Design of the Satellite Beacon Receiver Using Array Based Digital Filter (다중배열 디지털필터를 이용한 위성비콘 수신기 설계)

  • The beacon receiver is an equipment which detects and measures the signal strength of transmitting satellite beacon signal. Beacon signals transmitted by satellites are low power continuous wave(CW) signals without any modulation intended for antenna steering to satellite direction and power control purposes on the earth. The beacon signal detection method using a very narrow band analog filter and RSSI(Received Signal Strength Intensity) has been typically used. However, it requires the implementation to track the frequency at the beacon receiver, thus a beacon frequency variation of the satellite due to temperature changes and long-term operation. Therefore, in this paper, the beacon signal detection receiver is designed by using a very narrow band digital filter array for a faster acquisition and SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) method detection. For this purpose, by calculating the satellite link budget with the rain attenuation between satellite and ground station, and then extracting the received $C/N_o$ of the beacon signal, this work derives the bandwidth and the array number of the configured digital filter that gives the required C/N.

  • This paper presents the structure and functions of the differential beacon receiver for receiving DGPS error correction data. The differential beacon receiver is designed using commercially available components. Its functions are being implemented and tested in laboratory. Filed test is scheduled for the end of this year.

  • MSAS satellite is the geostationary satellite for realizing WADGPS that can get the position of moving object in a wide area receiving the correction signal created from a ground using satellite. In this study, we analyzed two different data. One is using the correction signal transmitted from MTSAT-2 satellite of MSAS and the other is receiving the data of DGPS using BEACON receiver. As we compared both data, we could get the conclusion that the position accuracy of both data is also can get up to the standard or the conventional real-time code DGPS. As a result, we can expect that if we use MTSAT-2 satellite and BEACON receiver together, we can apply them LBS part that require real-time data or the obtaining geospatial information that does not require high accuracy much regardless of topography.

  • In satellite communication, modulated beacon signal is spreaded by gold sequence and the modulated beacon is transmitted via linear phase modulation. Due to the difference in characteristics of the satellite and the receiver on the ground, frequency offset (FO) occurs. An existing modulated beacon receiver is a method of synchronizing the frequency of a modulated beacon signal using FFT(Fast Fourier Transform), which not only increases the delay and complexity in terms of system implementation but also has a separate circuit for compensating the phase difference due to FO and phase offset from FFT points. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes and analyzes a scheme for compensating and demodulating the coarse FO and phase offset at one time using the 2-phase shaped characteristics of the modulated beacon signal. Also, through the simulation, the modulation index suitable for the proposed method is analyzed and the appropriate cumulative number is also analyzed.

  • The interconnectedness of all things is continuously expanding. For example, bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacons are wireless radio transmitters that can send an identifier to nearby receivers and trigger a number of applications, from proximity marketing to indoor location-based service. iBeacon technology which is one of the newest technologies in the smart tourism field, is reckoned as being very useful for travelers in enhancing the experience with visiting places. However, there is consequently not much existing research yet about the connection between iBeacon technology and tourism destination. Considering that, this study analyzes the adoption of iBeacon in tourism destination, this study examine the interrelationships and feedback structures of key factors in iBeacon adoption. To serve the purpose, this study used system dynamics approach to develop a model of iBeacon adoption in tourism destination. The analysis results showed that the concept of 'Social Influences' is one of the significant predictors for individual's intention behavior to accept iBeacon, and word of mouth (WOM), subjective norm, privacy concern, and perceived usefulness are key factors influencing the iBeacon adoption.

  • A study on Ontology-based indoor positioning techniques using BLE Beacon. Recently BLE beacon has been widely used as a technique for measuring the indoor location. But it requires a filtering technique for the measurement of the correct position, and uses the most fixed beacon. It is not accurate that calculates the position information through the identification of the beacon signal. Therefore, filtering is important. So it takes a lot of time, position measurement and filtering. Thus, we is to measure the exact position at the indoor using a mobile beacon. The measured beacon signal is composed of an ontology for reuse in the same pattern. RSSI is measured the receiver is the distance of the beacon. And this value configure the location ontology to be normalized by the relationship analysis between the values. The ontology is a method for calculating the position information of the moving beacon. It may be detected fast and accurate indoor position information.

  • In this paper, the beacon signals of WiFi doppler frequency detection based WiFi-AP was designed with the subcarrier between a transmitter and a receiver of WLAN(wireless LAN). We can use such signals to identify human moving as an antenna array and tracking of RF beam. This wireless security services with the combination of WiFi doppler frequency and adaptive beacon time signal was proposed for wireless detection and motion based services.

  • Beacon signals used in indoor positioning system are reflected and distorted, resulting in noise signals. KF(Kalman Filter) has been widely used to remove this noise. In order to apply the KF, optimization process considering the signal type, signal strength, and environmental elements of each product is required. In this paper, we propose a solution to the optimization problem of KF Parameters using GA(Genetic Algorithm) in BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) Beacon-based indoor positioning system. After optimizing KF Parameters by applying the proposed technique with a certain distance between Beacon and receiver, we compared the estimated distance passed through KF with the unfiltered distance. The proposed technique is expected to reduce the time required and improve accuracy of KF Parameters optimization in an indoor positioning system based on RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication).

  • 최근 통신기술의 발달로 사용자의 위치 정보에 기반한 다양한 위치기반서비스(Location Based Service)가 각광을 받고 있다. 위치기반서비스의 경우 대부분 GPS(Global Positioning System)정보를 사용하지만 실내에서는 위성정보를 받을 수 없어서 위치추적이 어려운 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 실내 공간에서 사용자의 위치를 추적하기 위해 비콘을 이용한 위치 찾기 서비스를 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 기존 비콘 통신 방법인 비콘을 고정시키고 고가의 수신기를 휴대해야 하는 단점을 보완하였다. 이를 위해 비콘과 수신기의 역할을 변경하여 수신기를 고정시키고 비콘에 이동성을 주어, 실내에서도 사용자들이 보다 저렴하고 효율적으로 사용할 수 있도록 구현하였다. 특히, 삼각측량법을 활용하여 보다 정확한 위치를 찾도록 구현하였다.
