of the analysis, the limitations of the current MEP BIM application were classified into economic, technical, institutional, and social factors to derive detailed items, and, accordingly, the improvement measures were classified as institutional, policy, and technical measures. As a result, the company intends to maximize the value of BIM utilization in the MEP field by presenting improvement plans to activate BIM in the field of mechanical equipment based on the opinions of the company, thereby laying the foundation for BIM in the construction industry by creating a collaborative BIM environment for each sector in the domestic construction industry.

건축행정시스템의 단계적 BIM 도입 범위 설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ranging of Phased BIM Introduction Into the Architectural Information System)

  • 본 연구는 국내외 건축행정시스템 실태 및 관계법령을 검토하고, 건축서비스산업 실태를 분석하여 건축행정시스템의 단계적 BIM 도입 범위를 제안하였다. 국내외에서 건축행정시스템의 BIM 도입은 대체로 미진한 상황이고 싱가포르만이 별도의 BIM 제출 서비스를 제공하는 등 선도적으로 BIM을 도입하고 있다. BIM 적용 대상 건축물에 대한 기준은 건축인허가 절차와 연속되도록 하는 것이 바람직하므로 관련법에서 규정하는 건축물의 규모 및 종류를 분석하여 단계적 도입 범위를 설정하였다. 각 범위에 포함되는 건축물 설계의 건축사사무소 규모별 참여비율을 분석한 결과 건축물의 층수와 연면적이 증가할수록 소규모 건축사사무소의 설계 수행 비율은 감소하고 대규모 건축사사무소의 비율은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. BIM 도입이 대규모 건축사사무소 위주로 진행되고 있으므로 건축행정시스템의 BIM 도입은 대규모 건축물부터 점차 작은 규모의 건축물로 단계적으로 확산해 나가는 것이 바람직하다. 최종적으로 본 연구는 건축행정시스템의 BIM 도입을 6단계로 나누고 건축행정절차에 따라 세분한 BIM의 활성화 및 연착륙을 유도하는 로드맵을 수립하였다.

건설사업관리자의 BIM 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구 (Factors Affecting the BIM Acceptance of Construction Managers)

  • CM과 BIM은 건축물 전 생애주기 동안 발생되는 정보를 통해 각 분아별 협업체계 구축 및 업체 간의 원활한 의사소통을 해주는 유사점이 있으며 BIM은 CM의 업무수행과 서비스의 가치 향상을 위한 효과적인 정보관리도구로 활용될 수 있다. 그러나 CM에서 BIM 도입과 활용은 아직도 매우 제한적이다. 본 연구의 목적은 BIM 도입에 대한 CMr의 의도를 분석하고 CMr관점에서 효과적인 BIM 사용을 위한 전략을 수립하는 것이다. 본 연구는 TAM방법을 사용하였으며 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 1) CMr는 현재 BIM을 통해 자신의 인지도 향상, 경쟁력 및 역량 강화와 같은 이미지 향상 보다는 현재 자신의 업무에서 BIM이 적용되는 것이 사회적으로 요구되고 있는지를 중요하게 생각하고 있다. 2) BIM을 연계할 수 있는 업무를 도출하여 BIM을 활용할수 있는 업무프로세스를 구축하는 것이 중요하다고 생각하고 있다. 3) CMr가 BIM의 수용과 인식에 대해서는 궁극적으로는 받아들이지만 실제적인 업무에서 BIM 사용과 시도는 주저하고 있는 것으로 판단된다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 CM관점에서 BIM 활용 전략 수립 방향을 제시하였다.

BSC를 기반으로 한 BIM프로젝트의 만족도 측정에 관한 연구 (BSC Based Measurement of Satisfaction Degree For Based BIM Construction Projets)

  • 건설프로젝트의 대형화, 복잡화, 다양화로 인해 전략적 대응방안 중 하나로 BIM(Building Information Modeling)이 등장하였다. 최근 조달청에서는 2012년부터 500억 이상의 건설 프로젝트에 BIM적용을 의무화하는 BIM 활성화 계획을 발표하여 국내 건설 산업 전반으로 BIM도입이 확산되고 있다. 이에 BIM기반 프로젝트 사례를 바탕으로 각종 BIM연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 현재 BIM관련 연구는 BIM도입에 대한 단편적인 문제점 도출 및 BIM에 대한 기술력과 체제 구축 등의 문제점을 중점으로 활발히 진행되고 있으나, 본질적인 BIM기반 프로젝트 전반에 대한 만족도에 관한 연구는 전무하다. 따라서 본 연구는 국내 BIM기반 프로젝트에 대한 실태 파악 및 만족도를 조사하여 이를 종합적으로 분석하고 현재 실무자들의 시각에서의 프로젝트 내 BIM적용에 대한 중요 부문 및 취약 부문을 파악한 뒤 중점 개선하는 방향을 제시하는 등 효율성 면에서의 BIM기반 프로젝트에 대한 만족도 연구를 하였다.
